The photographer in me loves this camera (minus the single card slot), but for video, I will say: Holy hell I hate the codec in this. No all-i and a max of 30 or 60mbps just kills me. I don't have anything wrong with 1080 in general, but oof, it's some soft 1080.
@@HVRIS I trust you that you can make it look good, but objectively, it's a line-skipping codec, and you'll get moire and softer footage from that camera you won't on other 1080p cams. It's not saying that 1080 can't look good or anything to that effect, but rather that objectively, the 1080 on the 6dm2 is much weaker than on other cameras, even the 6dm1. It's a kinda infamous problem. Shame, because that camera is such a rockstar in so many ways. I love shooting photos with it; the size is preferable over the 5dm3 or 4 to me.
JustinDoesTriathlon yeah i totally hear what you are saying! And I do agree for some reason the 6D mark 1 was amazing for photos, the mark 2 didn’t feel like an upgrade in quality
@@HVRIS Honestly I really love the 6Ds. I think you and I are basically in agreement just looking at different things. :P I freaking love the 6D line, lol. That camera with dual card slots would be (nearly) perfect. I still prefer Canon's dual pixel AF over Panasonics and stuff. Oh well, the quest continues.
Loads of them on Ebay new and used under £1000. Im a Nikon shooter but I briefly used another photographers 6D MK 2 at an event I was videoing, I really liked it very comfortable and easy camera to use. Also I was impressed with the images he got from it.
I used a friend's for a quick shoot, and I thought it was a very solid camera. I work daily with a 5D Mk IV and use a Fuji medium format camera for my personal work, so it's not like I have no comparison. Good review!
The problem with the 6D Mark 2 isn't that its not a good camera. Heck any camera in the right photographer's hand can produce amazing work. The problem with this camera is it could have been the jack of all trade budget Full-Frame that the A7 Mark 3 has become but released way earlier. All it needed were some extra features that people were expecting to be standard in a camera of that price point. Lot of Canon users and myself included (still shooting on a 6D) were really hoping this would be the one that Canon finally gets right in a long time and listened to their customers wants/needs. Sure, not everyone needs all the features, but if Sony can do it, why can't Canon. The reason this camera got a lot of hate was because of the pent up frustration from loyal customers who have waited years for Canon to release a camera that got it right, rather than camera held back on features as to not hurt its other line of cameras.
I would suggest looking into the camera more. I did the same thing, owned a Mark I and bought the Mark II. I ended up selling the Mark II after a year of owning it because it was such a lack luster camera. If you wanna stay Canon, save and get an R or go with a used 5D Mark III. The 35mm 1.4 ii is a stellar lens.
I bought this camera for UA-cam and all my videos and talking head shots. It has been so reliable and I would recommend it to anyone. I bought a Fujifilm X-T3 but still refuse to sell my Canon for my home studio. The flippy screen is unbeatable. Just buy it 2nd hand, with the EOS R out it’s defo gonna be way below £1000 now
I love this camera and actually I only need 1080p because my small computer would not handle 4K well it is perfect for high quality looking videos but at the same time easy to handle for beginners who wanna make UA-cam videos! Highly recommend this camera 💗

jeff maan go for a Sony A7III, I’ve studied it for months and I’ll be honest. It’s the best overall full frame camera currently. (The eye auto focus doesn’t even have competition and it’s ultra light)
I bought a 6dii to move up from a crop sensor 70d for $900.00 It was a return- in new condition, under warranty. It was just too much camera for the original purchaser. Despite all the talk about dynamic range I find it to be a good camera as long as you know it's limitations and use it accordingly. Could it have been better? Yes, but ALL cameras could be better in one way or another. My favorite camera was the Nikon Ftn. Even it had drawbacks. Often, drawbacks are of a personal nature. Don't let those drawbacks be based on what others tell you. Become one with your camera, learn how to overcome shortcomings. Make good images.
Hello The EveryDay Dad . I have some questions . Should I buy 6d mark 2 or 90d ? I need a camera can performance in low light . The reason I don't like 6d mark ii is all focus points clumed in the middle . 90d is crop sensor but it has 8 digic . They are the same price . Please help.

Should I get this or EOS RP? I have 70D and want to upgrade to full frame. All my lenses are EF-S so I might have to buy new lenses anyway. Note: I don't shoot videos.
I completely ignored the initial spec sheet, pixel peeping reviews and bought one used for £1k here in the UK. Absolutely love it, I use it with the EF 24-70 f2.8 ii and the EF 70-200 f2.8 ii ( both bought used ) and I couldn't be happier. Got the whole system for £3k. Utter bargain.

