Totally agree with your views Glenn 👍 I had a young lady who lives down the street from me and she asked me what type of camera she should buy. I asked her what type of photography did she have in mind and she said "Landscape Photography" like I do. I told her to not go out and buy the most expensive camera but what equipment she SHOULD spend her money on is quality lenses 👌🏻 Awesome topic and vlog once again mate 👍👍
Hey Shane Good advice you gave the young lady, another one saved. Photography education is more important than having the latest and greatest equipment. Cheers
100 percent correct Glenn 👌 Your experience speaks volumes. Every time some a camera hits the market I can't wait to count the number of UA-cam reviews 😅😅
You're right on the money Glenn. My last two cameras (as all mine are) were superseded models which I got at a great price new. Crikey, I bought an immaculate old '74 model Nikon F2 on Ebay for chickenfeed 10 years ago. I've bought over a dozen lenses which I can use on my mirrorless or the Nikon. All of this for bugger all. Lenses, they're always on my list. Great stuff. You've reinforced my belief that I'm on the right track. Cheers, Sean.
Hi Glenn I really enjoy your 'teaching' videos!! As a person who has practiced photography for 40 years you have hit the nail on the head!! I only wish that a video like this had been made when I first got into photography!! I cringe to think of the money I have 'wasted' buying the 'new improved' cameras. I am embarrassed to admit that with all my cameras and lenses that I currently have, I am using my Pixel 7Pro cell phone even more. Your suggestion of 'practice not purchase' is so true. If I could go back in time I should have considered more 'used' equipment over 'new' cameras!! I would have saved quite a bit of money if I had purchased 'used' equipment!! One thing any photographer should remember if purchasing used equipment is to stick with companies like KEH, Used Photo Pros, etc over E-Bay because it seems like whenever a video is made on older used equipment E-Bay prices start going up!! Another thing in my case is with all the equipment I have now I have had to make adjustments as my medical condition has forced me to change my style of photography. So a lot of the equipment I have now sit on a shelf and I find myself using my cell phone more. Had I followed your advice when I first got into photography I would have saved a lot of money over the years. Great video!! Best regards, Duane
Hi Duane Great to hear from you.I hope you health is going ok. Yes,people are falling for all the marketing hype unfortunately. As stated in this video, the camera companies rely on people not knowing . My main aim is to educate people that are into photography. Thank you for watching my UA-cam video’s. All the best to you my friend Take care
Great video. 100% agree with you. The three cameras I own are second hand, bought at a 1/3 of new price and with less than sc of 2000 (so pretty much new). I got them when the new latest and greatest came out and someone thought the new one is going to be better. On the other hand I have spent what I saved on new lenses. We definitely live in a throw away society in the need to have something better.
Thanks mate another great honest heart to heart talk about camera gear. I find it curious that with all the modern tech going into the latest camera the second hand market is booming in film cameras. It would be interesting to see a break down of age groups and what each age group is buying today. Keep going mate you have a message that needs to be heard
Thank you Haney It's the younger generation that are moving from phones to a new camera.Unfortunately they are being coned into believing that they need the latest and greatest camera on the market to be able to take good photos. UA-cam camera reviews and the people that do them are also responsible for this so called belief . Take care
Fomo! 😂 I love it! Never heard that before. You’re right, sometimes people are just scared of missing out on something. I think marketing has a way of pulling people into this way of thinking. Great message, buddy! Oh yeah, I’m going start using your line, “I taught it everything it knows.” 😂 Take care, Glenn!
Thank you for watching. I also own an original Canon 6d.Many people don’t know this ,but the Canon 6d is still a very good camera. Even by today’s standards. Take care

The camera companies are smart. They know who to target.
