- Frame stuttering is a big problem in Diablo 4, but it can be easily solved with a simple change in settings. It is important to separate the concepts of frame stuttering and frame rate. Frame Stuttering is often caused by the battle.net app itself! In this video I will show you how to determine if you are dealing with a frame stuttering issue, a frame rate issue or network connection issues (rubber banding).

This fixed it for me. I was having over 100FPS on average, but then stuttering that made sometimes impossible to play. Now i don't have any stuttering nor lag and everything works fine as it should.

While I haven't tested extensively, this DOES seem to have fixed a lot of my stuttering as well! Crazy that this would be missed by Blizzard. I've a high end machine and tried lowering textures and shadows etc with no change. I only played for maybe 10 mins, and I did stutter a once, but that might have been a network hitch. Edit: played another 30 mins and, while servers are borked, I had basically no stuttering. Amazing!

This along with setting my network to public solved my issues! Been having weird stutters and freezes, sound bugs and rubberbanding all the time. Now I run at max settings and the game runs so smooth 😎 Some occasional hicc-ups from the servers but it happens rarely now. So happy, feels like a completely different game now! Thank you so much!

Was driving me crazy! Thank you for this hard to find, EASY fix! Too many other "fixes" on UA-cam other than this one that is simple and fixes the issue. Now my one question I have is, why would Blizzard have that setting as default?!? I had to look around and find your fix again just to say thanks after it worked, and thumbs up. It just " simply " worked after " I " tried it. This is not common and is an enigma all in its own.

for some reason my sorc tp/rogue shadowstep cause stutters but everything else in the game feels fine, any known reason why?

U are a lifesaver, i've been having this issue since beta and could not figure out for the life of me why my $3000 PC could not run on high/ultra with smooth frametime. I would get 165fps on 2160p but the fratmetimes were so bad. I literally tried every other thing to do with windows and graphic settings to now avail.

oh my, finally! i tried everything but couldnt get rid of the stuttering, but putting off the option browser hardware accel. worked! Now i can finally crank up my graphics again, cheers.

FYI, I tried everything, empty shader cache, browser hardware acceleratuion in battlenet, turn off crossplay, cleanign registry etc etc etc ... What improved it for me, no idea why, was cap my fps. My PC was not fully utilized and it maxed out easily at 160fps which is the limit of the monitor, but I had stutters which I could also see in a dpc latency checker, huge spikes. I limited the fps in game to under 100, and now it's palyable all of the sudden. The GPU and CPU are running at 40 and 20 % tops, but for some reason, that improved it. I still see dpc latency spikes, but none I can feelm in game. There is something seriously off with that game, no other game has these issues.

Wow, I'm on a 4090 and was stuttering like crazy in some town areas. When I did this, completely gone. Who would've thought. I mean, game isn't running a browser so don't understand how this could've helped, but glad it did. Thanks mate!

Coming from a 3090ti rig after changing these systems and I can this was night and day difference. I was looking everywhere but, this definitely made the stuttering and yes also flickering go away on high refresh rate uncapped fps configs. Please bump this for future people wanting a solid fix

I tried this and it did help out! I also had the task bar open and looked under the performance tab and noticed my CPU was being utilized far more than my GPU. In addition to your video I also did the following:
1. From Start Icon, type "Graphics Settings". Click the results from System Settings.
2. Click Desktop App.
3. Click your application. ...
4. Once identified, click Options.
5. Set the application to your preferred GPU.
6. Click save.
When I re-launched the game I had more GPU utilization and far less stuttering than just disabling the browser acceleration.
Hope this helps someone else as well!
That's not how things work. You must be referring to a laptop and were allowing it to switch to onboard video.

I know this stuff is finicky with PC's, but I did want to say that turning this browser acceleration off fixed my micro stuttering issue as well. I have a 4090 laptop (scar 18). I tried messing with DLSS, DLSS 3, all the graphics. All updates to drivers, all windows updates. This was the last thing I tried and it fixed it. Thank you!!!!!!!!

Excellent suggestion! It worked! I'm not surprised it's one of Blizzard's own app settings causing this. Of course Blizz wouldn't offer a solution themselves. "Let the players figure it out."
Now if only I can figure out how to adventure without being overrun by 50+ mobs with no way out...

My god brother... I was sitting here like no way this is my GTX 2070.. or maybe it is! It kept me annoyed all weekend, searched youtube and came across this and STUTTER GONE! and I can finally alt+tab and it don't feel like my PC is going to blow up... Amazing work !!

Fixed it for me. steam deck windows 10. Settings at high preset no tweaks, capped at 40fps running great aside from rubberbanding once in a while. Constant stutter gone though. Thx dude 👍

lol i was getting a small fps drop in hubs like 4 fps drop but it wouuld cause a minor stutter that was pretty irritating and this tip actually removed it completly, tks man

Anyone else have any other fixes? My wifes computer is better than mine and hers stutters while fighting or running like every 10 seconds freezes for half a second. We have tried everything we can find.
I hope this will help, as I honestly kinda stopped playing after the initial launchweek as it was just so frustrating. Playing a Hardcore difficulty character and then having such bad frame stutter spells every now and then was just too damn nervewrecking lol.

I have a high end pc and always assumed it was my internet. Bought a steamdeck and there was almost no stutter in town - like you I tried lowering settings on high end pc but it still happened.. changed this and its perfect! Thank you so much; is this an issue on nvidia and AMD ? (I have nvidia 3080ti)

*Never mind* Still going on.. I don't understand how a game that can be played on an Xbox performs better on it.. than on my nvidia 4080 rig.. it gets a solid 140+ fps on the game, but the wierd frame stuttering randomly drops it to zero for like a second or two randomly.. ☠️
**I FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT!! Along with what this video teaches you.. you also have to turn off hardware accelerated gpu scheduling if you have a newer pc. It's a feature mainly for aging and weaker rigs. Game runs perfectly now.
Settings>System>Display>Multiple Displays>Graphics Settings> Hardware Accelerated GPU scheduling.
