EV's are not the future and the list of drawbacks ; 1) They are too expensive to buy. 2) Depreciate quicker than a sink draining. £30,000pa in the case of a Porsche Taycan 3) Spare parts are hard to get. 4) Spare parts are too expensive. 5) Insurance is high or difficult to get. 6) Tyres wear out faster cos of cars weight. 7) Road tax will go up because the weight of the car causes damage to road surfaces. 8) Services (inspections really) are a Rip off. £750 to look under the car & report the your tyres are wearing down. 9) Software takes control, out of owners hands. 10) Difficulties in cold weather, heating reduces range, batteries won't charge in the cold or if they do it can damage them. 11) New battery costs more than cars value. 12) Charging eats your time on longer journeys and they are not always on your route so extra distance is added to trips. 13) Charging costs are increasing road side. 14) Finding a charge point (or one that works) away from home is almost impossible. 15) When you do find a charger there will nearly always be a queue. 16) Charge points require an app & mobile phone, data connection, a signal etc., Also can't buy a charge with cash! 17) No resale value, cos batteries only last 3-4yrs. 18) Mechanics can't or won't work on them. 19) Domestic smart meters control what time of day you can charge up & what cost that will be. 20) The price of electricity is going to out strip the cost of other fuels per trip, especially during the day. 21) If there is more than one car in a family accessing the home charger has to be rationed 22) Having to buy a home charger in the first place. Domestic chargers break down, costly to repair or replace 23) They spontaneously burst into a ball flames that can't be extinguished until all the energy is dissipated 24) If you live in a block of flats you won't be able to charge at home unless you have a carpark with a charger, but will have to share. 25) If you live in a terraced house or a house without a drive, you can't always park close to your house, even if you could there's the problem of electric cables over public footpaths, etc, etc...

When we were being pushed into diesel cars we still had the option to buy petrol although there was a (temporary) incentive to buy diesel. Unfortunately the modern power mad politicians are always trying to control every aspect of our lives.

Interesting fact Lee. Only 30% of EV owners replace their EV with another EV! So most decide not to. Just goes to show Lee, at the moment that they have a choice! Me personally, I replaced my quite old 3 series diesel only with a 4 yr old 3 series diesel hybrid recently and it's much better. Range from full tank is now over 500 miles!

It starts at the top with the self proclaimed leaders, the WEF. Unfortunately we have two WEF men in the Commons, Starmer and Sunak. Both are flying the flag for the ridiculous net zero nonsense. They are pushing electric cars while drastically increasing running costs for petrol and diesel. Of course some will argue on this, as they sit there for another winter without the heating on because gas boilers are being outlawed just the same as combustion engines are. Hence we have the ‘scam’ gas costs. Electricity can’t go down because the infrastructure isn’t there. I live in a 2nd floor flat. Parking spaces are away from the building. It'll cost the management company thousands to install chargers which will massively increase my service charges. Electric ISNT the answer for everyone.
That's why folks need to take a step back and realise..... 'They' WON'T install anything because the overall 'Plan' is the more people that CAN'T access vehicle the better ... Electric or otherwise. They want you to be reliant only on a bicycle or public transport...... only those that have lots of money, ergo unlikely to be living in an apartment, will have access to personal transport

Amazed by the number of people who really thought you had bought the green car, although it would be useful when you drive across Australia. It would give you shelter when your battery runs out.
The best thing about that Taycan was the colour. That was quite a nice green. There should be more green cars in this world, and I mean colour, not environmental credentials.

I know it's a difficult subject, even more so than electric vehicles, but the reason these changes are being forced upon us. Science is never a lier, but in today's world its being presented in ways not always consistent with reality. Storms are not getting worse or more frequent. When you base the increase on dollar value losses comparing 1920 to 2023 there is a significant increase. Big surprise 😮 The idea that CO2 alone is creating warming is poor science at best. CO2 makes up .04% of the atmosphere. Up from .029%. Humans are responsible for approximately 2% of global emissions. The rest is natural. Green plant life begins to struggle at .03% CO2 levels. Thanks planet is greening. Higher levels of CO2 reduce the amount of water absorbed by green plants. Food crop produce higher yields. Patrick Moore, co-founder of Green Peace, has stated that the industrial revolution has actually saved the planet by restoring sustainable levels of CO2 into our atmosphere. I personally prefer ev's over ice cars, but Lee uses his car vastly different to alot of regular car owners, and maybe ev's are not practical for his use case. His videos are infomative and entertaining, and can help people to see the cons, especially if they use their car in the same way that Lee does. Alot of peoples reason for not buying an ev are mostly irrational really, public charging costs are too high, but if you have a driveway this is eradicated on the most part. Lee's choice of car highlights an extreme on costs of ownership and depreciation etc, but this is his choice at the end of the day.
Thankfully you live in the UK. Your views in the USA would likely trigger an IRS audit by the Byden Administration or harassment by one of our many other 3 letter agencies. I definitely respect your views.
I support Android as its all opensource and one can get involved in the development. It's based on Unix same as Apple osx. So why pay a higher price for apple when Android does the same with all the extra costs with osx. My Ipad redundant as i need to pay out heavily to up grade. Where my android just updates at no cost. So . Android it is.
It's only a matter of time before a viable alternative synthetic fuel is developed, that will run in existing ICE vehicles, with zero emissions and this will render ALL EVs obsolete overnight!😮😊
I love your optimism. The Germans tried to develop synthetic oil during the war. When OPEC quadrupled the price of oil overnight in a political move, governments worldwide again tried to find a replacement for Middle Eastern oil. It will never happen. Sorry
@neilgodwin6531 Several big names in the automotive industry are already producing synthetic fuel, they are committed to developing a cheaper and sustainable production method that can be scaled up, like I said it's only a matter of time! Think of the environmental impact of scrapping every ICE car on the planet and replacing it with an EV⚠️😲😳 There simply isn't enough lithium in the ground to produce the batteries needed for a start, nevermind the power capacity on the grid to charge them all up!
Watching your content actually did the opposite and got me interested in EV's. I went from thinking they were a ridiculous waste of time to now owning one. I picked up a used Jaguar I Pace and absolutely love it...🤷

