Guess i'm sticking with this 1080ti for another however many years - everyone mocked it's price when it came out, but it's turned out to be a real workhorse

They should be measured in frames per dollar. I have no problem with only reducing currency requirements as long as they're not jacking prices to the moon. I can keep my 5700xt a few more years. It's fast enough.
Yeah. I came here to see why people didn't like this card back when it released (at the time i just heard it was bad, but not why it was bad) since i got one for around $225 and i'm pretty happy with it, but oh boy, i'd never pay more than 300 dollars on this one. Good lord, AMD, what were you thinking?
if you ever dont have enough time to watch a full hardware unboxed review, always always always listen to the "final thoughts" section. very helpful stuff.
Try? Try what? They're essentially selling a card for the same price and performance(sometimes lesser performance ) of a 2 year old card (5700xt). A 1080p card being sold for 380 dollars.. Wow. In case your comment was criticising amd was releasing such a useless card at such a price, then ignore my comment.
@@AJ-jq3hm, I think you missed the point. I think he's saying they didn't even try to make a good card, but they'll still probably sell every single one they can make.

OK so let me get this straight - You can get a 6600XT supposedly at MSRP which means you can get roughly RX 5700XT performance for.....RX 5700XT MSRP pricing....... That's actually a horrible move by AMD.
And don't forget that you won't probably get it for that price too... Which makes no sense at all, you're buying a 5700XT at an higher price than it was 2 years ago
Admittedly, I'm a very small minority here, but... The 5700 XT does not fit in my setup; the power consumption is slightly above what I allow. The power consumption cut on the 6600 XT is looking juicy to me. But let's be clear, the rest is shit. Should/would be cheaper in a stable market...

The sad thing is the 3070 Ti is better value vs the previous gen than the 6600 XT. 3070 Ti is a bit faster than the 2080 Ti while costing less (even with inflated street prices). The 6600 XT is a re-badged 5700 XT with less bandwidth on PCIe 3.0 systems, and you only save $20 at the mythical MSRP. I have the rx6600 XT mech 2x oc and it's been a really good card, it runs every game at 1080p ultra beautifully and can run games at 1440p pretty well aswell, if your not crazy over wanting the newest and most powerful card as they come out and just want premium gaming this card is a beast and is all you need
I agree. here in the uk, price for performance on the 6600xt is probably one of the best for the current situation when buying new, compared to the 5700xt which is unobtainable new pretty much. and compared to the price of the 3060 and 3060ti it is better bang for the buck, with them being priced at £500($650) and £600($780) and the 6600xt being about £400($520). for my personal use case, i chose the rx6600xt as it has a lower power consumption too, meaning i did not have to upgrade my power supply had i chosen a 3060 instead. @The King Did you mean just performance? Or implying you think that the card needs to "support" 2k? Even a 5500XT could *theoretically* game on 1440p, provided some games were old enough or settings turned down (tbh though I've played games on much older hardware if it's 44fps and not a shooter it's not the end of the world or to turn a setting down). If it's really identical to a 5700XT it's closer to intro to 1440p. I'd say 5700XT aged a bit by now but I still consider it an intro to 1440p, depending on title, like for example I can game on a 1440p monitor and get ~60fps on Deus Ex: Mankind Divided all ultra or close to 75fps on Witcher 3. So, if the cards are that close to performance, yeah just plug it on and turn your computer on and go. Nowadays idk I'd recommend that card for 1440p though and consider something like 3060ti to be closer to the intro-to-1440p mark due to more demanding titles. It's just that when they say "1440p card" what they really mean is nearly all games can run at least 60fps on it at all ultra settings, however that's clearly a potentially specious metric in that you can just turn down some settings or be satisfied with under 60fps. Believe me I suffered on crazy frame skipping, stuttering mess with XCOM2 when it first came out and I still had older hardware because I didn't prioritize PC upgrades at the time, which was so bad it felt weird to play XCOM2 with over 60fps smoothness all ultra after having dealt with the under 60fps and stuttering for hundreds of hours. (i.e. lower your standards for better results in disappointment if you don't wish to pay more for shiny toys/business machines)
The current hardware market killed the joy of assembling your own PC entirely due to ridiculous pricing and lack of true availability. The platform that is supposed to be the most diverse and accessible became the most privileged one. Terrible.
Mainly due to the supply constraints and excess demand, simple economics. I am just angry that even as supply and demand return to normal, it will take a while longer before prices creep back down where they used to be.
"he platform that is supposed to be the most diverse and accessible " lol? when? PCs were always less accessible and more expensive than consoles. My grandmother can go buy a PS4 and play all the modern games as the devs intended it
Hilarious now the "$380" (really $700) card is advertised as a 1080p gaming card where my R9 380 ($200) box says 1440p gaming. Oh did I say hilarious? I meant depressing.
@@NeVErseeNMeLikEDis I didn't mean to imply otherwise. It's just the baseline of performance has now skyrocketed in price due to the crypto boom and supply shortages. I'm talking about titles contemporaneous to each card. That's all I meant to say.
This goes for all gpu sellers/retailers/manufacturers right now. "They will drop the prices, when they have to" People are buying at inflated prices. So...... no need to drop prices
Dunno about the US, but here in Germany cards are all available even tho prices have gone down. So it seems people are not buying them rn. The 3060 is ~550€, the Ti version starts at 639€. All in stock, so they don't seem to sell like hot cakes.
The only "people" buying up all the gpu's at inflated prices are Scalper bots. I went to visit a friend recently and they had a micro center in their town. I saw shelves and shelves of AMD's 6000 lineup but at prices that rival scalper listings on ebay so they were just sitting there to the point where many of the boxes had dust on them. The market is being stubborn and not returning to normal and all you have left with real consumers buying at these bloated prices are now the few remaining people with more money than brain cells.
I believe prices will only start going down when shelves are getting filled, warehouses becoming full and retailers are not taking any more order from distributors
@@professionalinsultant3206 Yes I did. Very interesting information. I guess will have to wait to see what happens. If they don't sell those stock on the shelves.... Then they won't order anymore from distributors.... Then the manufacturers then know they have to cut prices to shift units etc.

