I have wanted one of these since Javier got his prototype ages ago. That being said there is no way I can justify spending 2.5k for a bolt on Indonesian made guitar without stainless steel frets.
@@LtdTaurus my point stands even if that is the case. A few gears ago ibanez released a prestige 8 that was pretty bare bones and was 1800 but atleast that was made in japan
@@Skeletor4753 I do agree with you, maybe the last sentence wasn't clear enough. But since all the shit that has been happening, LTD's and E-II's are getting crazy expensive, in particular the signature series. Even Indonesian made Ibanez guitars are catching up, price wise, to the FujiGen made Ibanez guitars. I am still baffled how FujiGen is able to keep the production cost so low for the made in japan Ibanez guitars.
@LtTaurus yep. The E-II arent even worth it anymore. I can get a custom made to my specs guitar from Skervesen or someone else for that price. Stuff is catching up to Suhr's prices but even then you can get a well made Suhr for lower price
@@TheMansionWorld it's korean, you can just barely make out "Korea" on the back of the headstock at around 0:41. IIRC all the sigs and overall higher end LTDs are all still made there.
Tosin: “Abasi Guitars, the Kaizen. We need to completely redesign, and approach the guitar from the ground up. New shapes, contours, technology. How far can we go?!!” Javier: “can we make the Strat… gold?”
I know that this is old thread already I want to add that even Kaizen and Abasi Larada has some quite obvious drawbacks to their designs. The Larada suffers from neck dive. While not a dealbreaker, this is something that old school strat shape will not suffer from. The desing would be better & more ergonomic as a headless, but the headstock is propably there for aesthetics. Also, the QC of Abasi is really poor for the price. The fan of the Kaizen is only 25.5 to 24.75, which sort of defeats the purpose of the multiscale, but you lose the floating tremolo & tuning stability that the Javier sig has. In addition, really low tunings that the target audience of Tosin & AAL fans usually utilize are not really suitable for the Kaizen. Also, due to the multiscale tremolo, the bridge pickup is really far away from the lower strings, which is going to make it sound more like middle pickup. So not that great for high gain dj0nt tones. Also something that the Javier sig wont suffer from. Not saying that the Kaizen or Larada are bad designs or anything, they are great guitars. But to claim that designs made by Tosin are utter perfection is bit silly as they have their own issues that the old school designs wont suffer from.
That’s an amazing guitar! Thank you, we needed this. I love 8 string but and the ideas that go behind other 8 strings guitar, sometimes it doesn’t hit my mark. This one is up my alley. I’m digging this one.
I don't have the money for this but this is the perfect 8 string guitar in my opinion. This is what i am looking for. If one day i'm getting rich i'll buy this.
I absolutely love that guitar. HOWEVER, the lack of SS frets at the 2.5k pricepoint seems off to me. Especially consdering it's an import model. I've always wanted an 8 string strat though.. unreasonably so..
I've noticed some companies are starting to put them on 1.5k guitars but this needs to be more universal for sure because paying 2.5k for a modern guitar and have the frets grind away fast is not a fun experience
I love esp guitars, I've played Jackson Gibson fender you name it I've played it and I always go to my esp there so amazing and with the evertune bridge omg there's nothing I can do love esp ❤️🎸🤘
I've had this guitar for just over a year now, and love it to death. It is 95% perfect for me (a bit too heavy at ~10lbs) and there's just nothing like this in the production market. I've honestly had pickup issues, but those are likely do to either pickguard shielding or wires being pinched. Very fixable stuff. It can do The Zenith Passage, Nick Johnston, Animals as Leaders, Polyphia, Andy James, Josh Meader, Periphery, Malmsteen, etc. It can squeeze so much out of every guitar VST I have because of that versatility. The only limitation is it doesn't have that Dream Theater neck humbucker solo tone. I got it at $2,500 and don't regret that price at all. It's a unicorn. It could end up a lot more valuable do to potential scarcity. I plan to mod the crap out of it - new pickguard, various knobs, new pickups in different colors, different tuner colors, and heavily modify the Floyd/springs/etc. Basically a Frankenstein 8 string monstrosity. 😃🎸
Not try'n to be negative, but this thing must be a nightmare to restring and set up properly. Imagine how much preload the trem springs must have on them to keep it in tune. Love my LTD's to death, but it's all hardtails for me.
You can purchase any guitar we make in an ESP version from the ESP Custom Shop. The LTD version is a representation of Javier's ESP Custom. We'd be happy to build one for you if you want!
Just want to mention: not everyone like stainless steel frets, whether it's due to the feel or the effect on tone. If Javier had wanted SS frets on this model, they would have been there. Just something to keep in mind.
@@espguitarsusa That's fair considering Javier's preference's and would make sense on his personal guitar but not the production. Pretty awesome.
22 frets on a 8 string feels weird.
surprisingly not the first production 8 string with only 22 frets - Ibanez with their FTM33 and ESP with the LTD EC-258
I’d sacrifice those two frets to have the pickup in that spot instead. That neck tone is SICK

is it just me or is the humbucker really placed kinda crooked in the guitar?
