Didnt the supreme court just call out Republicans in Alabama for violating the voting rights act of 1965 by drawing maps that removes representation for black voters????
We always known republicans were doing this... finally and surprisingly the Supreme Court upheld justice.
Alabama is not the only state to do this, hopefully more states will resolve these racist white supremacist tactics used by the republican party for decades.

      🟩🟧Another phenomenal read!
      🟦🟧Decent Republicans, are frustrated
and embarrassed, with their Party’s long 60 year association with the racist KKK.
      ------------------------
🟩🟧 In 1964, Democrat President Lyndon Johnson, had the audacity to promote race mixing and integration of black and white Americans.🇺🇸 He was determined to complete the ambition of assassinated Democratic President, John F. Kennedy. The racist KKK and most Southern whites, were both long time Democrats but, race mixing and integration were bridges too far, so, they simply hauled butt over to the Republicans, where they still call the Republican Party home.

Blacks traveling on Greyhound and other bus services, were forced by law, to take rear seats when crossing over from Northern to Southern states, prior to the passage of the 1964 Civil Right Bill.

✅✅ Until the late 1950s, black department

🟧 Jewish stores were more accommodating.
Up until the 1960’s, the few black police 👮 👮‍♀️

🟧🟪 The Republican Party Issued A Formal Apology To Black Americans in 2005, for the many years of Playing The Race Card. Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehnman, issued a formal apology to Black Americans via the NAACP. The apology was given for the many years that the Republican Party engaged in race-baiting and other racial tricks in order to win elections. A Harvard educated attorney, Mehlman traveled to the NAACP’s Convention in Milwaukee, to deliver his message. Among other things, he promised a friendlier relationship between his party and black Americans. But, other Republican officials were not pleased that their party had issued an apology to black people. Chairman Mehlman was soon let go of his position and Republican Party racism against blacks continued.

Republican President Ronald Reagan and longtime racist Republican Senator Jesse

Senator Helms was especially vicious in his actions, he created a fake 300-page document, in which he accused the Reverend King of being a Marxist and a Communist.
New York Democrat Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, declared the document to be, “a packet of fifth.” He then threw it to the floor of the Senate and stomped on it.
The MLK holiday bill, soon had the growing support of Americans.
But, in a last attempt to support racist Senator Helms accusations, Reagan falsely hinted again, that the Reverend King, whose family were ‘legacy Abraham Lincoln Republicans,’ may have had Communist ties.
The veto-proof bill eventually passed and President Reagan signed it.

GROUP BRAGGING ABOUT WRITING VOTER SUPPRESSION BILLS
      May 13, 2021 Democracy Docket
WASHINGTON, D.C.-The dark money group Heritage Action, associated with the conservative think tank Heritage Foundation, was caught on a leaked video bragging about their role in writing the series of voter suppression bills that have passed in states across the country over the last few months. The video was recorded at a private meeting with high dollar donors in April, and published by Mother Jones.
In the video, Heritage Action executive director Jessica Anderson brags about the group’s work to “quickly and quietly” get voter suppression legislation passed in key swing states, as part of the group and the GOP’s promotion of the Big Lie and continuing efforts to limit ballot access after Donald Trump’s loss. Heritage Action’s work, according to Anderson, includes recommending provisions to be included in legislation, providing state legislators with information and language to help draft proposals, and sometimes even writing the bills themselves before feeding them to local representatives. In other cases, “we have a sentinel, on our behalf, give [the legislators] the model legislation so it has that grassroots, from the bottom-up type of vibe,” Anderson said on video.

🟪🟪 TILL THE 1960’s, TEXAS CONSERVATIVES FORCED BLACKS AND LATINOS TO TAKE LITERACY TEST TO BE ABLE TO VOTE
Blacks and Latinos attempting to vote, often were told by election officials that they had gotten the date, time or polling place wrong, that they possessed insufficient literacy skills or that they had filled out an application incorrectly. Black people, whose population suffered a high rate of illiteracy due to centuries of oppression and poverty, often would be forced to take literacy tests, which they sometimes failed.
Voting officials, primarily in Southern states, had been known to force Black voters to “recite the entire Constitution or explain the most complex provisions of state laws,” a task most white voters would have been hard-pressed to accomplish. In some cases, even Black people with college degrees were turned away from the polls.

