We got another banger for Japanese festival or any festival around, they performed this at Houston starting The Babyklok Tour in the US as well in all the cities they've been around, hopefully they will do the same at Aftershock or Louder Than Life and get the crowd going nuts with this, unfortunately Blue Ridge Rock Festival was cancelled. It's their first song released with this new BM reborn and formation. The live debut was at Apocrypha - Another One exclusive show right before the track released, it was fun and totally unexpected, everyone was having a blast and even started with a Kami Band solo after a while without it, just remember none of the Kami Band are involved in the making of the song when recording with the rare exception for some tracks when one of them (Leda Cygnus) was involved during album prior to The Other One. Recently they hit 2M views so there's no doubt this song is becoming one of fans favorite super fast. The song title is Metali!! (metal + matsuri, which is a Japanese festival) and you can hear it in the spoken section when one of them (MomoMetal) is doing the Kabuki moves style. Just so you know "wasshoi" is another shout used in Japanese festival when men are carrying the shrine, similar to sore and soya you can hear in Megitsune and Karate. The traditional Japanese instrument you can hear in the beginning is a shamizen, also used in Megitsune. I can totally see why they pick Tom Morello on this, the groove, the catchiness, the super energetic jump and those typical 90's vibes at funk or alternative metal live concerts. And if you want to know the deep meaning of the lyrics please check Professor Hartley's channel (Andrew Hartley). This song is blasting audience at every venue in ongoing BM's North American tour with Dethklok. I witnessed this song live twice in August in Japan : World premiere (live debut) in a special show and Performance at huge festival "Summer Sonic Tokyo". At the actual venues, this song followed after an intro with Western Kamis' cool instrumental solos. Oh My Buddha! 😍 I got hyped like an idiot in the simplicity of this song. Momometal's extravagant elocution and moves in Kabuki style (and her growl in live show) gave an amazing accent in the exciting repetitiveness. The repetitive わっしょい "Wasshoi" is a call or yell used in Japanese Matsuri (festival). It is a kind of phrase to intensify people's excitement and especially to encourage the power of guys who are carrying a heavy "Mikoshi" on their shoulder that is a kind of a float in Western style festivals.
Studio versions could be anyone. They got Alysa White Gluz for the scremo on the studio of Distortion, and on tour, one of the Kamis is playing Tom Morello part I believe and momo doing the talking part 😁🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼

So it's a "matsuri" influenced song and it's full of chants and calls and responses to maximize the crowd interaction. The lyrics are all about hyping the audience inviting them to dance and sing along. It has several connections to another of their songs, "Megitsune" both in the lyrics and the music video (including the same director). Note that they clear here the tatami by kicking aside the traditional tea sets to dance properly. They do something similar in "Megitsune" when they get rid of the kimonos by pulling the "obi" (kimono's sash). It seems that they want to put aside the more restrictive and elitist traditions in favor of more popular and inclusive ones. Musically it's very groovy and funky and I love Su-metal's clean yet aggressive vocals here. Very cool collaboration with Tom Morello. Very happy for Momoko on her first song and music video as an official member. And also for that kabuki (traditional Japanese theater) style interlude. No kami band member has been credited (in general) on the studio recordings except for Leda Cygnus on a few songs. So backing growls and chants are mainly anonymous (collaborations aside: F. The live performances of this have been completely wild and the crowds are going nuts! 🤘🤪🤘 This is Momometal's first official music video since she was revealed as the official new member in April and she even got her own solo part with the spoken kabuki theatre section (you were wondering who was speaking that part, now you know). The song title translates as 'Metali' (or 'Metari') which is a fusion of the words metal and matsuri (festival). The song is about a Metal Village holding a metal festival, so they have included all the matsuri shouts everybody would be calling out as encouragement to the people carrying heavy floats etc like "Sore, Sore", "Dokoisho" and "Wasshoi!". They are inviting us all to dance - I am reliably informed there is something in the lyrics (Su sings it and it is in Momometal's kabuki section) about we are all idiots or fools - the idiots who watch and the idiots who dance ... so as we're all here and we're all idiots why just watch, we may as well all dance. Jake has provided Tom Morello's quote already - from that I think it is clear the song was already written, he added his own flare to it with his parts in the second half of the song. The Kami Band don't do the studio recordings, they only play live. Any growls, screams and additional vocals (most of which are anonymous) are played on backing track along with additional instruments (like the shamisen which is playing throughout this song) in live shows ... of course the crowd can sing the crowd chants as well if they want to.

Kami Band only plays live, and not involved with studio recordings for the most part. One of their members do have some writing credits for a few songs.
