Let me tell you something Sean, I grew up on the east side of Detroit , please carry just a few bucks in your pocket, and never let anyone take advantage of you. Watch your back and stop being so trusting. We love you and your family.
I live in L.A., if anyone sketchy asks me for money, I just tell them 'I don't carry cash'. Although one time a guy actually had the nerve to tell me to go to ATM then. I was speechless and just walked away, fortunately he didn't say anything else
@@jro3213 I get you, especially depending on the areas. but this guy totally walked up and said "I'll do XX for $YY", he clearly didn't want a straight handout in this case. The more he talked, the more 'pride of a workman' showed, too.
Sean is not dense. He knows Curtis had an ulterior motive when he offered to “help”. I get that Curtis is down on his luck, but he still took advantage of Sean’s kindness, and I have to say that kind of has me steamed. That was not 40 dollars worth of work. He could have stuck around and done a little lifting, but nope, just pulling that rake in his half assed effort was his limit. Sean knows this, it was evident in how short he was with Curtis after emptying his wallet for him. Sean wants to keep a positive vibe while spreading kindness. I respect that, but I feel it needs to be said, being a vet doesn’t automatically translate into “honest person” with good intentions. Vets come from all walks of life and some are not nice people. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think Curtis is a bad person. I do think he took advantage of Sean’s kindness and he didn’t really care about the yard or making his community look nicer. Now remember that guy from a few videos ago who helped Sean load some heavy bricks and refused any payment? That is the difference. Again, Curtis was clearly down on his luck and Sean’s payment was charity, nothing more. It just steams me that the person getting the charity had the gall to keep asking for more. That just felt insincere and wrong. I believe that Sean knows all this and he simply choose to be charitable about it. I just wanted to get it off my chest.
I think I heard: 20 dollars before, then I'll give you 30 and then Curtis saying give me 40 lol :D and still Sean just said take it all, he's nothing but kind, I hope karma will serve him accordingly, great guy
Sean gave a dangerous amount of money to someone who might be dealing with addiction(s). Should have bought him a meal instead, and/or maybe some clothes. The whole interaction ("GIVE ME an extra 10 dollars!") was just offputting and manipulative. A well-intentioned, good person doesn't act like that.
I agree, and you summed it up eloquently, better than I could have. I wanted to comment about that, but I was a bit steamed and I decided to stay quiet. Thanks 🙏 for your appropriate comment.
Sean be careful never let a stranger see you get money from your wallet, always keep a few dollars in your pocket and say that’s all I got. Remember everyone is not honest like you so be careful because I would love to see more of your videos in the days ahead. Thank you and continue to be bless
I made the mistake of going to Applebee's on Veterans free meal Mondays. It was so crowded that it took me over an hour to order my meal and eat it! Never! Never! Again! Lol
What I like about you, Sean, is that you do more than mowing. You fix gutters and porches, close off garages and so much more, even on abandoned properties. You are, by far and away, my favorite person in this "yard care" category. You are making Detroit a better place.
@@rohanlady4 I agree 100 percent. I watch other yard transformation channels and I talk to the screen, saying, oh Sean would’ve done this, Sean would’ve fixed that, why did you leave all the “crap” in the yard, Sean would have removed it, or stacked it neatly… yadda yadda. I compare all others to Sean and they don’t come close!
Did you know if you put the leaves in your plastic bin then mulch them up with your string trimmer you reduce it by 75%. Then you can use it as mulch on the gardens of the houses to stop further weeds growing after you leave... that is what a few yard youtubers do here in Australia 🇦🇺
Unlike America, we have free health care, dental and eyes and free education. Why would you want to live anywhere other than Australia? And we have less god botherers!!
You have a good heart Sean. Be careful. Never ever let them see your wallet. That’s the most dangerous time of the transaction as when you’re taking off or landing a plane. Stay safe
not to mention also the man agreed to 10.00 at first then when done he now wants 20.00 then now says 40.00. i dont think hes a vet at all. im a vet u.s. army 17.5 years service come from a long line of military family service all the men in our fam. served. the mans way of talking and body language did NOT support a vet. when i got out i served on a vet.outreach service for 3 years . some want help some dont. this guy sent up alot of RED flags. now he knows you carry cash and are willing to believe any thing he says as the TRUTH. WATCH YOUR BACK!!
If someone says they will do the work for $20 and then keeps raising the price after it's done, that's not an honest person and one you should not deal with.