Electrical car have their place… as a city car yes…. For the job I do 100 miles is adequate….but for longer distances no….to much time wasted recharging and our infrastructure is woefully inadequate…..I would love an ev that does 100 mile range, only if I could , a, afford one, b , could charge at home, unfortunately not able on both ….

I think aldi and lidl sort of think god he is again but I'm nice compared to some that go in there a few I've seen trying to fight staff verbally or with each other
Some people just aren’t grasping that the annoyance is with the infrastructure not the performance of a charged up EV , which in the main is better than an average petrol or diesel.
I agree, but also the significantly higher cost to buy and the much shorter possible lifespan seeing the battery is not as easily stretched to over 8 years. These showstoppers on top of the annoyance you mention. Some drivers use their cars in a way that makes EV a sensible choice, for others who do limited miles or retired, the whole idea is a financial dead duck unless happy to swap a nice car for a no frills A to B machine.

I recall OPEC quadrupling the price of oil overnight back in the 70's (I assume you are too young to remember that) and the government preparing for petrol rationing. Even now, Putin can block oil tankers or stop the flow of oil at a whim. He cannot stop wind turbines or solar panels. We are far, far more vulnerable to disruption in the supply of oil / petrol than to disruption of electricity supplies, and that will only become more pronounced as renewable energy technology advances. We are hostage to the Middle East for petrol. North Sea oil? We don't own it (thanks, Mrs.T), and I understand it's the "wrong type" of oil, too light
The problem that you have Lee is that there are WAY too many keyboard warriors who do not actually view all - or even MUCH - of the video before posting their massively uninfomed comments. These people are internet bottom feeders aka scum. Not worth bothering with. I do agree with your views on EVs for the most part. We do need to move to a more 'non carbon' transportation mode but I think we need to accept that it will take time. I've said this before on your channel, I'm a massive plug-in hybrid fan - if you can charge at home. Trundle around for 30 or 50 miles a day on electric but on the odd occasion that you need to do a serious trip then hey ho you can fill it at any petrol station. My Volvo XC60 T8 is averaging (combined) near 70 mpg. I run it around in EV mode for most of the short trips and run the petrol engine every week or so - or if I have a longer trip (e.g. airport pickup ). Not bad for a 455hp vehicle...
I think one of the problems you have with comments is, viewers only read the Title's, and of course you are very good at taking clickbait titles "to the nth degree"

what drivers don't understand is an EV needs to be serviced by the manufacturer and you have little choice to maintain the 8 year battery warranty. You can't take it to a local mechanic because some of the vehicles systems are connected to the high voltage battery so only the manufacturer can fix it. Buy an EV and suffer massive depreciation but also get ripped off servicing it at the main dealer (some ev's are cheaper than others to service and can be less than an ice car). One owner of a Renault Zoe couldn't get their heater fixed in Scotland.

So changing a 12v battery in my diesel takes 5 minutes in my driveway by me...evs apparently need to go into the dealer for a day and u require a loan car? Ev's take 10 times longer to do anything normal cars do..except depreciate run out of range catch fire etc 😂

It starts at the top with the self proclaimed leaders, the WEF. Unfortunately we have two WEF men in the Commons, Starmer and Sunak. Both are flying the flag for the ridiculous net zero nonsense. They are pushing electric cars while drastically increasing running costs for petrol and diesel. Of course some will argue on this, as they sit there for another winter without the heating on because gas boilers are being outlawed just the same as combustion engines are. Hence we have the ‘scam’ gas costs. Electricity can’t go down because the infrastructure isn’t there. We need to keep petrol and diesel, as you say, it’s about choice, not the control that is insidiously being forced onto us. Ok, rant over. Great video 😀
I live in a 2nd floor flat. Parking spaces are away from the building. It'll cost the management company thousands to install chargers which will massively increase my service charges. Electric ISNT the answer for everyone.
That's why folks need to take a step back and realise..... 'They' WON'T install anything because the overall 'Plan' is the more people that CAN'T access vehicle the better ... Electric or otherwise.
They want you to be reliant only on a bicycle or public transport...... only those that have lots of money, ergo unlikely to be living in an apartment, will have access to personal transport