I dont get the overly negative review given the context - this can be had for cheaper than the 3060, and it's significantly faster than that card at 1080p and more efficient to boot. Too much focus on graphics card prices from 2 years ago or Nvidia's mythical MSRPs.
Even 2 weeks after release in Europe AMD 6600 xt is cheaper than 3060. In my country is 10% cheaper when you compare cheapest versions. And you can get x16 too, so no problem with pci gen being old
@M Honestly sometimes it helps us by devaluing excellent hardware so we don't have to pay the premium that people buying memes do, i.e. paying nVidia. Me personally I'm glad I got RDNA, but the problem is, it still allows nVidia to Overton Window their way towards redefining "midrange" to be over a thousand dollars eventually, and that requires actively devaluing nVidia to about what they're worth, which in 3060's case is about $300 maybe. (yes, I'm serious. That's how far the price creep gouging re-normalized this b.s.) But it also stands to reason comparison to previous generations should be made, and that's including the pricing, so in other words talking about the complete lack of actual progress or better deals aka stagnation. I think a part of it is also reaching the quantum limits of transistor densities too though, and Alder Lake is only the beginning for expansion of die space both vertically (AMD) and horizontally (Intel). So eventually we'll see huge, absolutely massive GPU dies because quantum mechanics prevents us from making working 0.5nm process. So, there's that. All this stated yes you're absolutely right. I think the cards got shat on a bit too much considering how inefficient, juttery, power sucking, pricey$$$ and overall disappointingly uncompetitive nVidia has become in my book. They banked all their money on gimmicks and settled on proprietary raytracing and if this was any normal card launch AMD would've mopped the floor with them because of their stunningly terrible value this past gen. If there isn't any huge scalping epidemic this summer-fall then I think you're going to see nVidia's true value, which is comparable to AMD at best now, RDNA3 probably below it, possibly even losing their halo product in the process with a RX 7970XT beating the 4090ti. AMD just fucked up down the stack by greedily putting a laptop GPU on desktop and calling it 6500XT, hoping to make money while offering gamers more options but just looked bad, even though nVidia looked no better to me by shoveling future e-waste and diverting all those GPUs directly to miners.
Thing is that pricing is very unpredictable... In my country this card can be had for the equivelent of $100 less than the base RTX 3060 which makes it a pretty sweet deal (at least for now)
Inflation isn't going away anytime soon. Manufacturing cost are much higher than 2019 and 2022 doesn't look more promising. The cost of essential materials are up as much as 50%. The only slither of hope is that the demand for GPUs might lower once ethereum goes proof of stake... but there are plenty of other profitable coins to mine with a GPU. So if price gouging due to supply can go down that will be a good first step, but don't expect MSRP for current or new product (including next gen) to drop.

