*FYI:* In the manga, while Deku was seeing the crowd going angry with their faces, danger sense was going off very erratically. Here they weren't physically attacking him, but their malicious energy was directed to him for it to respond. Again, there's some nuance to danger sense that it's not just about physical harm, but the energy of intent. The weakness to this quirk as to not be completely OP, but have it's own set back that Deku has to be cognizant to navigate, which I think makes things a bit more interesting in that way.

When the high schoolers have more self-awareness than the adults. My mentality towards this was basically, “Hey civilians, I get you’re all tense right now, but maybe don’t turn on the kid that’s done nothing but help you?”
Also, whoever built that barrier better have gotten a raise. It “puts any football field to shame!”

Again, these callbacks and parallels are so good. It's so rewarding seeing everything come back full circle. Like the obvious "You can become a hero" OST coming back, as Deku is on the floor crying, while someone is telling them they have worth, like on episode 2. Brilliant

  • @grinstrashcan
    @grinstrashcan Рік тому +8

The more obvious point with that Toga flashback was that Uraraka was talking about 'all of them smiling together in the future', and then she flashed back to Toga _crying,_ specifically. It's like the story is asking Uraraka here: 'But what about Toga? What about *her* smiling?'
I feel like this moment is closely tied to the whole theme with Toga wondering if heroes view villains as people, and, well, kinda already serves as an answer.
Also, 'restoration research' sounds a lot like they're trying to find a way to reverse nomufication. 🤔

    Some volume extra info:
It’s really cool to see that guy from episode 1 again, though sadly it’s been confirmed that he doesn’t actually remember Deku from that day (I mean, it paints him as a better person that way, standing up for someone he doesn’t know, but part of me still kinda wishes he did)
On a more negative note, the guy that was like “We’re here because you failed” and the guy next to him were the two that were like “Well yeah but he let that villain go” after Endeavour _literally saved the city from Hood._ So yeah, idiots stay idiots.
My only *tiny* little complaint is that in the scene where the whole screen goes red, in the manga, Danger Sense was going off like crazy. What we got more than made up for it imo, but the Danger Sense going off made it clear that the crowd wanted to fucking *hurt* Deku. Despite that, loved this episode, Ochako’s speech is one of my favourite moments of the series easily

