Very underrated band. Would have loved to have seen them live.
I’ve seen them a few times. They put on a great show
I saw them at Ontario place in 91 and they were fantastic.
I saw them at Canada's Wonderland in Maple Ontario. If I remember correctly they were BETTER than the headlining band that night!
BTW: I looked up the date!! HAYWIRE played the Kingswood Theatre at Canada's Wonderland on July 4th, 1992. Kim Mitchell was the headliner. He was good, but Haywire was FANTASTIC! Great Canadian band from PEI! 🇨🇦
Great band! I’ve been listening to these guys since the 80s
These boys are immortalized by their great songs and videos.
Never understood why theses guys never made it big!
In the 80s, there were a LOT of talents Canadian bands who never made it big, but deserved to. Luckily they at least got support from the CRTC and there was good airplay for Canadian artists, unlike now.
Actually Haywire almost had Doc McGhee as a manager back then. Haywire certainly were respected as they're obviously great musicians. Based on their excellent songwriting and performance skills I believe they should have exploded in the States if given enough exposure.
They signed with Attic records. They were a shitty outfit.Helix were offered to sign with them but they refused because they knew that Attic was a loser record label.By a shitty outfit,I meant the record label not the band.
The label not the band.
The label not the band.
This has become not only my favorite Haywire song but one of my favorite songs of all time!
I am so proud of my fellow Canadians, Haywire! Absolutely love these guys!
I would say this is there best song , nice tempo change and best guitar solo they ever did
I followed this band since grade school and seen them live twice greatest memories in my heart , so much love for this band nothing but love for Haywire xoxoxo
I saw them in Montreal in 1987. An underestimated CANADIAN BAND. ❤
Great song, mega catchy! I guess we all have a little fire left for the love that slipped away ...
Yes exactly RIGHT! That's such a great relatable lyric:
" I'm on Fire, FIRE! For the love that slipped away... ". 🔥
Awesome tune One of My favorites 👍😎
Don't just stand there Is an indie Canadian Aor masterpiece and this is one of its many highlights and why is this talented band so underrated
Back in the 80's I worked in the military in Halifax Nova Scotia and I briefly worked with Officer Kilbride, Haywire drummer Sean Kilbride's father. I was a huge fan of Haywire (still am!) and I remember talking with him about the band and how incredibly proud he was of his son Sean. This is a great song that never seems to get old. Great memories!
An absolutely awesome AOR album this -
Guitar snob convo today and marvin birt came up. He truly has a signature sound , not only with gear but with technic . He has a killer gear ear and is truly a world class monster on guitar . Love the evh gear influences , and just amazing playing and writing .
Agreed, he and Derry Grehan (Honeymoon Suite) are monster players of that era that no one knows about...tasteful and tasty players! 👍👍
I agree that Marvin Birt was a Monster on guitar of the EVH school of players. He really had a great command of his sound and techniques! 🎸
These guys are awesome!! Proud Canadian moment lol
These guys need to come back,Now! Another great Canadian band, and not because i am canadian hehehe just saying
Incredible talent from small place. WOW!
First band I ever saw. I was 12 years old and fell in love with live music ever since !! Awesome band !!!
holy crap , I cannot stop listening to these guys
absolute fantastic song from a fantastic band!! I will never understand why they weren't more successful :(
I often pondered the same thing. Drummer was from here in Halifax, rest of the band from PEI. They were the whole damn package. Should have been mega. I can only assume poor management was the culprit. If they had been from the states they would have gone world wide. Shame.
wayne moores Heeeey.... Sean was from Dartmouth! I can say that with certainty, since I’d spent so much time at their house hanging out with his youngest brother Patrick( he went on to open the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame, playing with Ian Hunter). A very smart and quick-witted family; you had to keep on your toes or they’d dismantle you, verbally.
I'm from the states and I wasn't born until 1983 so I just found out about this band 5 years ago. I wondered why they weren't more successful too. The wikipedia article sheds some light on that question. "Despite their success in Canada, and interest Stateside from Doc McGee (Management for Bon Jovi, Mötley Crüe and Skid Row), Q-Prime, and Chrysalis Records, they were unable to secure a US recording contract due to unrealistic demands from their record company." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haywire_(band)
I bought this album on vinyl after I heard it for the first time on youtube 5 years ago and it sounds amazing!!!
