I've reviewed Donner instruments before and I've always had a good experience. This beginners electric guitar which is from the standard DST-100 range of guitars is no exception. The guitar is well made and plays well straight out of the box. The guitar also comes with a complete set of accessories giving a new guitarist everything they need to get started in one box. This package is a bargain price yet the quality hasn't suffered as the electric guitar is very nice and easy to play.

Thank you for this review...have had the DST-100 for a couple of years now...learner...thanks' for verifying that I haven't bought a load of junk....any beginner would be pleased with this considering the amp and the rest of the accessories that come with it and of course price.
Thank you for watching and verifying my thoughts. You'll know how good the guitar is now better than most people 😊😀
You videos help me sleep at night and help me relaxe when I want to learn more about the guitar.
LOL . . well that's a good thing, we all need to relax and sleep . . thanks 😊😃
always highly informative. great sound at the end.
Glad you enjoyed it . . thank you 😊😃
Excellent lean and mean test & review - lots of attention to details relevant to prospective buyer, but absolutely no waffle or time wasting. Brilliant! Keep on doing it like this 👍 😎
Add another camera and more lights when you have the funds 😃
Glad you enjoyed it . . Yes, improving the filming environment is a must . . 😊😃
As always the more I watch and listen, the more I learn. Thank you for another great review.
PS: I think you can make any guitar sound good!
Thank you very much . . 😊😃👍
Nice❤ improv work. Always a pleasure
Thanks a lot 😊 you're a great encouragement . .
Excellent review. Thanks.
Very welcome thank you too 😊😃
Thanks. I ordered it anyway but watched this to make sure I hadn't made a mistake!
I don't think you'll be disappointed 😊😊

Hola bro, la recomiendas?
Thank you for another terrific video. I wish someone (hint...hint) would do a set of videos like this about the cheapest available classical guitars. As a resource for teachers, it would be quite valuable I think.
Great suggestion! I'll look into it . . . thanks 😊😃
I think these days you'd almost have to do research to find a poorly made guitar. The difference, I think, is in the attention to details. Donner does a good job looking after those. Great review as always, sir!
Great point! I think CNCs and computers do a lot of the work these days and they don't have many bad days. Thank you 😊😃
Hi , thank you for the great video! I am a beginner and I really like your teaching style - I will definitely be watching more of your videos. I have one question, would you choose the DST 100 or DST 152 ?
Awesome, thank you! 😃😊 I would choose the DST 152, it is a little more expensive, but the guitar is definitely better.
My strat has a head stock like that, I painted black. I paid $20.00 for it, love it.
wow . . . it sounds like you got a bargain 😊😃
Nice bro
Thanks 😊😃
Hi there , just discovered your channel ! What should I do if my new guitar has a quite high strings action ? I've read and seen a lot . I want to experiment myself and not to visit a technician at this point. Thanks in advance!
I can't describe this in text, but I'll be doing a video about this soon . . keep your eyes open 😊

I can get the red version of this set for 140£ and the Harley Benton set that looks the same for 169£ with bigger amp. Do you think it's worth the extra for the Harley Benton or is this a better guitar. Good review and great playing by the way.
Thank you very much 😊 I can only give my opinion so in the end it's what you want and can afford, but here's my thoughts.
The Harley Benton guitar is more or less the same, but the Harley Benton amp is much better. If you have the money the better amp is worth the extra £29. If you want to avoid spending the extra money you can always get a better amp in the future. I hope this helps 😊
@@guitar-academy thanks for the reply it helps. It's amazing how well these cheep guitars play.
Yes, can't agree more @@user-justin500
DST 152 is much better than DST 100 or it’s just about the coil split? Thank you
I think you're right it's about the coil split and a different bridge pickup. But not a massive difference 😊😀
@@guitar-academy About the tremolo... do you think is stable and works in a good way? I'm a fan of Les Paul but I'd like to explore something new and I think this Donner guitar is really good for the price. I think DST 152 is what I'm looking for but I'm a bit worried about the tremolo quality...
Thanks!
The tremolo system is fine, but it was tight when I got it so I had to loosen the springs. If I was using it as a main guitar I would probably replace the springs, but they are very cheap. 🤔@@begoz5223
@@guitar-academy Perfect, I’ll buy it. Thanks 😊

What is the tune at 21:47 ?
It's just me messing about 😊 I try to avoid other peoples music because I get done for copyright 😒
any chance they sent you a juiced guitar, that someone gave the once over to?
That's a very good question . . I have thought this might be the case, because i've never had a bad product from Donner. I have ordered stuff from their Amazon store which I know can't have been tampered with because it's shipped by Amazon but this guitar came directly from Donner. I hope not, because I want my reviews to be honest. 🤔🤔
thanks for the reply. its interesting to think about... I think your reviews are definitely honest and very well done. i didnt mean to cast doubt! the only real donner complaint i've heard is that the frets were rough on the 200. and a lot of whiners who probably dont know anything. the donners sure look good you can't deny that @@guitar-academy
@@clancykobane9102Don't worry I don't feel you were questioning my honesty. At the end of the day every single guitar is different (even the expensive ones). I hope people don't get a bad guitar after watching my review, because then I'd feel responsible, and I recommended one of these to my friend for Christmas. 🤔
what amp is it???
It's a rechargeable Donner mini amp
@@guitar-academy any specific name for it? i’m new to electric guitar and i’m struggling with the tones and stuff,so i’m searching for a tutorial on how to use the amp better(cleaner tone or cleaner distortion)
@@chobchob7773 Sorry I haven't done any tutorials on that, but I'll put it on my list. Personally, I think if you're looking for a very specific sound or sounds you might want to look at multi effects or amp modellers. 🤔
does a normal fender pickguard fit here? can you try it?
I it will fit with modification and some new holes. The shape more or less lines up but the holes for the screws don't so you have to make new holes. The old holes are hidden behind the pickguard but they are still there. 🤔
@@guitar-academy thx
@@guitar-academy also do you have an estimate on how much padding is in the gigbag?
@@guitar-academy sorry for assking sso much questions but is can i wire the humbucker to coil split or do i have to buy a new humbucker
@@ThatBloxFruitKid no problem
or maybe I need a pakage of your books
the same as the previous answer 😊👍
They make no lefthand guitars. Poor lefty’s.
LOL . . to find the lefty guitars you have to go to their website, for example;
idonner.eu/collections/electric-guitar/products/donner-electric-guitar-left-handed-full-size-39-inch-with-amplifier-bag-capo-strap-string-tuner-cable-and-picks-sunburst-dst-100sl
and
idonner.eu/collections/electric-guitar/products/donner-dst-1bl-solid-body-39-inch-full-size-left-handed-electric-guitar-kit-beginner-black-starter
is this a robot talking?
no
Currently the DST-100 is only $20 CAD cheaper than the DST 152 which has the coil split humbucker feature making the DST-100 unappealing. They do come currently in more choices in color which the 152 does not (which I'm hoping will change soon).
Wow $20 CAD isn't much of a price difference. There's not much difference between the 2 guitars, it's basically just the coil tap switch that's an addition to the 152. They are always updating the ranges and they have sales when they do, so hopefully a colour you love will come out soon. 😊😀
@@guitar-academy I really don't like open humbuckers which is why I like the 152's chrome covered humbucker.
It's very much a taste thing isn't it. I kind of swing between the two styles. 😊😊@@mojorocketman