  • @Kaempfdog
    @Kaempfdog Рік тому +13

This episode is among the most important ones in the show. XD I got so giddy getting ready for this episode. Because it’s so emotional, but it also goes much deeper than that.
I think today is the day I make an accusation 1st and foremost. Let’s talk about Principal Nezu. He was my prime suspect for being the UA traitor from the MOMENT the storyline appeared. He has the motive, the means, and the ability to be a further threat if ever found. Does this episode absolve him like I absolved Present Mic and Vlad King in the beginning of the season? …..Well, I’m trying to find a word that can sound fancy enough to fit the situation. In ZERO WAYS has this character been absolved. My suspicions of Nezu have only grown and not lessened. And I’m saying this because it’s NOT confirmed. So I wanted to lay out most of my suspicions NOW. Alright, so this is the smartest character in the show. Bar none. And it’s this reality that makes a number of his recent moves VERY suspicious.
    1. The UA barrier itself. Oh don’t mind me, I just personally paid for a place that looks like Tartarus and have complete faith it’s going to work…against AFO and AFS. Which by the way, the underground labyrinth route is so complex train cars or no that I’m wondering how the heck the evacuees are expected to use such an escape route. I said this place is more a prison less a sanctuary for a reason.
    2. The press conference. Remember when I asked whose bone headed was it to announce on live TV exactly which shelter the most targeted families are going to? Yeah it had to be freaking Nezu. In the SAME press conference as the one where Endeavor said how horrible he was to his family. The timing of which is so ungodly horrifying I can’t even BEGIN to justify it.
    3. Contributions to quirk morality in society. Which is in absolute perfect condition across this show with no notes. And…not what is often under MASSIVE problems.
    4. OFA. Literally EVERY person who knows the depths of OFA has made contributions. Recovery Girl, Gran Torino, Tsukauchi, Nighteye, but NOT Nezu. He hasn’t helped All-Might instruct Deku despite All-Might being an AWFUL teacher, he hasn’t spoken to Izuku ONCE. And as he explains to people Izuku is coming back, THIS is what we are greeted with.
If Nezu isn’t a villain in some sense of the word at this juncture, as the human hating rat that likes to get his vengeance…I’d be genuinely stunned. And I’d say Nezu is the most underutilized character in MHA. Just…needed to air that out. And I haven’t even gotten out half of my suspicions. Just the stuff in the anime this season and small amounts of last.
Ok. Enough of that. I want to talk about sweetheart Uraraka. I mentioned a few episodes ago how I view exhausted empathy. A pet name I give what is basically extreme empath depression. And how it can completely crush if not destroy an empath. And I said only people with complete trust of the empath can really shake them loose of the state. I said if you believed Bakugo was capable of saving Deku, you’d be EXTREMELY mistaken. There were only 2 I could suspect that could accomplish this. 1 was Iida, the other much better choice was Uraraka. Had Iida not made his moment about how he needs to live up to Ingenium and made more personal concerns for Izuku, I wouldn’t doubt he’d be able to help him. (But we’d also need to remember Iida once literally punched Izuku in the face and he STILL didn’t listen to him over his resolve.) It always had to be Uraraka. She is the ONLY person that has given Izuku faith up front with no test, no proving himself, and no long winded convincing arc. She treated him like a completely normal person OUTRIGHT, and NEVER wavered no matter how strong he got, no matter how bizarre his quirk got, no matter what he went through, she ALWAYS knew to treat him like a normal person. And upon finding out he has a 200 year quirk that is essentially the light god doomed to fight the 200 year equivalent dark god over and over? Didn’t matter. None of it mattered.
She’s seen it all. She saw Izuku nervous in front of the school? She encouraged him. He sacrifices himself to save her in their 1st test? I’m getting him in personally because he should’ve gotten points of his own. She encourages him through the cavalry battle, and roots for him to make it to the finals. Checks on him after the Stain battle personally to make sure he’s ok. And then we get into 2 of the biggest hints. The camp attack Deku spends the ENTIRE arc on adrenaline running around with busted arms. And only stops ONCE. Because Uraraka tells him to so she can make him splints. When he goes to save Bakugo from the league, he only wavers ONCE in his resolve to save him. When Kirishima tells him Uraraka didn’t want to take part in their rescue mission idea because she didn’t want to humiliate Bakugo who refuses help from everywhere. But it just keeps going further with her support in the Overhaul raid and she’s most concerned over Izuku’s thoughts on letting Eri go because she knows that’s the biggest strain in the room. And she STILL doesn’t waver after WATCHING his infinite 100%. Decides to calm him down by hugging him as Blackwhip goes haywire. And evolving her costume in case he needs backup like that again. It’s been in the background sure, and she takes her own path as a hero, but EVERY conclusion she makes gets her back to Izuku. Not because he decides, but it puts her new resolve into practice.
And now? She frees him even if briefly of the god conflict, she calms the crowd which is among his biggest emotional burdens yet, she brings every last bit of support from what he carries the most and has them help him. Freeing him of being the next All-Might. And allowing people to see him. Which people have failed time and time again throughout this story. EXCEPT her. All in one go. While living up to every resolve and dream she’s had, and no confession of love. Which while ABSOLUTELY inevitable, it wasn’t the time even though many stories would absolutely believe it to be the moment to do so.
Love that the 1st civilian in the story is the one that comes to the conclusion that we’ve had them on a stage. But their battlefield has always been right there in front of us. And it’s gotten too big for the stage. This isn’t a stage. They are breaking themselves to accomplish these “shows.” And the public has spit on them for not making this entertainment. But all they care about is saving all of us. And things can’t fit on stage. It’s why when All-Might battled AFO in their primes, he was smart enough to keep it off the stage.
What a fantastic emotional episode. Seeing Izuku cry normal again which thank GOODNESS. Empaths gotta cry like that. And he is free of his heart which was becoming a prison with his collapse. He isn’t safe, but he’s free. And that is a HUGE step forward. (And I don’t think Deku will ever be All-Might, but I still think the surpassing will occur. My OFA theory stands firm.)

