  • The pin that holds quick connect and thumb was worn as well as there was no shims. Also the bushing in the thumb were worn. This of course caused a lot of “clanging” and I was tired of hearing it. I flipped the cutting edge on the blade also.

Nice job, did you have any problem getting those old bushings out? Where did you get the parts from? I have a KX040-4 and might replace them this winter. Thanks

Thank you! The bushings that are in the stick came out easy but I didn’t replace them as they didn’t have much wear. I took the thumb to a machine shop and had them press them out and make new bushings and press them back in. Also had them make spacers and the pin. The machine shop charged around $300. The local Kubota dealer wanted $140 a piece just for the bushings in the thumb. AMS Construction Parts in Ohio generally has good prices. Also steeltracks.com in Jackson, MS may have your parts. Thanks again for watching!

How many hours did you have on the machine at this point?
I want to check my pins and bushings but it looks like a lot of work.... I don't have much play and I stay up on the grease but don't want to get behind on bushing wear....

Machine had about 3300 hours on it. I replaced the bushings and spacers in the thumb. They were bad worn.
I didn’t replace the bushings in the stick. They were fine with hardly any movement with new pin. I may change them at about 4500 hrs.
It’s not too bad of a job. Hardest thing for me was getting spacers in.
