I wouldn't be doing videos to spread the awareness and share the passion, if this wasn't all for the love of watches
Your videography and editing is mesmerising. 👌
Hafiz, you consistently deliver the most objective, useful, and direct watch reviews to be found anywhere on the Internet. It seems like a simple formula: a little history, a little commentary on design and construction, plenty of wrist shots in different positions and against different colored shirts, detailed macro shots... just exactly what anyone who gave it any thought would create. And yet, you are the only one I have found that delivers the goods.
Outstanding review. Said all that need to be said and nothing that didn't. Watch manufacturers should kneel with fear before your macro lens, that finishing was totally unacceptable at this price point.
I don’t understand why this watch isn’t hotter. It’s stunning, historic, unique, and a strong name.
Will definitely rise throughout years
Because it fails at the one thing a watch must do. Be easy to tell the time.
Best place to see how a watch actually wears on the wrist! Thank you for making these videos, Hafiz!
Finally! Thank you for this one, i was waiting for it. Thanks for highlight the points that was not on the top, but yes, regardless, it still is the worlds first wrist watch. And look good for the eye from a distance. Great job, well done :)
Hafiz - your video quality and content coverage is one of the best on UA-cam. It's hard to find better macro shots than your videos :). Keep killing it bro!!
Excellent review! While other channels have a macro presentation you go into all the micro details which I truly appreciate. I’d definitely buy this watch now seeing how you can remove or make adjustments to the bracket so easy. I’d also go with the white dial for better legibility.
The quality and content of your videos is simply sublime.
Thank you for the wonderful review. I love mine smudges and all, I find it mesmerizing. Keep up the good work.
What a fantastic review Hafiz! Great job! Sharp as always
Every watch you wear looks perfect, not sure how you do it. Great video.
I always enjoy your videos. I'll add my voice to those requesting a review of the medium white dial.
each of your videos is a piece of art 😍
This was an amazing and balanced presentation of the Santos. Many thanks!
Your videos are special , keep it up the good work
Hey Hafiz you make the best watch videos on UA-cam!! Thank you! Funny I just wanted to write you and request a Santos de Cartier video 😅 I think this piece is too big. I love the midsize Santos 💙😍
Would love to see a macro review of the latest large manual wind Tank Louis. There seems to be none on UA-cam
What a beautiful watch. I’m yet to see one in person. Definitely one to aspire too. This or the Medium.
Will purchase this piece real soon this will be a rare one for the future
Nice looking watch. I love how it wraps around the wrist in an ergonomic way. Tool free adjustment of the bracelet and strap switching is state of the art. My only concern is that the movement is fairly average having only 42 hours of reserve which is behind even Tissot and Rado these days. Perhaps it’s just meant for a special occasion one off wear. I like the black out version for the lume. But overall it’s a lot of tech for the money and away from the gravitational pull of all things Rolex which has become something of a running joke in recent years.
Fantastic review. Happy to be a subscriber.
Such an excellent, thorough review! I wish Cartier had an automatic option on sizes other than XL models, (like Must), which are huge on the wrist.
The Santos de Cartier comes in medium.
Elegant piece. I'd go one size down personally on my 6.7 inch wrist but I'd wear that for sure. Bracelet is incredible but I also have become a fan of a taper. Wouldn't kill the deal on a mid size version.... The thinness is lovely. Only a column wheel chronograph is excusable over 13mm. Everything else needs a thin eta if the in house is tall as heck...(eh hem...Tudor)
Should've reviewed the Medium/silver version with the iconic blue hands.
I love it! Wearing mine while watching this :D
I know most of you guys would prefer the white dial medium Santos de Cartier... But holy this blue was always my jam and I prefer it over the more classic white...
I bought the Santos recently
Thanks to you, I took a loupe and inspected the dial, which was flawless. I showed the salesman your video including the macro shots of the damaged hands. He was shocked and said that should never come out of Cartier and if they had that in store they'd replace it immediately.
I suggest taking a loupe with you when you go to buy
If you pay close attention to the video, in particular when the seconds hand is moving, you can notice that the smudges and the debris is on top of the crystal and not inside the watch. The minute hand does look bad though.
It could be a fake he is reviewing.
@@beermansf9791😂
The medium white dial is the one to get. Such a sleeper in the watch world, knowing the current mania which is ravaging the watch world, long may it continue.
Indeed. I just wish they made more dials to choose from. A gray medium santos would be perfect.
@@storck08 can you imagine an olive green and eggshell coloured indices dial? 🔥
@@muntublackson4757 that would be sweet!
My midsize santos, my only one actually!!! As you say, more dials could be cool, but Cartier are not the must fun brand and still for me traditional
@@muntublackson4757 😍
Been waiting for this review ever since I see you post it on the community post ..I have the same just purchased but in the medium and white dial. The smart link bracelet just takes it to another level. Stunning piece, just not a fan of the dark blue dial, if it was a Vacheron Constantin overseas sun burst blue or a bluesy Sub Rolex suburst dial, it would be more eye catching. The QC issues on this model is not good. Iam so glad I got the medium white dial.
