BTW, since you started building your homestead, the neighbor has put up some nice walls on his land as well. You must have motivated him into doing it as well, seeing you doing so much. Cheers!
hahaha, it does feel like a competition and they keep calling me his apprentice. I hear him collecting stones for drainage and then I am doing this a few hours later. My other neighbour think I am his son 🤣
You should also buy another water tank that is twice as big as the one you already have & connect the overflow to the larger tank because you'll need a larger tank when you're living on the plot in the future.
I will be for the house as that will have 3 times the roof area, hoping to put two more of these (or equivalent cost) for that part of the project. I am hoping there are not as much rock in that section of the land 😀
Just a thought on my 50 acres i put goats on it never have to mow and thay make the grass super healthy there is a goat to acre formula on line some place i just got like 20 and when i started building i had like 60 lol just check them and get a shelter for them easy money i love my goats just a thought u and your wife are realy smart great videos and saving the seed heads to choke out weed and get free flower love it she's a peach your a lucky man 👞 f u dont me nd me saying so god bless u all ❤ from Arizona
Hi there, bonjour x my friend in our village has goats and keeps trying to get me to take a few of his babies for the OGP We would love to but we need to get the boundaries secured first. I have just got back with rolls of metal sheep fencing - not quite sure what you guys call it, it was half price so its in my horse trailer until we can get a good deal on wooden fence posts. Just need to get these last few 'good weather' projects behind us before the weather changes. Thank you, my flower seeds are all dried and safe in large glass jars ready for next year . Big thank you for watching its great to read and see where everyone is from x Julie opps and Ian hehe
Thank you at the moment I have them in a wooden crate /box drying out on brown paper Quick question….. should I put them in a brown paper bag then in an air tight box to store ??? Not sure now what to do with them. Julie x
As long as they are dry put them in a clean and dry glass jar. Helps keep the mice away and any other interested critters. Put them in a kitchen cupboard and remember put a label on jar or put a piece of paper with seed type and date stored in jar. You can also pack a few different bags with dates and seed types written on bags in each jar. Remember to seal well and good luck.@@HomesteadingUncontained
You have inspired us to put up gabions at our new build to seperate the house from the veg gardens, 😊 we have a few good youtubers here in Oz another one is the weedy garden he has transformed his land into an amazing oasis in 2 yrs😊
Thank you Lisa - we needed the drainage through the gabions and we are so lucky to have so much stone available on the land. We didn't realise we had so much. We have now finished them and will put a concrete cap along the top.
Hello Ian and Julie! Great to see the T shirt made it to you and thank you so much for the shout out to the channel. That landscaping looks great. It is amazing really how much you can get done with those small machines. Next time I will send you over a Mini Dump Truck!😊
Let me know the tracking number 🤣 Seriously though, after shovelling 4 tonnes of gravel yesterday, I really need to think about something that tips it out......😀
China Blue is a real workhorse. I almost spit my coffee watching the doggo in the concrete bag! That planer is surely getting cobwebs! LOL. Seriously, I think the progress is great and things are progressing swimmingly. ♥ Hope the hens are doing well. Cheers for the USA
It is a small Kubota B2600D from the early 80's but they do look similar to the Yanmar. Really like it although I do need the float function on the front loader.
I found that the pusher blade on my mini digger is great for getting rid of piles of soil, gravel.sand etc. Drag some of it about with the tractor bucket then just keep driving over with the digger blade and bulldoze it all into place?? works for me.
It is such a tiny machine that when I go over a tiny bump the blade digs in and then raises up in the air. I try and use it but with hand controls on the tracks and the blade, I need a third arm.
Hi guys. In the last part of this video when Ian is in his new tee shirt. What are all those block and stone walls be hind him. They look like they are all terraced
that is our only neighbour that borders us. He loves building walls. This is another wall he just built but has being doing it for 20 years. Just tying to get him to finish it off on our boundary line as our dogs keep sneaking onto his land to take a peak at his chickens. 😀
At the moment I just have some fabric over the end but will be putting in a T and then some slotted pipe to spread the excess water. But I will search for some sort of check valve to stop ingress.
Your underground tank (& likely the IBC tanks behind the garage / workshop) appeared to have mosquitos breeding in it. What we do here downunder to stop that is add two cap fulls of kerosine into each tank. It floats on top of the surface, so because your pumping from the bottom of the tank you will never taste it. The kerosine forms a barrier that the mosquito larvae cannot get their Proboscis through the surface meniscus to breath so they die & adults won’t lay their eggs into the water because of it. Simple cheap & easy fix. 👍
I have had a good look but cannot see signs of mozzies... we have them in our current tanks at our house which are a pain. We are quite lucky we do not get many here.
Your backs will thank you once the earth work is all done! Good progress folks.
We ar enow onto more retaining walls - I can hardly walk 🤣