Nezu isn’t a human. Human in this context would be mutants like Tsuyu, Koda, and Kouji. He is specifically a lab created monster of a rat, bear, and a dog merged together. We don’t know his age and when his experiment was in progress/done. It could very well be that he didn’t have anything to contribute to Toshinori’s golden days. He bears a grudge of that memory and humans in general, but his way of coping with it is just pranking his students because he’s smart enough to realize that being a criminal doesn’t help much. He doesn’t owe any humanity anything, he’s just trying to be rich and blend in.

    • @Kaempfdog
      @Kaempfdog Рік тому

@@manhwafanatic I never said he was human. I said he was human hating. And without full context we don’t know the depths of that hate. Which we don’t. And as I mentioned, I have very much so limited the scope of what I went over regarding my suspicions. He had a LOT going for him the moment the traitor story was 1st mentioned.
And I’m very careful about how much suspicion I’m letting out at this time. But if you want to know how much I think there is, I can say it with a spoiler tag

Deku's best girl got him to react like how he did to All Might telling him he could be hero. Only All Might and Uraraka made him react falling to his knees like that, with words to reach the depths of his soul.

Once again, we continue the Dark Hero/Deku Arc of the Final Act Saga, with a more in-depth rundown of what the U.A. Barrier is,
Then we’ll get back to where we left-off, which lead into a heartfelt speech from Uraraka, which in turn lead into a revelation that “this Story is about how Everyone Became the Greatest Heroes” as well as a lot of realizations with the help of a familiar face from Episode 1,
Which eventually lead into the issue being resolved with Deku finally officially back to his Hero Academia,
Which then lead into a quick update on how things are at the moment and then ends things-off with All Might being watched by a mysterious figure.
Next Time, it seems like we’ll get a long awaited encounter and maybe will End-off the Season with an interesting introduction, we’ll see how things will go.
I really hope that the Anime did this Speech justice, I guess we’ll see what the general opinion is.

About the part towards the end where you talk about why would they make the 3000 protective layers out of reinforced steel or some alloy when decay will just eat through them anyway.
    Well:
1 In case of emergency the layers detach from one another and can even move indipendently so you can't directly decay them all at once in like a single continuous action.
2 Steel and most of its alloys are relatively cheap asf in comparison with some super high specs alloys or like carbon fiber.
3 Steel has very good characteristics for a material that kind of cheap, quality/price is excellent, and it's mass produced basically everywhere.
4 The system is still fricking enormous, so it needs to have good structural integrity just to not collapse on itself.
And possibly resist to physical attacks, afterall even if at the time they couldn't possibly imagine just how strong Shigaraki would have gotten in time, they did know the league was capable of creating strong Nomus such as the USJ one, or Hood.
5 The part about decay possibly affecting different materials slightly differently, so that there are some materials that resist a little bit better, is probably true.
I'd doubt paper and reinforced concrete decay with the same efficiency, but decay may be so strong that the difference becomes small enough to go unnoticed tho
Anyway, the episode was really good, full of parallelisms, callbacks and character developement coming in clutch.
-The art and atmosphere were on point
    -animation was fluid
-voice acting.... man the voice acting, the Japanese really know their stuff and don't hold back one bit when it comes to that.
-The soundtrack, as always with Yuki Hayashi's pieces, was top notch and a key player in the feeling of the episode.
When "You can become a Hero" started playing while Midoriya was once again down on his knees and being told that he can indeed become the Hero he wants to be, just like in season 1.
    It really pulls at a fan's heartstrings.☺️
And shoutout to Starhead Man from episode 1 coming in with facts and logic.