This piece for the price point outshines the Vacheron, seriously. Macro on the Overseas is also disappointing for the price point. With that said, most $20K above with macro are not where they should be, perfect.
Wonderful review, I think you were very indifferent and highlighted the pros and cons. Greta work.
Wow, you reviewed this pcs !
I am waiting mine too , hopefully can get by next week
Would love to hear if you see the same poor finishing on the dial.
@@Judah.Rosenthal It wouldn't be the same across the board. Same when this channel shows Rolex with the same imperfections on the GMT especially.
@@Judah.Rosenthal too bad I don’t have macro lens
Another great review, Hafiz, thank you.
I’m glad I’ve seen your video as I was thinking about adding this watch to my collection, you’ve saved me a small fortune.Thanks.
Thank you, just thank you, this one is on my radar.
Awesome review, thank you so much!
Very nice watch with a poorly made dial indeed. I would love to see a review of Chopard alpine eagle 41mm. I like that watch very much and hope you'll make one day a video with it
Every time I see the Large Santos on anyone with a regular/ small wrist, It just looks large. Ended up going with a Medium for my 7” wrist. Iconic watch none the less and great review!
Does it wear too small? Thinking of getting the medium for my 6.5" wrist. Agree the large wouldn't look right on regular wrists.
@@n.h187 I don’t think so.. I tried both on in the AD To be sure.. I was wearing a speedmaster 42 that day by the way. And the large really stood out as slightly large. The medium was much cleaner and better sized for the style IMO. I also have a black bay 58, and newest airking I wear. My sweet spot id say is 38-40 usually.
@@Jbcd602 agreed 💯 The large almost looks bigger then a 42 because it's square. I have the medium and I have a 6 and 3/4 inch wrist and it's the one to get. Iconic and stunning piece. They will discontinue that blue as it's just a phase. The white and blue hands 35mm medium is wear it's at, hence the reason I didn't think twice.
Went to buy a medium left with a large. Medium is incredibly small in real life on my 17cm wrist. It was really like trying a lady's watch 😅. Large is perfect; More presence and way more masculine. Medium looks good on Instagram but it's tiny and sI usually hate bigger watch.
thanks for great review again!! I am waiting for you to review GIRARD-PERREGAUX - Laureato 42mm in Steel !!!!
While the Santos is a nice classic design. The macro shots really show the sloppiness of the finishing. Omg
Please review the medium the two tone version. Thank you!
Very nice review Hafiz, under the macro, Cartier needs to be more careful in their finishing, more if you think in the heritage of the brand, and the price you have to pay for the watch.
Love to see your review of the Omega Globemaster Annual Calendar. A great watch.

Im a stickler for finishing but the Santos is a watch i would still buy knowing all its imperfections
No one should be surprised by the blemishes under macro, nor the subpar build quality. Cartier is a jewelry house, not a watch maker after all. Most people don’t want to admit it, but Cartier is the brand that puts the word “fashion” in “fashion watches”.
Brilliant. Thank you, lad.
I love this watch! ❤
I prefer the cartier santos in large. The medium looks bigger on wrist shots.. but if you try it on and look at yourself in the mirror and see it with your whole body, its too smaaaalll for me at least. like the dial is almost only as big as the fingernail on your thumb.......
Agreed. My wife loves the medium for her, I liked it for me as well but felt overall the large was where its at
The most elegant watch ever. I bet classic dial would look far better under macro...
pure class.
Cartier is GOD Tier of all watches! What I don't like about the applied markers is the hidden Cartier on the roman numeral VII or V, otherwise a wonderful piece from the House of Cartier with so much horological history.
Because you mentioned it in your video, the FIRST three dive watches date back to 1953 by three watch makers - 1. Rolex Submariner; 2. Zodiac Sea Wolf, and 3. the Blancpain 50 Fathoms. Where both Rolex and Blancpain went lux and high price, Zodiac remains true to their humble roots. Another GREAT vid JM - tku.
I'd love to see some macro shots of the Santos Medium!
Excellent review. The Medium white dial would be the Cartier I’d consider. I’ve seen the large on other people’s wrists and it looks awkwardly big. The macro shots unveiled disappointing quality from a “luxury” brand 🤦🏻♂️.
Your videos are just fantastic. The Cartier is a very beautiful watch with an independent design, but the quality of workmanship is far from the price range.
Great video 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Very helpful presentation
This piece for the “price point” outshines most, seriously. It is drop dead gorgeous to look at, different than the normal watches, has history, innovative, to me, easy to read, thin as a slice of butter, can be used casually or for dress.
Additionally, most $20K and above watches with a macro lens are not even close to where they should be, perfect. For instance, the royal oak does not even have a quick set date in 2021.
The only watch in this price range that is nearly perfect is Grand Seiko.
Wonderful review, I think you were very indifferent and highlighted the pros and cons. Great work.
For $20k, you shouldn’t be expecting perfection. Also, AP’s 15300, 15400 and 15500 all have quick set dates. The 15202 doesn’t have it because it uses caliber 2121, which is a JLC movement from the original 5402 kept for heritage purposes.
