The results from Eurovision 2016, converted into the old voting system where jury votes and tele-votes are combined. (Part 2 of 2)

@@DENIZ-js9sr it's funny because it's very subjective point of view. If you would like to be fair the new system is definitely better because it's more just. Nobody's votes goes for waste in case of big difference between juries and televoting

There is so many discussions about old - new system. Actually, "old" system presenting in this video worked just 3 years from 2013 till 2015. From 2009 to 2012 voting was combined not for all places (place jury+place televoting), but summing of scores from 0-12 jury and 0-12 televoting. (BTW, would be really interesting to know who would won with this 2009-2012 system) So, for example, Ukraine voting this year would be for this (2009-2012 years) system:

Belgium (10 + 0 = 10) got 6 points from Ukraine
Georgia (3 + 6 = 9, notice that its above Australia because it has highest score from televoting) got 5 points from Ukraine
Australia (5 + 4 = 9) got 4 points from Ukraine
Poland (0 + 8 = 8) got 3 points from Ukraine
Armenia (0 + 7 = 7) got 2 points from Ukraine
Israel (6 + 0 = 6) got 1 point from Ukraine

I think results of 2016 eurovision for 2009-2012 system should be approximately the same as 2016 voting system.

- Australia 1st
- Poland 19th and not top 10
- France 5th
- Sweden ouzt of top 5
Disadvantages :
- Malta 24th instead of 12th

I used Apple's Keynote to make everything and add animations, and iMovie to stitch all of the parts together - they're both free on Mac!

I actually find it interesting how in every single year, the voting of both systems produces the exact same winner... Except the very year the voting system was changed
I must ask how did you produce the whole thing, what program did you use to construct the scoreboard? Was it powerpoint? How did you get that effect the way when the points were added to the country the colour darkened near the edges and so did the colour. I would love to know how you made such an amazing piece of work!

How did you calculate the votes into the old system? I mean there has to be a difference between calculating votes into the old and into the new system. I'm just wondering because I think there are some nice changes in the old system.
Positives: Lithuania, Latvia, Serbia, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain & Cyprus came higher, Germany isn't on the last place and the (in my opinion) better song won.
(Negatives: Czech Republic on the last place, Georgia came higher, no changes in too high position of Armenia & Russia)

In old system Poland is in 19th place. Poland was the best in this year.

sorry for the late response, nice movie, but you make small mistakes in the points of Austria France has not 12 but 7 points, Sweden, Australia and Russia scored better.
When the Points of Belarus have favored Lithuania and Sweden (both +2) at the expense of Armenia and Azerbaijan (both -2) and are also swapped Bulgaria and Poland.

David J How did Malta got that many points with the New system?
That's because Malta did very well at the jury and was very bad at the televoting, 137 points came from the jury.For example, Hungary gave Malta 10 jury points, but Hungary's televoting dropped Malta in 20th place. In the old system, place 2 + place 20 = 22 points, with Malta standing in 11th place and thus having 0 points Received.
The new system is especially beneficial for countries that are particularly well-trained in professional jury like, for example, Malta last year and countries that are particularly successful in televoting such as Poland last year.
Therefore, I have a preference for the old system for the right balance

Chezh Republic Didn't got only 1 point. From Croatia it should have 5 points, cause they give them 10 points by jury and 0 by televoting. Croatia points (first Televoting, Second Jury, third all resultates)

How did you combine the jury and televoting rankings? Did you use the method they used circa 2013-2015 (all 26 songs bar finalists' own songs)? Did you combine jury and televoting ranks for all 42 countries? Bear in mind that, if the EBU had used the 2015 method again in 2016, in the case of San Marino, the EBU would have just used the jury votes alone, and not calculated a substitute televoting result.
How did you actually do the results, number and placing wise. I did it, and I got different results, but I think I did it wrong, because wen Ukraine were topping it, I thought... No, this is wrong isn't it, if it was the old method, they lost.
Did you calculate this yourself? By pure chance, so did I...

To anyone who believes this is legitimate, it's not. Divide the real results in half and that's roughly the score that country would have gotten in the old system. The winner is still Ukraine (remember how Petra Mede kept saying that the only change was how the votes were presented- yeah, obviously some people didn't listen)

Yes they should. Juries have been involved in Eurovision since its inception and the quality of the songs took a nosedive in the early 2000s after the televote was introduced, and it's gone up tremendously since 2009 when the juries were brought back.
Agree with Haz. The juries are the only way to minimalize the diaspora and neighbour voting. Both the quality of the songs and the results have changed diametrically since the juries were invited again.
Don't fancy the new system though, it's not halting the diaspora sufficiently.
Absolutely, I agree with Phillip. The bloc voting was best weeded out in this 2013-2015 system.

Это средний балл по местам. Зрители России дали Украине 2 место, а жюри 23. Получилось 13 место в итоге. Не топ 10, ни одного балла.

You're wrong, in the old system and the new winner had not changed, would win Ukraine with 267 points, second is Australia with 256 points and third is Russia with 246 points.