🟧🟪🟩 DeSantis Florida’s GOP gubernatorial nominee says, a vote for his black opponent would ‘monkey this up’
      By Caroline Kenny, CNN
Updated 12:39 AM EDT, Thu August 30, 2018
      Washington CNN -
Fresh off his victory in the Florida Republican gubernatorial primary, Rep. Ron DeSantis said Wednesday that voters would “monkey this up” if they elected his African-American Democratic opponent, Andrew Gillum, to be governor, immediately drawing accusations of racism.
The remark provides a controversial beginning to what will be a closely watched general election campaign for the Florida governorship, which pits DeSantis, who has closely aligned himself with President Donald Trump, against Gillum, a progressive backed by independent Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont.
What Andrew Gillum vs Ron DeSantis in Florida will tell us about 2020
Calling Gillum “an articulate spokesman” for the far left, DeSantis said during an interview on Fox News when asked about his opponent, “The last thing we need to do is to monkey this up by trying to embrace a socialist agenda with huge tax increases and bankrupting the state.”
Gillum would become the state’s first black governor if he were to win in November.
“Well, I’ll try to be articulate, Chris,” Gillum told Chris Cuomo on CNN’s “Cuomo Prime Time,” “and simply say that that kind of vitriol - and he’s apparently given up the whistle, they’ve gone to the bullhorn with these kinds of tactics - but they’re not going to work.”
Gillum earlier had told Fox News’ Shepard Smith, “It’s very clear that Mr. DeSantis is taking a page directly from the campaign manual of Donald Trump.”
“Was that racist or a figment of speech?” Smith asked, referring to DeSantis’ comment.
Gillum didn’t answer the specific question, instead responding, “I’m not going to get down in the gutter with DeSantis and Trump. There’s enough of that going on.”
But Democratic groups quickly accused DeSantis of using racist dog whistles, which DeSantis’ campaign denied.
“It’s disgusting that Ron DeSantis is launching his general election campaign with racist dog whistles,” Florida Democratic Party Chairwoman Terrie Rizzo said in a statement.
“On the first day of the general election, Ron DeSantis showed Floridians who he really is,” Democratic Governors Association Deputy Communications Director David Turner said. “Resorting to dog whistle politics within hours of winning the GOP nomination shows a desperate candidate who will stoop to new lows in order to court and give voice to fringe elements of society. Floridians want a leader who will bring them together; Ron DeSantis has shown that he would only divide Florida.”
A spokeswoman for Fox News reached out to CNN early Wednesday afternoon to distance the network from DeSantis’ remark, pointing to a statement made by anchor Sandra Smith on air in which she said, “We do not condone this language and wanted to make our viewers aware that he has since clarified his statement.”
Stephen Lawson, the communications director for the DeSantis campaign, said he was referring to Gillum’s policies in making the remark.
“Ron DeSantis was obviously talking about Florida not making the wrong decision to embrace the socialist policies that Andrew Gillum espouses. To characterize it as anything else is absurd,” Lawson said. “Florida’s economy has been on the move for the last eight years and the last thing we need is a far-left democrat trying to stop our success.”

