hi Robbie. I cut my lawn at the lowest level and gave it a 4 in 1 feed . to scarifier it I took off the lawnmower blade and replaced it with a scarifier attachment... it took out 100% of thach.. then over seeded ... results are amazing 👏
Just to say not everyone can afford a scarifier machine but the attachment to the lawnmower blades is less than €20 and you also collect the thach on the bag .. thanks from westmeath @@Premier_lawns_official

I plan on doing this with my lawn in the next week or two. Only thing I didn’t see here is fertiliser. Is it best to put down before seeding? I plan on top dressing too.
Great video. Have an old lawn, destroyed with spongy moss. Is it any use to treat with a lawn feed/weed and moss killer product first, then scarify and overseed? Thanks
Love your videos good sir. It's because of you I have a great looking lawn. Next year I will do top dressing. Is there a good time of a year to do that? And with top dressing do I over seed it too?
I remember on the TV years ago, Cyril Fletcher using a galvanised boot scraper, the ones by the door that had strips of metal. It seemed to work well, not sure if they are available now.
If i have new grass planted among old grass (I overseeded), how long do i have to wait to mow, and to scarify since it is spongy too. I removed most moss by hand previously and reseeded whole area. Most moss is gone but lawn is thin so ive overseeded again. Now i have to let the new grass grow in a bit before i mow. Id like to scarify later in the fall but i dont want to rip out all the grass i just planted?
No it's 100 percent not to late, in fact I'm filming one today. Scarify a 500m lawn with an electric scarifer. No thanks, go hire a pro one, it will be worth it all day long. Yes it will cost more, but it will be much easier to do and do a better job
Robbie I've been trying to root out two patches of Yarrow in my garden all summer, still coming up but not as bad, do I continue prising up the root or is their a weed killer will sort this out? Thanks
B&q do westland weed free top soil in N Ireland expensive but great soil. Know a lady who got her lawn top dressed in compost, her lawn is now full of weed grasses.
Any reason you didn’t cut lawn prior to renovation? When I was trained many moons ago it was drilled into us how important it was to cut it short prior. Cheers Cliff.
In a perfect world yes it should be cut before hand. The professional tools let us do it regardless. We wouldn't have the time to cut a lawn beforehand. Not sure people would want to pay the extra either. The client here had a huge lawn out back that we also did, we didn't film it.
@@Premier_lawns_official fair enough. I price my renovation to include a cut, then offer the client a discount if they cut it themselves prior. Seems to work out 50/50. Keep up the struggle! Cheers
@@Premier_lawns_official UK, the lawn is 8 meters wide and 20 meters long. Budget is not an issue and I'm looking to cut it at 15mm every week. I was looking at the Hayter 48 Pro, but I have seen lots of negative feedback on it.
If you are planning on cutting at 15mm you would be much better off with a cylinder mower. Depends on your budget, either new or 2nd hand allett or swardman This time of year you could definitely pick something up if you keep an eye out on Gumtree, ebay or even Facebook marketplace for something local.

You can't use a weed control product and seed at the same time, best to follow the instructions on the fertilizer packet for the best advice on that
That’s a beautiful result. A nice new lawn. What’s the lovely hedge surrounding it? Privet?
Yep 👍 that's a privet 🙂

Looking good, Robbie! Any reason you didn't aerate the lawn on this one?
We did aerate
Hey Robbie, another great video. What brand is that rake? We have similar in Australia but without the teeth on the back.

Is it too late in the year to tackle this? And what's your thoughts on buying an electric scarifier for a 500m2 garden? Keep up the good work

Robbie, do you think it's worth overseeding this autumn if we're not able to use hosepipes?
I'm assuming you are in south England?
If so wait until the end of this month then renovate and it will be damp enough for the seed
@@Premier_lawns_official Thanks. I'm in Yorkshire about level with you, assume same principle applies.
The rake link mentions it is not currently available maybe Pitchcare sells one?

Yarrow can be hard to get on top of, I would go with the weed control and a smidge of washing up liquid to help it stick
Thanks!! 👍
Hi Robbie. Another great video. Tell me this, where do get your bags of topdressing? I'm in Northern Ireland too.

Why's that?
How often should you power rake your lawn? & how deep do you need to go
That will depend on your lawn. If you have the tools to do. Spring and autumn 👍

Mine was spongy because a tree had been removed and the stump was decaying under the grass making a big hole!