Funny, I just stumbled onto one of these sitting next to a 5dmk4 and did a double take...A fairly current full frame Canon under $2k! I did not realize such a thing existed LOL. I was looking at the photography aspects, but this vid has good info!
This camera is just awesome! No 4K but who care ?! It's a full frame cam with Flip screen. But the eos rp is the same but lighter, cheaper and better than the 6Dmkii, but the battery is more powerful on the 6Dmkii
I just sell my M50 + speedbooster to get this one.. Do you recommend this swap? Dynamic Range ad image quality may be not as good as other Full Frame Cameras, but compared with the M50?
Awesome video! When I did my original review it was way overpriced. Now at this price point it’s a bit better. The main problem I have with it as a vlog camera comes to L series full frame glass. I find them too big and heavy and it makes the camera too front heavy. If you look at Casey Neistat and his gear usage, he switched to the 6d Mkii for a while and now he’s back on the 80D again for the size! It’s a happy medium with that small lightweight 10-18mm on there. Great review! Love you!
Yeah I use a 16-35mm with it and it is quite huge. I’m very selective about when I want to vlog with it. But for my UA-cam studio at home videos, it slays! Literally turn on and record and you can see yourself and adjust any tweaks within seconds
I've had mine for a year and I'm saving up for the next Canon or the R. Really hoping Canon can finally pull through with something more useable. I came from using the 5d3 for 5 years and this camera is better than that for video just because of dpaf but the image is still way too soft because of no all-i compression. Dynamic range isnt there either, photos look way better on the 5d3. Why cant we just have 4k and 1080 120p in a good codec, flip screen, that's all I'm asking. It's not a tall ask, common canon 😑

It is a nice camera with most of the great Canon features. I'm sure it's a fantastic photography camera and the 1080p video is Cannon great, I think people are just bitching because it's over $1,000 and doesn't have 4K at least in this day and age.
I know you don't cover it, but it being full frame makes more of a difference on the photography side in my opinion. Hence the 6dii being that much more than the m50.
Hi! You know if I connect my 6DII to an external monitor, I can see my image in both screens? The external and the 6D II for tracking or I still use the touch focus at the same time?
@@dearlittlefoxxx Pretty much, some tad minor differences but same body and buttons. :) I have had the 80D for 3 years, but wanted FF so I picked up the 6Dmkii.
6d M2 is cheap for FF body (don't count sony because first ff sony's was bad), i paid more for 5d mark II when price was the lowest. Video from canon's was allways a bit soft -_-. good you have 24-105 L :) . look for something smaller like Olympus m43 or panasonic gx (not G) :P this is hard to find cam with good quality photo and video :P
I had this as a backup to the 5DM4. I sold it when I bought the EOS-R. I miss the 6DM2 but the EOS-R has the 1/8000 shutter and 4K. But I agree on everything else. Some days I do wish I still had the 6DM2 for a casual everyday shooter as it uses my L glass without an adapter. You are killing it brother with your content. Great job.
@@HVRIS The EOS-R is lighter and does have the ALL-I codec. So in my personal opinion it is better. As far as 4K you do have the adapter and can use the EF-S 10-18 that alleviates the crop down to about 17 on the wide angle so it excels in this matter. Hope this helps.
6dII isn't a bad camera the DR isn't great though for stills or video. EOS RP looks very interesting "if" they can not cut it down too much and do a decent job on video. There is a market for more affordable cameras and FF ones, seems Canon knows this.
The 6Dii has been bashed heavily on reviews as it should be canon's version of the Sony A7iii The original brief of the 6D was a cheap small FF dslr which the 6Dii is not. The 6Dii is at least 2 years behind the competition in price as spec's and there very limited future proof. If canon drop the price then is it a completely different story !
Yeah I think if they lower the price on this camera it would be a much better proposition. I can’t imagine buying it for its original asking price (specifically for video I don’t know about photography)
6d ii video is better than my m50 but not very much. If i was more into photo, 6d ii is great choice but i am more towards video so m50 with 4k manual focus gave extra value for me.
Honestly this camera is the camera that made me leave Canon. I was super disappointed in the camera. For any kind of professional use, its a disappointment. Which is a bummer considering the 6D mark I was a great prosumer camera. I wouldn't even consider this a prosumer camera, more of a hobbyist camera, and a that point there are much better options at its price point. I shot the 6d mark I for 5 years and I shot a 6d mark II for a year. The 6d mark II is the camera that made me realize Canon had stopped innovating.
