It’s great that they’re pre-engineered, but remember that every site is different… and soil conditions and everything else is unique for wherever you live… So, you have a head start here, but you’ll still need engineering & geotech. For example, I see”soft story” all over the ones on piers… So, you’ll want to see if that’s an issue in your region. Cross bracing & moment frames might be in order.

Now this design is more up my alley! I hope they also have some that are on the ground floor or have a ramp instead of steps if it is up high for those of us with mobility problems. A security fence in the back yard would also be nice for a dog to be secured.

I found a bunch here and on Pinterest but they seem built for warmer climates such as in Thailand …

i Love the ABS...but might prefer it NOT on stilts in PNW. Also love the Kingfisher.....(for sure a 'retreat' on second floor...lol) but the ABS.... is large enough for me. And it's so nice to see something big enough for someone who finds tiny homes too small...though would love a smaller than normal home ..just not THAT small. Maybe someone out this way will so some like these and our local codes will allow them. (hopeful)
Right out of my past. Being born and raised in South Florida, I remember well the stilt homes that were the rage in all of the low-lying, swampy land that dominates the area. Back in the day, they were all built by Jim Walters Homes.😂That builder didn’t survive the Great Recession. These look to be 10x the quality but I have no desire to return to the mosquito-infested swamps!
They are engineered to withstand 180 mph winds or they would never be able to get a building permit. And you don't know it, but in Kerry's video you looked right at one of the only homes on Sanibel Island that had no damage from Hurricane IAN. The entire island was under eight feet of water. I know because I took the before and after photos.

One would think since the east coast has a denser population eventually it will get this as well but we also have hurricanes to worry about too. Pretty. Look and sound expensive. If someone is going to insist on living in hurricane prone areas, wind resistance and stilts are a MUST, but here's a question. Even if your home survives, what good is it really, if the infrastructure all around you is wiped out? It seems to me, especially with climate change, the government needs to start considering whether building in weather destruction zones should be allowed. I have to be honest: I think my taxpayer dollars could be better spent than bailing out folks who decide to continue to roll the dice and get wiped out!
