My biggest gripe about Ecamm is that it has the best video layout, but horrible audio. It phases a lot, dropouts, poor quality, certain microphones don't play nice and sound horrible.
Riverside FM has the best system for sound and video quality, which would seem to be a really obvious fix for Ecamm to adopt, so hopefully, they go with the local record audio and video feature that then uploads to the cloud.
Ecam is a lot more versatile and has cool features, but in the end, if the audio sucks, then it is game over, no one wants to listen, and if you're trying to also create audio for a podcast, it's horrible.
I hope Ecamm's next version, incorporates the local to cloud feature then stream, and get away from the straight to stream.

Great chat, this looks very interesting.
I did have a question, is the Guest connection to the Ecamm Live host a peer to peer connection, or is it running through Ecamm's servers? You mentioned the need for a 5mb connection on the Guest side so that leads me to think it is a direct connection with no compression. When using Skype we are connecting through their servers and often experience lags, drops and a digitized sound. In this interview Glen's video looked great and his audio was perfect, definitely not Skype quality.

The calls do not pass through the Ecamm servers, they come in via browser over VoIP and into Ecamm Live Software on your Mac. There is no data collected by Ecamm or stored in the cloud in any way. Hope this helps! 👍

Have you fixed the audio problem where the echo appears on the guest side?

No need! For PCs we recommend using vMix - it's awesome ❤️ and does everything Ecamm does, and more! 🎉

@@LiveStreamingPros but you know that it's not affordable like us I just think you should make it available for PC too.

Actually, vMix is a one time cost, but Ecamm is a reoccurring monthly charge.

@@LiveStreamingPros ohh ok I see that makes sense thank you. So which plans do you suggest for me because I do videos podcasts and I have a green screen too I want to be very professional

It depends on what you need...how many inputs, do you want to use vMix Call, how many overlays, etc. Here are a couple of links that will help you figure it out: www.vmix.com/purchase/#comparisontable and www.vmix.com/knowledgebase/article.aspx/48/which-edition-of-vmix-do-i-need Also, keep in mind that you can test out all the features for 30 days to help you decide. And if you ever need to upgrade from what you buy, you only pay the difference between the levels!
