I think that and Croatia 2021 not qualifying even though it placed 10th & 9th in the jury and televote respectfully was what made the EBU make the switch back to the 2009 televote-only qualifying system for 2023. Oh, and maybe 6 countries' juries being disqualified for swapping votes.

With a few exceptions, this would have been much worse than the real results, and we would have missed many beautiful and deserving entries in the grand final. Inevitably, it makes me sad to think that this is the system that it's gonna be applied from next year onwards.

Focusing more on the stage show than the song quality in the mid 00s was what made juries return in the first place. A good Eurovision final needs a variety of genres, not just oversexed bangers and joke songs
This shows it's always about balance . Sometimes juries save some good entries like Mall, Milim, Wrong place , Midnight Gold and other times the take away some interesting entries like Ingranka, Blackbird. There is always loss and gain. No system is perfect

Well, watching this video makes what I had suspected even clearer. Both the televoters AND the juries can give horribly CRAZY results if left alone. So, yes, their combo brings some kind of balance. I suspect though that IF I had to leave one of them out, it would be the televoters. They are horrible a bit more often. I definitely think that leaving the juries out is an awful decision that will leave us fully exposed to an audience that is too often seduced by absolute trash. I think the only true solution to get fair results that "make sense" is not to leave anyone out. Just improve the quality of the juries, as improving the quality of the televoters would be (I guess) far more challenging. By improving their quality I mean, bring juries that are actually doing their job standing for good music. We need them to forget about nationalities, bribery and voting alies, embrace musical diversity, leave their obsession with generic soulless pop aside and allow themselves to be surprised and explore the new ways of being good music that some entries offer every now and then crashing into the short-sighted juries' wall. I have that feeling that most of the voters usually know if the song they support is trashy and won't get really annoyed if the juries boost an obviously better quality (music wise) song instead. Deep inside they'll know it was fair. What's really infuriating is when the juries are overlooking masterpieces like Serbia 2022, Montenegro 2013, Italy 2018. At these points they just leave you ( or me at least :p ) wondering: Is that your idea of standing for quality? Seriously? So, BRING BACK THE JURIES! Just make them more open-minded. Thank you :)
Seems like, over the years, the changes juries would make become less and less significant. With some exceptions, I wouldn't mind the tele results post 2014
We have to admit that some of the ones that would have made it because of the public gave a poor performance. At first I thought it was a good idea, but thanks to this video now I think otherwise...
Absolutely. Also, some joke acts would have made it... But many people don't like to be objective and admit things. They just prefer to blindly accept everything the televote does, even if that weakens the quality of the contest

mark my words Greece will flop in semils!
Why? Greece does well with the televote when sending good songs.
@@mpofc The televote put 2018 in and that was an awful stage performance
@@DANEZESC I do think that they could have made a better stage performance that year. They should have hired Fokas Evangelinos.
Still bitter Poland didn't make the finals in 2019 and this confirming their robbery says a lot
POLAND 🇵🇱
My preferences
2010
SF 1: None
SF 2: Israel & Sweden
2011
SF 1: Idk, that SF was just awful
SF 2: Rockefeller Street (thanks juries. For once!)
2012
SF 1: I like both Hungary and Switzerland
SF 2: Malta & Bulgaria I guess (Ukraine should have NQd. How TF Portugal and Slovenia were completely ignored by both groups I'll never understand though)
2013
SF 1: Moldova
SF 2: Switzerland (Armenia is awful)
2014
SF 1: Azerbaijan (controversial opinion)
SF 2: Ireland
2015
SF 1: Hungary, duh
SF 2: none
2016
SF 1: Czech Republic
SF 2: none (WTH were juries thinking with Georgia?)
2017
SF 1: Finland
SF 2: SWITZERLAND!!! (my winner of 2017, so I'll be forever mad here)
2018
SF 1: Greece
SF 2: Poland
2019
SF 1: Belarus
SF 2: Denmark
2021
SF 1: CROATIA (though juries can't be exactly blamed here, it was also among their qualifiers)
SF 2: Albania
2022
SF 1: Albania
SF 2: Cyprus
Especially in later years, I prefered the televoting. Two of my winners qualifying with televoting makes this change hurt slightly, since it comes too late for them.
I find it ironic that you used that Belarusian protest over a nationalistic, pro-Lukashenko, propaganda song.
Also cultural appropriation for Netherlands 2012
And Estonia 2017 was a vocal wreck anyway
FREE 🇮🇱 2010 SHAK MIRAK MILIM 😢❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Terrible video, you explained nothing. Misleading title.
