JOYO R-17 DARK FLAME | Quick REVVED UP Tones (no talk)

- With a sound that burns as hot as the name would suggest, the Joyo R-17 DARK FLAME isn't for the player who only wants a slight crunchy tone. Nope, this is the pedal you want if you're looking for that amp about to lose it's sh*t sound, that stays articulate even at maximum gain settings. And then you flip the switch to Dark or Bright, and it gets EVEN MORE aggressive.

The sound at 3:02 or so is pure bliss
And oh so tweakable... 😁
Sounds bad ass. Im putting it on the list.
Thank you for sharing this one....
My pleasure!
This is the betterest demo I have seen for this pedal:
:)
Thank you! 🙏🏻
Nice review, next please make a demo of joyo argus Overdrive thanks.
So why is the revv g3 so pricy great video
Hello! Was it going into to amp's input or the return? Cheers!
Amp's input!
What’s the noise floor like on this pedal?
Did I hear some Randy tones in there?
Is this a Revv clone? It sounds like one. It sounds great!
Can't confirm or deny. 😁
According to the internet, and "responses" from Joyo alluding to it, it is inspired by the Revv G4 pedal. They haven't confirmed it, but they have confirmed it.
@@andrewsmith3993 Thanks for this. When I saw the controls I was immediately suspicious, and then I heard "that" sound 😉 Having built a clone of the G4 myself, it sounded quite familiar.
@@nathanguy981 Did there's G4 clone kit outta there?
@@palmmutestudio5791 PedalPCB Sanguine. You may also like the Tyrian.
This looks better for metal than joyo uzi
is noise gate needed?
Probly,,,,with cheaper high gain metal pedals,,,,,most of the time u need them gated.
On the off setting if we put the gain on 0 can this act as a marshall in a box type of distortion or like a ds1?
The Joyo Uzi might be more what you're looking for: ua-cam.com/video/rq2QVmVDjNg/v-deo.html 😉
What amp are you using here?
A surprisingly good pedal platform for this type of pedal: the Joyo Jackman II on the clean channel. 😁
@@PedalPlatform How does it sound direct into the Two Notes Cab M? (Dark Flame -> Cab M)
@@PedalPlatform será que doaria bem no joyo zombie? Ele pode doar como um Marshall? E um mesa boogie dual?
mine have tons of noise
yes how you solution this problem ?? noise gate? :/
well duhh
Is this also a preamp?
Not designed as such, but it could probably be used straight into an FX return... 🤔
Ripoff from Revv G Family?
Po-ta-to, po-tah-to...
@@PedalPlatform hahaha, rip off. Sorry for typo.
but okay for cheapo guy non diy-er. Can be converted to G2 spec. The alternative? demonsfx, hahaha
Thanks bud, this encouraged me to get this badboy
I got mine 5 days ago on ebay, for 46 bucks plus 20% discount code theyre offering, total price 40 bucks tax and shipping included. For some reason i like more the chughing chords on my nano metal muff but the dark flame has better over tones its is like if the dark flame had an overdrive pedal in it 🤘
Joyo seems to me to be more of a higher quality cheap pedal brand. They're like the high end of the low end. I was thinking of getting a DS-1 but this sounds pretty good too. They're about the same in price. Whuddia think? Can anyone break the tie for me?
Hi Paul, Joyo are indeed getting their quality right. The pedals still feel cheaper than the Boss stuff, but I haven't had any for long enough to know how they survive in the (really) long term. But to your point between the Dark Flame and the DS-1: they are two very different animals. The DS-1 is the quintessential distortion pedal; the Dark Flame was made to sound like a really angry high gain amp. I would suggest trying to get your hands on both of them, try them with your setup, and then decide. I have both, and I'm keeping them! 😁
@@PedalPlatform Okay thanks. That helps.
sounds like a 5150
Damn this pedal sounds good for Thrash Metal.
Properly angry sound, I love it 😆
Hello Kitty strat deserves a like on its own!
Hello Kitty Strat is a metal head! 🤘🏻
First riff is Dream Theatre? Sounds great man
The last one is too 😁 Thank you🙏🏻
Switch to "off" position + "low gain" sounds great... Really articulate. Good potential for stacking into a clean amp, before a low gain pedal
Thanks for the thorough review... And thr captions 😂
Your demo sounds so different from most others, like everyone else likes the mids and highs, some really sound awful, yours sounds great! But: which one would you consider better or more versatile for small room low volume use (I have severe tinnitus) , this one or the Uzi? I'm kind of an all round guitarist, I have played and stil play everything from Sex Pistols and Ramones punk to Hendrix blues to UFO, Zeppelin, Van Halen rock to Pantera and 80s Metallica metal. I don't gig anymore, and my home setup w/ 15W tube amp won't cut it on its own, so I got me a couple of different sounding distortion/gain pedals but am still missing that metal tone. I usually play a Gibson (Flying V, Explorer, SG or Les Paul), and I own an old Ibanez w/ Floyd Rose that I rescued from a pawnshop, they were about to bin it, I spent a lot of time getting it playable again... Right now I'm thinking of ordering both, try and compare them, then keep the one I like best.
I'd definitely check both out. The Uzi is more of a Marshall in a box type pedal, and can get really heavy if you want it to (think Friedman BE-OD). The Dark Flame is a ridiculous high gain monster that will put a massive smile on your face if you're so inclined. I'd say that your use case mostly calls for the Uzi, but the DF is so good you might struggle to send it back anyway... 😁
@@PedalPlatform OK thanks! I ordered the Dark Flame for now, couldn't wait because there were some other things I desperately needed, like picks and strings etc, will definitely order the UZI too 😉