I'd still have my old system with a 760 in it, in case something goes wrong with my 2060. I know a lot of people were kind of dismissing that card when it came out (because it was the weakest in terms of the ray tracing and the 6gb of VRAM), but it has been a really solid 1440p card so far and at the time (at least where I live) it was a better value than its competitors. a 1070 which is slower cost 50 bucks more and a 1070ti was like 100 - 150 bucks more. Same for the RX Vega 56. And we've now even come to the point where the equivalent 2060 card costs 150+ bucks more when you buy them used... Honestly I think I was kind of lucky buying that 2060 when it came out. The fact that people were a bit dismissive and sceptical about it, left it less impacted by the insane prices that were even happening (2,5 years) back then. So, yeah I feel ya, I'm really trying to take good care of it, because I don't want to miss a GPU like this right now.
In not living in fear that my GTX 1080 will die, I would obviously prefer it didn't with the current market though, as purchasing a new card with current pricing would not feel good.

But it also stands to reason comparison to previous generations should be made, and that's including the pricing, so in other words talking about the complete lack of actual progress or better deals aka stagnation.
In my country this card can be had for the equivelent of $100 less than the base RTX 3060 which makes it a pretty sweet deal (at least for now)
(al menos por ahora)
In 2019 I paid $409 for a Sapphire pulse 5700xt. For that same price in 2021 I was hoping for an upgrade. I guess I will keep waiting.

@@rubenventer5495 RTX 3060 is also overpriced for what it is. RX 6600 XT is 15% faster and 15% more expensive. So it's actually a good value for mone, compared to the RTX 3060 of course. And these days it's very difficult to get a graphics card at MSRP. Semiconductor shortage and scalping have driven up prices significantly.
@@atisbasak Overpriced? The pricing is similar to a 3060Ti which is much better. The performance is not 15% across the board. Selective hearing it seems. Tell me you're an AMD fanboy without telling me you're an AMD fanboy. It's garbage mate. For 20 dollars more you get a much better card. The 3060 looks like an absolute great budget card compared to the 6600XT. The bandwidth wheels come off at 1440p and with DLSS the 3060 will look better and have more frames. Even with its 12GB Ram it will probably be even fine at 4K thanks to DLSS. In a world where the 6600XT didn't exist, sure the 3060 doesn't look all that great but in a world that the 6600XT does? The 3060 looks like a much better investment. AMD sponsored titles are nothing to go by as they are pretty garbage games in any case. This card is horrible. 5700XT performance? And you can arguably get a 5700XT for a lot cheaper?. The 5700XT was advertised as a 1440p gaming card and it still manages to do that even outperforming the 6600XT there?. Wtf. I struggle to understand the logic behind this. Rather refrain from commenting stuff that makes absolutely no sense from a buyers POV.
@@rubenventer5495 Compared to the 3060 Ti, the 6600 XT might be a worse value but the 6600 XT is better than 3060 as it has better performance and consumes less power. It also is a good value for the money relative to the 3060. On average, it performs around 15-20% better than the 3060. As for the 3060 Ti, it's a different story. RX 6600 XT has ray tracing and FSR upscaling that works quite well, especially for the first generation and it will gradually improve over time just like Nvidia's ray tracing and DLSS has. Going by MSRP, RX 6600 XT is more affordable than RX 5700 XT, performs better and consumes much less power. It also has advanced features like ray tracing and variable rate shading. It is marketed as a high frame rate 1080p gaming and can also get good frame rates at 1440p.
Wow, can't wait for the non XT version, that review will be hilarious. What a pile of excrement.
I really hope that card will be x16 lines, just to troll a little bit more from AMD you know
Depends on what GPU you are coming from. It it's the rx5700xt you are right. If you are coming from like a 400 or 500 series or even a 10 series then no.
This card almost makes the 3060 look like good value and that is a dumpster of a card
Aw I bought a 3060 :(
Dumpster fire of a card? It can go toe to toe with a 2070 super and has a much cheaper price. You have to keep in mind not everyone is rich and just drop $1000 on a gpu
@@pw1169 And I bet you have had nothing but great experiences, some people just want to be elitist.
@@nerdjournal compared to a 5700xt and a 3060 ti the 3060 is poor value.
@@nerdjournal nothing elitist about my comment. The "budget" cards are extremely poor value this gen.
10% less overall performance than 3060 TI in FHD but 36% cheaper at this moment in Brazil ... good deal ...
In the Aliexpress the price difference is about 45%

I think these GPU releases start to look like scams these days.
is it a great value if i get the 6600XT for 250$
Some sell for $230 here in Malaysia
I got myself a ref 6700xt for $320 and coming nxtweek
In my country, 6600 xt (R$4500,00) is 10% cheaper than 3060 (R$5000,00) and 25% cheaper than 3060 ti (R$6000,00). 9 October 2021 values.