      🟦🟧Another phenomenal read! Holla back!
AIRLINES SOMETIMES BUMPED BLACK PASSENGERS OFF OF FLIGHTS TO MAKE ROOM FOR WHITE TRAVELERS, EVEN 🧳🧳DURING REFUELING STOPS.
"Black travelers were first in line for any kind of travel disruption, and were sometimes bumped to make room for white passengers."
More welcome on planes than trains, many early Black flyers took to the air with enthusiasm. “Breakfast in Kansas; dinner in Los Angeles!” reported J. A. Rogers, a novelist who worked as staff correspondent for the Pittsburgh Courier, in 1936. “Colored youth take notice! The airplane will someday supercede the railroad as the latter did the covered wagon.” But flying would prove less ideal than many hoped, at least when it came to avoiding Jim Crow.
In 1945 the Chicago and Southern Airline (one of Delta’s precursors) admitted that it practiced Jim Crow seating on its Dixie-bound flights.
“It is true that Negro passengers are requested to assume the forward seats on the airplane,” an official for the airline wrote to Theodore Allen, a Black federal government employee who protested when one of the airline’s stewardesses made him reseat himself in the front of the plane, after he and the white man with whom he was traveling had taken seats in the middle of the plane. The airline’s representative was unapologetic about the practice and suggested that “from the standard of personal comfort, these [forward seats] are the most desirable seats in the aircraft. Thus it should be made clear that the practice rather than one of discrimination is one of offering Negro accommodations and facilities which are equal or superior to those offered other passengers.”
In the fall of 1951, however, some of the airlines’ Jim Crow tricks would be revealed in a criminal complaint filed against American Airlines. Gabriel Gladstone, a twenty-two-year-old Jewish New Yorker, had begun a job as a reservations agent in the American Airlines office at LaGuardia earlier that year. But after working there for two months, he was dismissed for refusing to follow the Airlines “special instructions on how to handle Negro passengers.” As a trainee, Gladstone “was instructed to mark reservations with a symbolic E111, if the passenger was a Negro, or in the case of a telephone reservation, was presumed to be Negro.” These codes, he was informed, would be used to implement the airline’s policy of “segregating Negro passengers on flights and preferring white applicants for airplane accommodations on waiting lists.” When Gladstone began taking reservations, a supervisor observed him failing to mark “a reservation with a code even though the applicant had a southern accent,” and fired him on the spot. Gladstone reported his experience to the American Jewish Congress, which helped him file a complaint charging American Airlines with violating New York civil rights law.
Gabriel Gladstone’s complaint underscored that Black flyers suffered indignities that went beyond segregated seats. American Airlines’ policy directed its employees to put Negro passengers “on waiting lists for reservations,” a practice that appears to have been widespread. Black travelers were first in line for any kind of travel disruption, and were sometimes bumped to make room for white passengers. According to one post-World War II letter writer who wondered whether American democracy was worth fighting for, such interruptions could involve something as direct as an “airline agent saying ‘I’m sorry but your reservation has been postponed due to an unexpected request from a white passenger.’”
Not even well-known African Americans were spared such slights, as Jackie Robinson and his wife found out when they traveled from Los Angeles to Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1946. Hired to play for the Montreal Royals that year, Robinson was due to begin spring training as the first Black player ever to play major league baseball. Excited to be traveling in style, the couple arrived at LAX dressed to the nines for their American Airlines flight, and were embarrassed when Robinson’s parents saw them off with a supply of sandwiches that seemed more suited to a cross-country journey in the Jim Crow [train] car. But the food came in handy. The Robinsons were bumped from their first flight during a layover in New Orleans, and ended up spending twelve hours at the New Orleans airport, which did not serve Black customers in its coffee shop or restaurant. When they were finally allowed to resume their journey to Daytona, they were ordered off the plane in Pensacola, Florida, where their flight stopped to refuel. The airline needed to make room for three white passengers. The Robinsons finished their journey by Greyhound bus, on which they were forced to ride in the back, and they could not eat at the roadside restaurants along the route. By then their sandwiches were long gone, and they were too insulted to order food to go, so they sustained themselves on that twelve-hour leg of the journey by eating apples and candy bars.
Likewise, jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald was bumped off a plane in Honolulu in 1954. On her way from San Francisco to Sydney, Australia, for a concert tour, Fitzgerald was traveling with an accompanist and her secretary, who were also African American, when her journey was cut short. After getting off the plane when it stopped to refuel in Honolulu, Fitzgerald and her companions were not allowed to reboard, not even to retrieve the clothes and other personal items they had left behind. They then had to wait three days before they could get another flight. Pan American Airlines claimed that they were bumped through “inadvertence,” but Fitzgerald sued the company for racial discrimination and won, receiving $7,500 in damages.
As more Blacks began to fly, southern segregation ordinances were eventually extended to airports, but the process was piecemeal and took some time, producing discriminatory practices that varied from airport to airport. “Segregation in air transportation is not uniform in Southern areas,” NAACP lawyer Robert Carter noted in 1949, “principally because it is a new means of transportation and age-old customs and usages do not immediately take hold.”
Congressman Charles C. Diggs of Michigan, who was an early Black frequent flyer, actually witnessed the development of segregation at airports. When he first began flying in the late 1940s, he was “heartened to see that this newer mode of conveyance was not into the old pattern of segregation and discrimination established by railroads and bus lines.” But this sense of satisfaction did not last long. He was soon disappointed to find that “undemocratic practices” were becoming common in airports, as he noted in a 1955 complaint to the president of Continental Airlines. In southern airports, he routinely encountered waiting rooms marked “for white only,” separate water fountains, “the refusal of limousines and taxi companies to carry Negroes . . . [and] discrimination and/or segregation against Negroes in airport restaurants.”
A Black Air Force officer who stopped for a drink at the New Orleans airport’s bar in 1955 was greeted by an attendant who informed him that “the only way. . . . [he] could be served was if he agreed to take his drink outside the building.”
Airport segregation could be humiliating even to Black passengers who never experienced it directly. On planes that stopped to refuel in the South, white passengers were told “to depart for lunch in the terminal’s restaurant,” while “Blacks were instructed to stay on the plane and eat boxed lunches because blacks were not allowed in the terminal’s restaurant.”
The complete desegregation of American airports would not be accomplished until 1963, after a long series of public protests and Department of Justice lawsuits. Likewise, months of freedom rides, federal pressure, and an order from the U.S. Supreme Court were required to bring about the 1961 desegregation of interstate buses and bus stations in the South, while segregation remained in effect in many roadside restaurants and hotels until well after the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Despite Black travelers’ sustained opposition to the segregation of public accommodations, the shaky legal ground on which segregated interstate travel facilities stood, and the complications they imposed on businesses, travel segregation proved difficult to overturn.

