    You almost got me at first. The Catholic ban on contraception took me a while to understand but now that I do no turning back. I’m a non Catholic but for matters like this I default to whatever the Catholics say since they have thousands of years of development to pull from.

      I suspect the real reason why contraception is rejected is because artificial contraception leads to the early termination of innocent life. ❤

    In his 1989 essay, “The Body’s Grace”, Dr Rowan Williams; Anglican Archbishop of Canterbury argued that the Church’s acceptance of contraception meant that it acknowledged the validity of non-procreative sex. He stated “This could be taken as a green light for gay sex.”

    • @claybody
      @claybody 19 днів тому

      It is quite interesting that he would say that. The Church of England was the first Protestant denomination to accept artificial contraception in 1930. To me, that is what started morality in a downward spiral in Christendom. Casti Connubii is a papal encyclical written by Pope Pius XI in December of1930 in response to this. You can almost classify it as prophetic.
      Edit: He stated this at the end of the video.

      @MikeM-cz5ln No, it does not. It means a couple can plan their families more accurately. Rowan Williams was a very intelligent man. He gave consideration where a couple. can enjoy the loving benefits of sex without a woman to constant, possibly life-threatening childbearing. Rowan Williams did not support homosexuality and people interpret things in whatever way suits their agendas.

    • @MarieCassidy-zd8sc
      @MarieCassidy-zd8sc 11 днів тому

      @claybody there was a lot of homosexuality going on in these seminaries with priests committing homosexuality acts and paedophile and chikd abuse. What about those practices, and nothing was done for ages until they had to. There were plenty of sinful acts committed against the innocent in the dark.

    Why use artificial garbage that messes up a body's natural cycle and increases heath risks? Or rubber that feels ick.
    If a woman takes the time to learn and track her body's signals and signs, indicating where in her monthly cycle she is, it's easy to plan or avoid pregnancy.
    The problem is that nobody wants to take the time to learn and track consistently.
    Side note: I'm glad I stuck around past the intro.

    Fr. Gordon Knight said in his book “Rational Theology: Marriage”:
    "One of the worst features about the use of contraceptive means of birth is that the one who is willing to use such means may be requiring his partner to cooperate in an act which is wrong. He may be leaving his partner only a choice between offending God or offending him. He may be leaving his partner no possibility of a happy marriage, for no one can be happily married who lives in fear of what he deserves from God or who lives in fear of estranging her partner by refusing to do as he requests. Marriage dose not make improper intercourse permissible, for nothing can make what is improper, proper. And improper intercourse is fatal to a happy marriage."

    I don't think people should go to hell for using contraception, and I would say the same for murder, blasphemy, and all other sins. It bothers me that people are uniquely bothered by the teaching on contraception, as it implies they're ok with hell in principle. I'm against hell en toto.

    Yes, the Catholic Church teaches that impure thoughts are mortal sins. We don’t have to do anything physical, all we need to do is to think an impure thought and that is already a mortal sin. No Catholic priest will ever preach this. No Catholic priest believes this.

      I think it makes sense that some impure thoughts (voluntary, lengthy ones) would constitute mortal sin. Furthermore, it is Biblical, because Christ said that "everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart."