I believe if they secured a usa record contract would they be more pop sounding because they are not a hard rock band
this guys dancing was very unique, gotta love canadians
Such an underrated guitar player. Lets see ppl post solos who come close
Melvin birt.
Marvin Birt was a great player!
One of my favourite songs of all time
My first concert way back in the day at a hockey arena. I was probably only 12/13 in the second row from the stage. I remember fan girling so hard over Paul and the way he danced. Long time crush was on David though. #FellowMaritimer (Saw them again in 2011)
this is a good example of a perfect first album no need to skip a tune i play it often....
One of my favorite bands of all time!
one of my favorite songs of Haywire I ws a teen listening to this 25 yrs ago
Awesome tune. Should be re-released.
Same over here ... haven't heard this song for like 25 years ! and I remember every word like it was from yesterday ... makes you realize how bad todays Rock music is.
Not all today's Rock is bad. Shinedown was fantastic in concert. Finnish band Poets of the Fall need to be checked out. Admittedly, Seeing Foreigner next door to me on their 40th anniversary tour with Honeymoon Suite opening was fantastic and so was Glass Tiger with Chilliwack.
Still mystafied why these guys didn't go mega back then along with Loverboy and other Canadian bands.
So many great memories, Love it!!
wish they would come back and make music again incredible talent love you guys !!!!!!
They recorded many great song videos in 2017. On UA-cam. Still sound amazing!
80's Canadian rock. I love it. Such a great band hailing from PEI. Feel really good about getting 3 of their albums recently. And this is a great song. 80's forever. My new favorite band.
epic!!
Anybody still listening in 2019?
They never get old! They don't make music like this anymore.
it's fun to drum to
This is what Canada is all about good memories
2020.... why were these guys not big in the states??
@@88vandal1 Many good Canadian bands just didn't get the air play in the USA for whatever reason. Haywire won a band contest in Japan so they were known in other countries.
Saw them live in 2019! Still sounded awesome for their age.
Such an incredibly amazing band
This music feeds my hunger for the pure sound of rock. I have an appetite for music that reaches every corner of my imagination and leaves me with a clear picture of what the song was trying to convey to me. I feel completely sated and full.
brilliant f9cking song....one of the best of that era..by ANYONE..period...
Great song, holds up today as well.
MakeYouFeelBetterNow
Your the best
Extremely Well. AND... It's BETTER than a lot of the crap that came out later.
Haywire rocks!!!
They've got new material....played two of the new songs at a NY Eve gig in Charlottetown few years back. They've just never gotten around to releasing it. I've heard the two new songs and they are classic Haywire. Very melodic, just like the first two albums. Don't get me wrong, loved Nuthouse, just found that they went a bit too far with stretching their legs, and Get Off, the last album they put out. If they ever get around to releasing the new material they have, fans will love it. If they had a record company behind them like in the 80s and early 90s, it would take 2-3 weeks to complete but these days they've all got jobs and families, not to mention no record label to distribute/market it and the music industry ain't what it was like in the 1980s.
They were always best when they were new wave, with those synthesizers and that pop sound. When they went more hard rock and lost the piano, that's when it went down, for me anyway. Bad Boys and Don't Just Stand There are still two of my favorite albums.
@@MakeYouFeelBetterNow I like their hard rock stuff better personally.
@@MakeYouFeelBetterNow of course you have the right to your opinion but I totally disagree. I worked in the Music biz for about 20 years starting in 86. In Haywire's case they had a fantastic lead guitarist in Marvin Birt and they sold lots of albums on the basis of songs like Fire that showcased their harder Rock sound
@@MrBeenastarAgree, but I felt they went too far with Get Off and Nuthouse, this is what I'm trying to say. They were trying to be "alternative". I also felt their style switch was too jarring for fans, they went from almost WHAM / syth pop, to rock, and then went harder. It wasn't good.
i remember this song on muchmusic. Apparently the boys did this video and delivered it to Toronto themselves. Story goes the record company didn't want to put this song out as a single....lol
Really??? Sounds like it would have been a hit single. And it sounds very radio friendly too.