MHA is so subtle with some of the things it does and you guys get all of them so well. People shit on the series cuz a lot of these things go way over their heads. Like you guys mentioned the tendencies/urges people get to use their quirks, like an addiction or a disorder. Also realizing that Ochaco saw how the hero made the people happy and the people in turn made the hero smile, so only the people can help heroes when they are suffering. You guys some high IQ stats lol. Wish people gave more thought to this series (especially anime-only's) cuz it's just considered to be a generic shounen series with nothing new to offer.

    What do you think?

Some people thought that You Say Run should have been used for the Shigaraki battle and even made the videos on UA-cam with that music switched out. How on earth would that fit with the scene? 🤣

They seriously need to do a spin off of MHA vigilantes before the franchise decides to officially end. Obviously the author may want to continue in the future or maybe take a long break and come back to produce some more MHA but it needs to be done. period.

I loved the discussion. One thing I could add is that unfortunately Horikoshi is very busy&lenient when it comes to the anime adaptations, so a lot of small details don’t quite match with the original book.
52:40 this is one. In the book, the tall mutant lady was actually “morbing out” and she was transforming, that’s her power. That’s why she was explaining to the vigilantes that she’s just scared and couldn’t control herself. If she was just standing there then they wouldn’t have to assume malicious intentions from her.

Ochako out here with the Paragon Interrupt lol
Really though this episode singlehandedly makes her one of the best characters in the series

You know what, it's nearing the end of the season, and with class A coming back together with deku I think it's to see how to make certain characters cooler.
Sato: I've already talked about his wrestler route before but we see in deku's retrieval that he's able to jump pretty high and far, and his quirk doesn't seem to affect him as much. So what if we boost up his dosage so that instantly becomes stupid but still conscious. He basically becomes the Hulk. A Sugar Overdose.
Shindo: honestly with him having a knife that he could turn into a Vibroblade with his quirk, there's not much for him to improve on to make him anymore cooler. Maybe integrate it to his costume to have sharp gauntlets to dig into things he vibrates.

Have I have noticed that you haven’t separated the Reaction and Discussion into separate Videos for quite awhile now, is the a reason for that?

The funny thing about the content this episode was that it was not terribly well liked when it initially came out.
A lot of major MHA youtubers considered this arc, and particularly this speech as "the thing that ruined the series".
I am not making this up.
I would link videos, but those videos might contain manga spoilers.

Ochako speech was very emotional in the manga and the anime version was as amazing adaptation (ochako va did a fantastic job)
    Anime remove:
The anime remove the detail of deku danger sense going off

WHAT is with the Sato underestimating? He's the least developed character, but we've already established he's got super strength: I don't think his physical power is in question here. The only character he's weak in the clash in terms of brute force is Deku...
Also... you're missing the point, brute forcing your way through normal people because you can is what the villians do. If you're reduced to that.... AFO's already won.

Personally I am disappointed because of the tribute he is supposed to be. He’s this world’s Rikitoshan, the biggest Japanese (-korean) wrestling figure of post ww2 era. Yet all the screen time he got throughout the whole series is like just a few minutes.

@@manhwafanatic You're not wrong, in a class of 20 kids alone, he's the one that got the least development. His only major character trait is he uses baking/cooking as a way of showing he's cares about people. Apart from that, he's like Shoji or Koda: he's the gentle giant in the class.
Weakness of character development aside, weakness in terms of utility as a hero he's NEVER been. He's one of the heavy's, and he's not flashy or exciting in his power, but like Kirishima he's definitely got a niche that he's valuable in.

He's just giving the *cilivian perspective* so can speak in that way as someone as a regular person watching the hero as a spectator for the metaphor. Though it was Uraraka that started the ripple effect in the first place in order for him to want go step up.
