TINNY EXPEDITION - Exploring, fishing and camping the NW coast of Fraser Island as it burns - Part 1
Вставка
- Опубліковано 20 лис 2020
- In this video I explore the north west coast of Fraser Island in my tinny. I swag camp in Wuthumba Creek and go fishing around Rooney's Point in search of the juvenile Black Marlin. I also do some mud crabbing in Wuthumba Creek. I end up catching a School Mackerel and slice it up for some delicious sashimi. I’ll also give you a sneak peak at the fire that is currently raging in Fraser Island.
After a significant amount of time out of my boat due to an injury its good to be back.
So I hope you enjoy the video.

Cheers mate. 🍻
@@AusAdventure I just watched this vid from start to finish (I had to skip through it a bit the other day). Really enjoyed it mate. You have to watch those fingers near the crab claws haha!. Loved your little camp site, also love your boat set up. Keep making these vids and I`ll keep watching them. Great drone shots and great editing champion. 10 outa 10.
@@TropicalZooms thanks again mate. 🍻
I love it. Good stuff. Good tips. Thx.
Thanks for watching it mate.
@@AusAdventure I'm f-ing addicted to it. I've got a 17 foot v-hull that I'm outfitting for camping in the states (Portland, OR, US) fiberglass tho. Next boat will be aluminum hull.
@@mikerousepdx nice mate. Gotta love boat camping trips.
Absolutley magic mate...beautiful part of the country
Cheers mate. Thanks for watching
That was a good video bummer not more fish. IT was funny once you noticed you snapped the Rod.
Yeah it took me a while to notice the rod. Thanks for watching mate. 👍
Awesome video. Looking forward to the next one👍
Thanks mate 👍 working on the next one atm..
Good work, enjoying the vids, I hope you keep them coming.
Thanks mate. Wish I could make more but they will keep coming…..slowly.
Great to catch up, sorry we couldn’t buy a fish that day. Love how you included the line tangle with Dan lol
Yeah mate good to see you guys. I’m sure we will get something next time. 👍
@@AusAdventure Emmett wants more videos of daddy and said try and catch fish next time haha
"add to watch later list" cant wait to check it out brother!
Awesome mate. Hope you enjoy it.
Looked like a fun trip. 👍
It was!
I really enjoyed that video mate. Great edit. The bush fires got pretty hectic over the next few days! Keen to see the next one.
Thanks mate. I got some drone footage of the fires which will be in the next one. Wish I could catch a few more fish though.
@@AusAdventure i think you get to a stage when people just watch for the adventure not the fishing 🤙🤙
Yewwww be waiting for a Vid, Glad the recovery went well🤙🏼
Thanks mate. Wish I caught some more fish but it was a good trip. 👍🍻
Your back!
I hope that foot healed up good n proper.
Great vid & looking forward to part two 🎣🚤
Cheers mate. Foot is still giving me plenty of grief but cortisone and pain killers sure help. 🍻
Love your honest content man. Funny when you broke the rod, it will give you a excuse to buy a new one!
Thanks mate. Yeah already thinking of what rod to buy. 👍👍
Thanks for vid, looking forward to more 🍺
No worries mate. Thanks for watching.
Nice work 👍
I reckon it was a good job on the filleting!
Thanks mate
Good video man, keen for pt 2 👍🏽 back in the day we used to set to skirts to surf in one of the the pressure waves behind the boat, then as your accelerating over swell etc it’ll pop and aerate.. hope that helps with where to run them 🤷🏻♂️ been close to 20yrs since I’ve trolled like that tho so I might be way off 😂
Cheers mate. Yeah I’m new to chasing Marlin so any tips will help. Thanks for watching. 🍻
The hat looks good mate I want one 👍. Nice work with the vids
Thanks mate. Glad you like the hat and the vids. 🍻
Nice

Hey mate, great video. When you're overnighting on shore do you just anchor your boat with one anchor or use another method? Cheers
Hi Tom ideally I like to anchor and use another line to tie the stern of the boat to an object on shore. But if there is nothing to tie too it’s just the one anchor. 🍻
@@AusAdventure cheers mate, much appreciated
Mate just an off topic question If you put your boat in at the Broadwater and do a trip to North Stradie or Moreton how long does it take on average
Mate it all depends on how fast your boat goes in the particular weather condition at the time and exactly where on Straddie or Moreton you want to go. With my boat loaded up for camping it might take a couple of hours to get to the bottom of Moreton. The best thing for you to do is work it out based on your boat. Its 45nm as the crow flies to Tangalooma so following the channels it will be longer so at 20knts its over two hours to get there. Hope that helps
Hey mate like your setup . What motor are you running ?
It’s a Honda 30hp mate. Thanks for watching the vid. 🍻
Thanks mate 👍
hey mate how long does it take to get from hervey bay to wathumba creek
Mate depends on how fast your boat is and what the weather conditions are like. It’s 26nm as the crow flies so that’s an hour if your boat goes 26 knots and you can go straight there. In my boat, full of camping gear it’s about 2 hours in calm conditions.
mate whats that bait/cutting board you go on the side rail
It’s called a Fish-N- Board. I was given it as a gift probably 10 years ago so I can’t tell you where to get one. Thanks for watching mate. 👍🍻
Great vid mate was really handy as am planning a tinny trip up there in the nxt few wks starting out of Harvey bay got any recommendations for gd camp spots??
Cheers mate. I really like Coongul Creek as its not as busy as Wuthumba and a lot closer to Urangan Boat Harbour. But anywhere on the west coast, north of Moon Point is beautiful. 👍
@@AusAdventure thanks budd will suss it on on the map an I spoke it all depends on wind direction too?
@@bigd4000 yeah south easter is the pick of the wind.
@@AusAdventure rgr will remember that 👍 Brett from Coastal Chaos who lives up that way an fishes Fraser all the time (check out the 10ft bull shark vids from a few wks ago) recommended a pretty accurate weather app for that area called Windy 👍👍
Hey mate what tinnie you running
Quintrex 4.2m topender. My USB install video has a bit of an overview on it if your interested.
How much fuel do you use on these trips mate?
I take about 75L but usually get hame with 10-15L spare.
id buy a hat bud
Awesome mate. Will have some on my website in the next couple of weeks. www.ausadventure.net
@@AusAdventure id love if u could give my channel a sub just sold my 420 renegade will be buying a new boat next month ill send u one of my hats for free ya legend

how big is your tinny (Length) - I am looking at buying a 2005 fishing boat 40hp 4 stroke Length 13 foot tinny aluminium fishing in the bay - do you think it is ok.. any info is good thank you - I love fishing like ur Vids. and the action when u hook up on the Mackerel ..
Hi Sorin, my boat is 4.2m in length. Even if I had a bigger one it’s all about checking the weather conditions and only going out when it’s good. There is plenty of good fishing places you will be able to go in a 13 footer. Thanks for watching. 🍻
I’d be keen on buying a hat if you start selling them mate
Cheers mate. Hats my be a while off but I am having stubbie coolers made at the moment which I may sell. Still trying to work out how to go about it. Thanks for watching