TOTALLY KICK FUCKIN ASS BAND. LOVE EM.
@jimjr155 that's strange...my sister was a big fan from their first album, bad boys and up...she even interviewed the lead singer, in a rare occasion that my old high school had a known band play in the gym...their second album was called don't just stand there, and fire is listed on it...
New vibes in my music today . That’s what I love about music... finding new music and bands... artistic talent at its best....,
Perfect frontman!
beautiful boys!
The best!
Man I'm still in love with these guys, still singing along word for word, please come to Toronto whaaaaaaa.

nkjjkkkkkjkkkkkkjkkkkkjjjjkkkkkkjkjkkkkkkkkkkkkķkkkkjjjķkkkkkkkķkjķkkkjķkkjķu
still amazing
This is good shit if you ask me.
My God I miss the 80's.......
You, me and a million other people!
Lovin haywire !!!
The piano guy sings with my mom at church!
I love this song
Craziness. Takes me back to grade 11 like it was yesterday. Wow.
I saw them live back in 1988...Haywire opened for Honeymoon Suite's Racing After Midnight Tour...IMO Haywire was just as good as Honeymoon Suite.
I saw them in Edmonton on that tour. IMO Haywire was better!
@hollyraeraeful someone told me this song is from their first album, but it's not...i suppose the word "strange" isn't effective here, but it's a kind way to say i am positive that "fire" is on their second album...
They played at the casino in Winnipeg before covid hit wish that they would come again, they rock
My favorite song still atfer like 30 same years
I was just looking through all my old concert tickets last night and found the one for when HAYWIRE played Canada's Wonderlands Kingswood Theatre. It was on July 4th, 1992. I remember that show very well. Kim Mitchell headlined and he was really good, but HAYWIRE was BETTER in my opinion. They were a fantastic Canadian ROCK BAND! 🇨🇦
what I want to know is, who is the silhouette of? who is the woman?
Ask your dreams.
my favorite band in the 80s
ahhh to be that young again
I fuckkkkkkking LOVE this son ....I'mmmmm onnnn fiiiiiiiiirrrrrrrrrre

Great song after a break-up. We'll see you soon Canada. Proud of all our great bands ;like this Orphan, Aldo Nova, Rush ect
I've been trying to remember who sang this for almost 8 years now, and now I stumble on it by chance! WHOO HOO
Excellent ...
I'd follow you wherever your heart would lead us to....
'So what did I say so wrong?!'- lol - it's the following line..:)- luv this song..-
I still have a crush on paul
Went to high school with drummer Dartmouth high never really knew him but knew his uncle Dave?
Love you haywire in 2021 baby!!
Aor is the best this music have magic
Great
Such a pure tone. Straight-forth rock.
really great song:) i feel the 90's...
BUT it came out in 1987 !!
Bruce absolutely 💯
Great band!
I was in junior year when this album came out 1987
Another great Haywire classic. Living in Detroit area we got CBC channel 9 (and still do) so i usedto watch a daily video show when my parents dropped cable in 1984. i was watching too much MTV! remembering the 80's Canadian bands
Haywire's "Don't Just.Stand There" album debuted in 1987. It was fantastic! I called them the Canadian Def Leppard. 🇨🇦🎸 Yes, a bold statement, but blessed with Marvin Birt -lead guitar, Paul MacAusland -lead vocals, David Rashed -keyboards et all, they had a great songwriting and musicianship in this band. Back in the late 80's there were hundreds of great bands to choose from, but Haywire certainly was one of them! I'm so proud that they're Canadian!
Una de mis favoritas de este album
back again to say I love paul lol
Memories.
Fantastic song.. Respect
amazing music
Great band!!!!
I love youtube
Paul is doing a Billy Squier at 1:10.
Paul had some great moves and loved to listen this band live in the 80's
Could have gone bigger
Egos got in the way one of my favorite bands
Good song about women
@jimjr155 sorry, but what is strange, exactly? a little confused here....tres cool ur sister interviewed them!!!!!!
@jimjr155 not according to every discography i looked up
@unstabledavid this is from their second album...
Don't ever touch my brother again
Don't you ever touch my son again
Great band ... horrible video
Do not touch my boy ever again