Dudes, my father is black and pulled himself out of the ghetto and graduated college while working full time to support his family in the early 1960’s. My parents were disowned, and it was illegal for them to be married in all the southern states because my mother is white. They suffered a ton of racism. but they worked hard, so my brother and I could be raised in a middle class neighborhood in Southern California. I couldn’t get much help for college, so I also worked full time and my parents sent me as much money as they could until I graduated. They did the same for my brother. We both work hard to be successful, and we learned this from from my parents who have been married for 62 years now. I am grateful to have parents that have overcome racism and poverty with grace and determination their entire lives. They are not race baiters and find the Hens sort of conversation counterproductive as do I. The Hens on the View are extremely hateful and ignorant! 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️
In addition, I get tired of the Hens complaining about the lack of Black representation in government. They can thank the 1877 Democrats for that because up until that time Black Republicans were in both the House and Congress. After the passage of 1877 law, the KKK rose as an active part of the Democrat Arm to discourage Black voting, and government participation. The Compromise of 1877, and Jim Crow Laws were all voted on by the Democrats and they did set African Americans back. This why Tim Scott, and people like my dad, represents the not the exception, but just one of the many Black Republican men who are among the best our people have to offer. 💪🏽✌🏾🫶🏽

America is an idea that we’re still striving to realize until a movement began to focus on past injustices instead of seeing where we are now. It physically upsets me to think that you youngsters may never get to experience what America was before the madness and what it could be. I don’t think we’ll ever be the same. Tim Scott gives me hope. The views of Whoopi and Ms Hostin are so detrimental to not only the black American’s mindset but to the white liberal “saviors” who need a cause to feel good about themselves. Y'all are spot on when talking about the Republican party. This is a story I read a long time ago that sums up what the party is largely about:
I recently asked my friends' little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to be President some day. Both of her parents, liberal Democrats were both standing there. I asked her, 'If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?' She replied, 'I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people.' Her parents beamed. 'Wow, what a worthy goal.' I told her, 'But you don't have to wait until you're President to do that. You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and sweep my yard, and I'll pay you $50. Then I'll take you over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house.' She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, 'Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?' I said, 'Welcome to the 'Republican Party'. Her parents still aren't speaking to me.

I think that normal people that wouldnt even think of running for office emphasize too much the duty aspect and forget the pleasure / gratification aspect that alot of public figures have from being famous or publicly known. Taxes are there to give money to the goverment to spent on the public and to balance out the advantages that rich people have to control the gap between poor and rich. When you cut taxes more for the rich than for the poor you are not balancing anything, you are draining the income of the goverment for the benifit of the rich and you're giving the poor a dollar to shut up.