I think Sony‘s autofocus is just as good and their cameras have much better image quality. But if you really want this mediocre sensor you should really wait for the EOS RP to at least get a mirrorless system.
Yess at last somebody who understands , i already had canon ef glass so m50 was not am option for me , also because i shoot stills to ... You forgot the most awesone feature if the camera bro ....🤣 It has 4K timelapse build in and i can assure you the best time lapse around ! Grrzz johny geerts
With the EOS RP being announced this week don't buy this camera. The RP will be replacing this camera with a fraction of the weight and the addition of 4K at 30p. It will also be around the same price making the 6D mark II a bad purchase in comparison.
Agreed . If Canon doesn’t totally cripple the 4K with a huge crop and soft video sharpness - they would sell so many of the RP it would be shocking. I am hopeful but not optimistic.
My LUMIX G9 says hello. Easy to use, pictures and video are amazing, and the autofocus is impressive. My wife and I used it for a vlog session outside and it was frankly awesome in terms of 4K video quality, fantastic flip out screen, the best stabilization of ANY prosumer camera, and the focus worked literally perfectly in hours of footage. It’s running the 1.2 firmware, and wow - just wow. What a wonderful system.
@@froznfire9531 Off course, im just saying that nowadays, company use ''4K'' everywhere ... even tho it looks like fucking garbage. The 1080p in the M50 (which is a cheap camera) is much better than any action camera too :P
No, the footage is so soft, especially when coming from sony's 4k which is just super crisp. I'm pretty sure even Action Cam footage and phone footage can be closely matched or even exceed.
The problem with the 6D Mark II isn't only the video specs, but I think that a 2000€ camera (I live in Europe, and at the release that was the price, nowadays it's about 1700€) without 4K isn't so good, specially if you're a professional videographer and you use Canon. But as a photographer, the other problem is the sensor. This sensor has worse dynamic range than the original 6D, and it was release almost 4 years later. I use this camera a lot (I have a friend who owns the 6D MKII) and shadows nice in edition are terrible. I think it's a not good purchase at all for this price. Yes, it's cheap, but I prefer some APS-C like Sony or Fuji.
Lawer I use it all the time for my UA-cam videos and the ease of use is what keeps me from selling it. I did find that the original 6D was better for photos which was sad. I just got a Fujifilm X-T3 for outdoor work
Lawer yeah I did use it for weddings and it doable but now I’ve tasted the Fuji system, the 6D will just be a back up camera for timelapses n stuff haha
Ok then it’s not for you, I agree that it’s an expensive camera that I personally wouldn’t buy because I use 4K for everything. But for someone needing the absolute easiest/quickest camera to use, this is the best I’ve seen so far.
It’s far better than “decent”. Guarantee nobody could tell the difference between images shot on this or a camera twice or three times the price. The camera can provide great images, great video and is so easy and intuitive to use. The handling is top notch as is the autofocus.
I agree that it’s pricey but I disagree that it’s not worth the price. This is by far and away the easiest full frame camera to use and there is value in that.
@@TheEverydayDad Ease of use is more or less a personal preference. Image/video quality is the number one character for full frame camera. It is valid that not everyone need best image/video quality, then they can pursue cheaper APSC choice or Cell phone for way easier of use.
@Mr. E Dragojlovic I have the a6300 and had also tested the 6500 of my friend in S-LOG3 and were exactly the same and was far better than Canon. Sony's budget cameras DR very comparable and in some cases, better THAN EVEN FLAGSHIPS LIKE 1DX AND 5Ds. And the A73 AND A9 are not even in the same league.

It comes to something when a stills camera with bonus video functionality is being bigged up as a great video camera!
I know you don't cover it, but it being full frame makes more of a difference on the photography side in my opinion. Hence the 6dii being that much more than the m50.
Wait...I thought "FIGITABILITY' ? Was one of your main requirements of a camera?? Yep, i already own this Camera..love it!
Hi! You know if I connect my 6DII to an external monitor, I can see my image in both screens? The external and the 6D II for tracking or I still use the touch focus at the same time?
I love my canon 6D MarkIii
I have the 80D and the 6DmkII, and I love them both. Both suit my needs :)
isn't this the same camera but FF?
@@dearlittlefoxxx Pretty much, some tad minor differences but same body and buttons. :) I have had the 80D for 3 years, but wanted FF so I picked up the 6Dmkii.
6d M2 is cheap for FF body (don't count sony because first ff sony's was bad), i paid more for 5d mark II when price was the lowest. Video from canon's was allways a bit soft -_-. good you have 24-105 L :) . look for something smaller like Olympus m43 or panasonic gx (not G) :P this is hard to find cam with good quality photo and video :P
or if you have to less options for movie making instal Magic Lantern :P this like going from sony rx to red cam :P
Hey i like your camera reviews! While others mostly says the bad thing on this camera. Atleast you're being honest. Pls do eos RP real world review!