@@HomesteadingUncontained That's funny, wish you many good years in the area. It does look so calm and relaxed up there.
Nice work People!
Thanks Trevor
Well done guys, doing brilliant work 💪
Thanks George
I like that tractor, your both getting a lot of work done
I am so pleased I found this little tractor locally to us - it does a lot of us.
So excited to see "The Tree Change Farmer" mentioned. I do like your powered wheel barrow.
Cheers Martyn, yes I have been subscribed to Dave's channel for quite a while now and I do enjoy his content.

Hi Julie, store the seeds in a cool place. Do not leave in the green house or on a windowsill. They will cook.

@@louistorcello3525 ohhhh a glass jar yes I shall do this & once again thank you for taking the time to help me xxxx Julie
Beautiful place. It might not feel like it with all the work 😂 but you are really lucky.
We love it here and all our family are very close so we will not be moving again 👍🏻

Good work guys another exciting video 👏📸
Thank you Brian 👍🏻
Never enough hours in the day but good to see the progress. 😃👍
We really need to get up earlier these days to fit it all in 😀

That dog is everywhere - trouble is they follow the machines around too so I have to be really careful. Cheers Richard.
i came here for the tractor, it got my attention, it looks a lot like my 87 yanmar
It is a small Kubota B2600D from the early 80's but they do look similar to the Yanmar. Really like it although I do need the float function on the front loader.
The lot is looking fantastic getting everything leveled up has to be time consuming but well worth it!! Looking forward to seeing the block work.
I do like level and square.... just trying to work out the machines to do it.....it is all a learning curve for sure ✔️
Hi ya guys great job looking well
Thanks Liam

Cheers Robert 👍🏻
It’s a bit of a toss up who’s doing the most earthworks, Ian, Julie or the dogs! 😂
They dig behind you and then you step back and twist your ankle, they are little pains
👍👍👍
Cheers - 😀

Do you need backflow preventers for the overflow so nothing can go back through the overflow into the tank? Bugs/critters/etc
At the moment I just have some fabric over the end but will be putting in a T and then some slotted pipe to spread the excess water. But I will search for some sort of check valve to stop ingress.
Just a heads up, I used to have one of them alarms installed on my garage door and it always went off on a windy night…
Yes, I have just found that out - the wind does rattle it.
Hope you're changing that code!
hahaha, this was just a tester. 🤣
It looks odd to me, i would just extend it out it 1m and have a slope you can just mow.
It would mean a large slope which we are trying to get ride off to make cutting easier. It will work out in the end.

Ohh and you haven’t finished the outside timber cladding.
Did you ever get the planer blades to dress the rough sawn boards to complete the job? 🤷♂️
I have had a good look but cannot see signs of mozzies... we have them in our current tanks at our house which are a pain. We are quite lucky we do not get many here.
I have them and have fixed it but this good weather is making us do all the outdoor jobs (muddy jobs) - we will be onto the cladding very soon.
😘 Hi ya
Cheers Mick 👍🏻
