I think there was no callback to that because a feature of Wii Play Motion is that it will not threaten you. It's probably the third biggest reason why they felt a sequel was necessary, right below Wii Play's sales figures and Pose Mii Plus.

I had a date come to my house one New Year’s Eve and we went through all 12 minigames in Wii Play Motion together. It shows why it helps to have casual games in your library for such an occasion. It was honestly good fun.

Wikipedia even confirms that space docking minigame was one of the last projects they worked on before they merged with Spike.
And yeah it doesn't surprise me at all their minigame was terrible. It seems to be a weak point of theirs to the point I'm shocked they were invited to the party

Danganronpa was created by Spike before the company merged with Chunsoft actually
However Chunsoft did create the Zero Escape series before the merge as well so the point of these contrasting well known titles still stands lol

Never realized how much work Scott goes through in selecting music. I really paid attention to the track selection with what games were on screen etc and every track fits the theme of each game. It’s the little details