It was a 30 minute right to and from across town everyday (lived in Fort Lauderdale). I was on the waiting list until I got accepted in high school. As an adult I went back and worked at the Title I middle school I attended. I was always in gifted/ advanced classes and always got disrespected and picked on for it. It wasn't until I went to high school that I saw kids, especially black kids, competing and pushing each other to get straight A's, score well on placement tests and participate in things like dual enrollment. I felt like a fish out of water and struggled in those years.
Back at my middle school now as an adult I saw that the issues had worsened. On multiple occasions I had to pull students out of the bathroom who were engaged in intercourse. Many of whom had been placed in the ESE program. The amount of time and money dedicated to students with behavioral problems had risen significantly and sadly many of them were on the road to receiving a "Certificate of Attendance" as opposed to a HS Diploma. One 14 year old was sneaking a 32 year old man into her bedroom at night. When we finally got mom in she confessed that she was aware but that she was busy taking care of her newborn and the other 3 children (despite not having a job outside of the home). I couldn't get away with that at 25 much less 14.
I still ultimately went to college and got my degree. I got married (as only 25% of black women will). I left my career after 5 years to be a SAHM. And I now homeschool our 4 children (soon to be 5). I now run a small (mostly hands off) business from home. We chose the strategy that offers the most success. A biblical strategy.
It's not about the school. It's about the home environment and the community. There were Asian kids and East Indian kids and African kids in those Title I schools I attended. They went on to do very well. Their families had expectations and showed them discipline and determination.
When I later worked as a clerk for the County Court I looked up many of my elementary school classmates and sadly discovered that a shocking amount now had records, mug shots and long prison sentences (mostly for drug related crimes). What's the excuse for it? We all grew up in a middle class neighborhood that had a mix of "races" and mostly 2 parent homes. My parents were married before later getting divorced. A lot of it is the family dynamics.
My maternal family is Bahamian. They were hard-working, loved America, were entrepreneurial and didn't tolerate the nonsense and laziness.
It starts at home. Home is everything.
My grandparents immigrated here nearly a century ago. They owned their home and 4 rental properties at retirement. A maid and a janitor. They were married for 60 years and still flirtatious. I saw that and not only knew I could have that but wanted it! ❤❤❤

Crap about 25% of Black women will get married. That's not true! Your experience will be your experience and nothing wrong with expressing that!

That's a wonderful story. Unfortunately what happens to a lot of Black people is that they see a successful story (of their own sometimes) and it never occurs to them why anyone else couldn't have that same story so they try to find things they know about to explain the differences.
Here's the reality: I don't know how old you are but education was really pushed for Black people in the 1960s. Mostly I believe because there were a lot of prominent Black leaders who probably seemed to be pretty educated. The Black Panther Party for example was mostly based on radical education. But then those leaders, one by one, were shot down, jailed or eliminated in some way. And that left a void. For a lot of Black people the standard to which they could look to was gone. By the govt. By white people the local, state and fed govt protected. And that has never been replaced.
Perhaps being from a private school in FL you didn't have the effects of being treated like a 2nd class citizen splash on you. Perhaps you weren't psychologically affected by having to look down or talk softer when in the presence of white people. I don't know what FL was like in your town but perhaps the fact that you had strong figures to look up to in your view of reference that access to and who had a strong interest in helping you succeed.
You mentioned your middle school. You said the time and money for the ESE students rose but that they were on track to receive "Certificate of Attendance" rather than a HS diploma. Why would they be getting a certificate if more time/money is being given to support them? Perhaps it's not just the fact that the mom was clearly over her head. Maybe she has no support. Maybe she has no support because unlike you she didn't have anyone in her life that took a vested interest in her education the same way she can't with her children. Maybe when her parents or grandparents or great grandparents tried to find a way out of their circumstances, the education system, or the legal system or the one of the other systems was there to make sure it didn't happen. Maybe psychologically it splashed on them.
You mentioned that your family is from Bahamas, immigrated here in the mid 20th century and that they were had working. You say it as if the racism in this county had no effect on you and your family and therefore shouldn't have affected any other Black people in this country. It's a little like showing up at a party while the police is there, blood is on the floor and saying you want to dance so why isn't the music turned up.
We need to fix what is in place, not pretend it doesn't exist or that there are inherent "good" or "bad" types of Black people.