Great job.
For blogging how do you find the EOS R compared to the 6Dmkii?
@@HVRIS The EOS-R is lighter and does have the ALL-I codec. So in my personal opinion it is better. As far as 4K you do have the adapter and can use the EF-S 10-18 that alleviates the crop down to about 17 on the wide angle so it excels in this matter. Hope this helps.
Eric Ferro thank you buddy!
@@ejavenger wait..the adapter from EOS R can pair with the EF-S cheap lens?
@@fullandstarving Yes
6dII isn't a bad camera the DR isn't great though for stills or video. EOS RP looks very interesting "if" they can not cut it down too much and do a decent job on video. There is a market for more affordable cameras and FF ones, seems Canon knows this.
The 6Dii has been bashed heavily on reviews as it should be canon's version of the Sony A7iii
The original brief of the 6D was a cheap small FF dslr which the 6Dii is not.
The mark 1 is the far better camera, yes you lose some features but the MK2 as a photographer never found as good.
atleast this camera has 24p unlike a certain mirrorless camera
i'd get a xt3 instead, actually. or a d750 or a d500 or a d810
The 6d mark II is the camera that made me realize Canon had stopped innovating.
i'm watching this video in 240p.
You forgot the most awesone feature if the camera bro ....🤣
It has 4K timelapse build in and i can assure you the best time lapse around !
Looks like a noice camera.
I'm surprised at how much I actually ended up liking it.
A6400 or Canon 6D Mark 2
Cool a full frame M50 or EOS RP alternative.
Does this camera have timecode?
The 1080p of this camera look WAY better than any action '' 4K '' camera (or phone) though.
It is also way more expensive :) and other 4k cameras demolish it...
It is super easy to grade and the reliable autofocus is amazing. I’ve shot all my weddings with it
My LUMIX G9 says hello.
Did he say hi I’m already dead ?!😐
I just got a Fujifilm X-T3 for outdoor work
@@HVRIS Nice gear man! The 6D MK II it's a great camera for UA-cam videos, but only this. And the X-T3 is a beast!
Lawer yeah I did use it for weddings and it doable but now I’ve tasted the Fuji system, the 6D will just be a back up camera for timelapses n stuff haha
First, great video love the videos. Still looking for that drone videos?
Thanks so much! Yeah TEDW really wants to make it and she’ll go flying at some point 👍
@@TheEverydayDad ahhaha ok sounds good untill then keep the videos coming
I see what you did with the title😉👌
But the thing is, I’m not gonna spend $1500 on “decent” image quality
Ok then it’s not for you, I agree that it’s an expensive camera that I personally wouldn’t buy because I use 4K for everything. But for someone needing the absolute easiest/quickest camera to use, this is the best I’ve seen so far.
I agree! Not trying to dawg on the video though.
It’s far better than “decent”. Guarantee nobody could tell the difference between images shot on this or a camera twice or three times the price. The camera can provide great images, great video and is so easy and intuitive to use. The handling is top notch as is the autofocus.
@@paulchoate1, the same could be said about this vs say the m50
@@initialonyt yup. If you like the handling and features of the m50 then that’s great.
Great insight into this camera! 👍
Thanks so much!
Nice video bro I love watching your videos
Thanks so much!
FU Canon I'm so ready to jump ship already...
It is not that bad but it is not worth the Price. Period
I agree that it’s pricey but I disagree that it’s not worth the price. This is by far and away the easiest full frame camera to use and there is value in that.
@@TheEverydayDad Ease of use is more or less a personal preference. Image/video quality is the number one character for full frame camera. It is valid that not everyone need best image/video quality, then they can pursue cheaper APSC choice or Cell phone for way easier of use.
speed booster viltrox 😭
Please send one canon for me.. so i can in my video. My friend from youtube send me to review 😝
6d mark ii has horrible lowlight , even with low ISO, and dynamic range is bad :( one of the reasons why I sold mine and preordered a6400 😈😈
A6400 just wipes the floor with EOS R and this "easy-to-use" camera.
Ok.
Too bad dynamic range. Worse than Sony apsc.
Canon=👎no Dynamic range!
Debanga Shivam well, sort of. But I felt the same issue so I’m shifting to an A7rIII.
@ Debanga Shivam There's absolutely nothing wrong with the dynamic range on this camera. At all.
Maybe try one in the real world yourself.
