No its not for house keys, but you can do dimple and Mul-T-lock keys if you have that type of key on your house.. How much time will it save ? Well, lots of time if you are cutting a broken or bent key. The automatic code machine is good, but when you try and decode a bent key it can take time and have problems, same with a broken key. So using a duplicator like this will be quicker then the computer code machine in some cases. Also this machine will back up the computer code machine, if you get a bug or a problem with the other, you can go old school and cut the key with space and depth and get the job done.

This is a cheap machine, Silca machine is $6,000, but this one is just as good, if you ask me

It's just a duplicater. If you can't acquire an original key then this machine is useless.