I know it's a difficult subject, even more so than electric vehicles, but the reason these changes are being forced upon us. Science is never a lier, but in today's world its being presented in ways not always consistent with reality. Storms are not getting worse or more frequent. When you base the increase on dollar value losses comparing 1920 to 2023 there is a significant increase. Big surprise 😮 The idea that CO2 alone is creating warming is poor science at best. CO2 makes up .04% of the atmosphere. Up from .029%. Humans are responsible for approximately 2% of global emissions. The rest is natural. Green plant life begins to struggle at .03% CO2 levels. Thanks planet is greening. Higher levels of CO2 reduce the amount of water absorbed by green plants. Food crop produce higher yields. Patrick Moore, co-founder of Green Peace, has stated that the industrial revolution has actually saved the planet by restoring sustainable levels of CO2 into our atmosphere. Lee uses video titles to get more views and provoke reactions etc. Everyone knows or should do by now, i find it a little amusing myself ( here we go again 😂).
I personally prefer ev's over ice cars, but Lee uses his car vastly different to alot of regular car owners, and maybe ev's are not practical for his use case.
His videos are infomative and entertaining, and can help people to see the cons, especially if they use their car in the same way that Lee does.
Alot of peoples reason for not buying an ev are mostly irrational really, public charging costs are too high, but if you have a driveway this is eradicated on the most part.
Lee's choice of car highlights an extreme on costs of ownership and depreciation etc, but this is his choice at the end of the day.
Lee, you gotta drive it until the battery catches fire. Then get back to ICE.

I love your optimism. The Germans tried to develop synthetic oil during the war. When OPEC quadrupled the price of oil overnight in a political move, governments worldwide again tried to find a replacement for Middle Eastern oil.

For the job I do 100 miles is adequate….but for longer distances no….to much time wasted recharging and our infrastructure is woefully inadequate…..I would love an ev that does 100 mile range, only if I could , a, afford one, b , could charge at home, unfortunately not able on both ….

Some people just aren’t grasping that the annoyance is with the infrastructure not the performance of a charged up EV , which in the main is better than an average petrol or diesel.

I agree, but also the significantly higher cost to buy and the much shorter possible lifespan seeing the battery is not as easily stretched to over 8 years. These showstoppers on top of the annoyance you mention. Some drivers use their cars in a way that makes EV a sensible choice, for others who do limited miles or retired, the whole idea is a financial dead duck unless happy to swap a nice car for a no frills A to B machine.

I recall OPEC quadrupling the price of oil overnight back in the 70's (I assume you are too young to remember that) and the government preparing for petrol rationing.
Even now, Putin can block oil tankers or stop the flow of oil at a whim.
He cannot stop wind turbines or solar panels. We are far, far more vulnerable to disruption in the supply of oil / petrol than to disruption of electricity supplies, and that will only become more pronounced as renewable energy technology advances.
We are hostage to the Middle East for petrol. North Sea oil? We don't own it (thanks, Mrs.T), and I understand it's the "wrong type" of oil, too light

The problem that you have Lee is that there are WAY too many keyboard warriors who do not actually view all - or even MUCH - of the video before posting their massively uninfomed comments. These people are internet bottom feeders aka scum. Not worth bothering with. I do agree with your views on EVs for the most part. We do need to move to a more 'non carbon' transportation mode but I think we need to accept that it will take time. I've said this before on your channel, I'm a massive plug-in hybrid fan - if you can charge at home. Trundle around for 30 or 50 miles a day on electric but on the odd occasion that you need to do a serious trip then hey ho you can fill it at any petrol station. My Volvo XC60 T8 is averaging (combined) near 70 mpg. I run it around in EV mode for most of the short trips and run the petrol engine every week or so - or if I have a longer trip (e.g. airport pickup ). Not bad for a 455hp vehicle...
I think one of the problems you have with comments is, viewers only read the Title's, and of course you are very good at taking clickbait titles "to the nth degree"

what drivers don't understand is an EV needs to be serviced by the manufacturer and you have little choice to maintain the 8 year battery warranty. You can't take it to a local mechanic because some of the vehicles systems are connected to the high voltage battery so only the manufacturer can fix it. Buy an EV and suffer massive depreciation but also get ripped off servicing it at the main dealer (some ev's are cheaper than others to service and can be less than an ice car). One owner of a Renault Zoe couldn't get their heater fixed in Scotland.
The more popular you get Lee, the more negatives you will attract, sadly it's just a fact of the internet. You are a great broadcaster and video artist and love watching your vlogs. So changing a 12v battery in my diesel takes 5 minutes in my driveway by me...evs apparently need to go into the dealer for a day and u require a loan car? Ev's take 10 times longer to do anything normal cars do..except depreciate run out of range catch fire etc 😂