Thank you for the review, was thinking of getting the blue over the classic silver dial but since the applied markers smudges and the lume sucks... will go with the classic silver. Btw can I suggest that you add the lines and numbers when showing the watch dimensions like your comparison video between OP and DJ 😉
You really need to look at this blue dial in person, it’s mesmerizing. Try on both and make your opinion.
@@stonec2166 I have tried both, the blue dial is beatiful but I agree with the review that its not very legible, the silver dial is classic Cartier, less sporty. So after seeing the macro shots, I will go for the classic silver.
I would love a ceramic bezel to prevent scratches. Better yet, ceramic case and bezel.
Very good review. It changes my mind of actually buying the blue dial version of this watch. I'll keep my Santos large with white dial.
@@bondking0077 He made it plain that the dust, dirt, and scratches cannot be seen by the naked eye, but only under a powerful macro lense.
Excellent review of a potentially exquisite watch Hafiz. But Cartier does need to improve its quality control...
I liked the critique of the watch
For Pilot and aviation enthusiast, large blue dial will be the one to purchase, IMHO
I wish they made this blue dial in medium size for my scrawny wrist 😢
Edit: Cartier just announced a medium blue Santos!
I love you dude - zero fucks given. Also loved the octo vid. Your standards are high.
Ya, everyone running around with a loop
😏. If your lucky enough to get one, do and enjoy. Its a dream come true in blue👍👌
Well this Apple Watch is more expensive than I thought! Altough looks way nicer.
It's a great video.
How many inches (centimeters) is the wrist of the model in the video?
What a shame…this is my watch crush for the time being. Almost ready to walk into Cartier store to check it out. Gotta being my loupe with me:)
I was in the market for one of these; not anymore. The macro lens revealed a lot.
Great video can u do the medium size
Very good review, as usual. Thank you! Nice watch but I little disappointed about size. When I tried Santos large on my 6.5 wrist, that was huge. I’m seeing a video with your 6.5 wrist and it’s look ok.
Bro same
I've just shy of 7 inch wrist, bought large. My wife liked the medium on her but in truth I could also have wore medium no problem
Nice video. But agree with your assessment
My father born 1904 too. Nice.
Great video. Can’t believe the poor finishing on the hands and hour markers.
I opt for Cartier Tank MC blue
Im more interested in the model in his videos that his watch review
Bracelet is a winner of course, but i wish they made the screw heads aligned
I recently tried one on after lusting for one. The clasp felt cheap and don’t like the fact the screw on the bezel arent lined up 😬. On the other hand it looks beautiful on the blue leather strap
Jack Forster did a deep dive on this years ago. Personally, I think the “wabi” aspect is appealing and we’d all be disappointed if they lined up. Additionally, the screws in the bracelet are for show so it’s def on purpose that they don’t line up.
Inner clasp is pretty sharp. Gave ma a major discomfort. Did you notice that?
Surprised because it is left unrounded!
Cartier, pls update the medium size to 38.5mm x 46.0mm that would feel like 40-41mm round watch. This 39.8 x 47.5 looks n feels like a 42mm round watch. Thanks for the vid, man.
I was really interested in the Cartier Santos finishing and it kinda makes sense their finishing standard 🤷🏻♂️ I thought the hour markers would be better but it’s still a gorgeous watch
I wonder if the silver dial with blue hand exhibits any of the similar craftsmanship issues.
You’re terrific made a pretty good video. I didn’t see any of these issues. And I don’t see in mine but haven’t looked under a loupe. ua-cam.com/video/xPLwVuz-VvY/v-deo.html
@@Judah.Rosenthal ive looked at silver dial tank under a loupe and it was perfect... but... the magnification in this video is better than my loupe.
Good review
Finishing seems to be like many other brands sadly, including the crown. Thankfully you can’t see these with the naked eye usually, still bothersome.
One thing is that you cannot see the debris, dust and smudge marks with the naked eye most likely. But, they are asking a lot of money for this watch, one would have thought that they put a lot of work and care into making the watch, but this just makes it seem like it's overprices.
To be fair the price point is not haute horology
what do you think about the skeleton version?
I can't help wishing they would line the screws up on the case.
Look at a Rolex , under a Macro Lens and you will see similar, or Patek, JLC, or AP
It's beautiful
The flaws shown in the macro shots are appalling. Could you have been dealing with a fake? Is the white dialed Santos as bad?
I do love the aesthetics of the watch I still have a minimum expectation of the finishing of a luxury watch, this simply doesn’t make the grade! Unfortunate really as the design is beautiful!
“Putting the watch under the macro the results are…” (commercial!!)
Oof the finishing is poor for such an expensive watch. No excuse when you have perfect finishing from Grand Seiko at the same price.
Excellent point that
At 6:39 - This is a beautiful watch, but up close it is shockingly unimpressive.
Seems like the attention to detail of an Ali Express watch. I have to wonder if this is a knock off???
Shocking quality under macro really for a £6k watch
With the Cabochon on the Crown, where's the Matching Purse? 😂
Can you do a "medium" santos review and place it under the same macro lens?
I have the medium so would prefer him not. lol.
Great review. You missed nothing.
Look at my Rolex gmt master pepsi, the same debris and dust inside...