I get that. I feel though, that it was more out of desperation and opportunity, than dishonesty. I've worked with a lot of homeless people and this personality type. I could see Curtis has a great heart and sincere attitude. Just struggling...like alot of us. I hear ya, though. ❤ Sean did the right thing by voicing only love and appreciation as this is exactly what shows the love of Christ to those in Curtis position. I fully believe Sean has the discernment to decide who he'll work with in the future ;) Awesome video as always!
I enjoy watching you due to your work rate, you dispose of all the edging instead of throwing it back onto the grass, rake all the grass up instead of just mulching it and leaving it, professional job, well done 👏
This is just my opinion but I don't think you should buy the house. The houses on either side of this property are in terrible condition. Someone who is homeless would without a doubt be happy to have a roof over their head but with Curtis roaming around the neighborhood asking for money? That's a dealbreaker for me. You did a stellar job as always and you are very kindhearted. Thank you for YOUR service.
When the first words out of his mouth that I heard were "Give me $20" I knew this could go south really fast. I'm glad you are ok, and I agree with everyone else saying "Never let them see what's in your wallet" because as soon as he did he said "Give me $40". You do amazing work, that's why you're one of my favorite UA-camrs. Stay safe.
Very True about Curtis, he asked for money..but did work, Sean paid him, and that's between Sean and his God. I give to the homeless and people asking for money, my son says I'm a sucker, but I say I did what I wanted to do, and what that person does with the money is on him.
Beautiful transformation ❤ I think it’s awesome you helped out Curtis the first time no questions asked. I instinctively knew Curtis would be back asking for more. I worked in the criminal justice system my entire career, and I’ve worked with many like Curtis in my past. He is conning you, taking advantage of your unbiased kindness. If he calls and wants to work, set some very firm boundaries for him. Give him a hourly wage for a certain amount of money, no exceptions! He will tell you all kind of stories of his hardships, but stick to your rules. That’s the only way Curtis will learn honesty, trust, and the value of hard work. You’re a kind man who makes the world a better place to live in. Thank you
Sean, you have a heart of gold. You helped Curtis out and held your ground when he came back the next day. You cleaned it up beautifully. I hope this house works out for you in helping someone in need.
How exactly was it a shakedown? Sean is a grown adult, he appears to mostly know how to use power tools so I assume he's capable of thinking on his own. He didn't have to give the guy any money, he chose to. He wasn't tricked, he chose kindness over admonishment. Sometimes people like Curtis are just one or two kind acts away from starting to do the right thing. You see this initial attitude a lot doing mission/outreach work, if the locals think you're just going to be in and out they will try to milk you. But if you keep coming back they begin to understand you are there to help and the grifting stops pretty quickly.
@@adamnickels8117 No excuses to use a phrase that doesn’t apply here. There is no shakedown. Sean could’ve said No…period. He chose to help him. Why can’t people just leave it at that?
I hoped Curtis would have come back saying, you gave me all you had, now I'm going to give you all I have, and continued to help Sean out....but as soon as I heard Curtis lifting himself up; building his own self-worth, I had a suspicion of what he was all about...and later, he proved it. ...still, Sean also showed the man he is too, which was admirable! I hope this property turns out to be a great investment, God willing! ❤
I knew that he was going to come back and ask for more money. Next time someone tell you that they served ask when and what branch. A lot of scam artist out there.
@@edolinaoconnor4365 just saying he did come back and bought a lock for his bike I know don't matter but not knowing what going through hard to judge and Sean being himself always looking for good in people just gave in Curtis said was a landscaper hope if he helps don't expect money they make Sean will keep us posted just god is watching over him bless him everyone have a good Thanksgiving and bless you all
@@edolinaoconnor4365 He said Army, but I highly doubt it. ~ I run into a lot of "Veterans" around here. First thing I usually do is ask about their MOS, Rate, rank; ect. Had a guy tell me one time he was an E-9 Sergeant in the Navy. I said, we don't have Sergeants in the Navy buddy & an E-9 is a Master Chief. Learn your rates & rank and you can spot the fakes. www.defense.gov/resources/insignia/
Sean instantly understood what was going on with Curtis, but he chose to act with kindness and help someone in need, regardless of their intentions. That's what I admire about this channel-Sean is a compassionate and generous person at heart.
We all need to be Sean. Help when, where & how much you can . Give people a chance, knowing life & jobs are not easy for many. The second time around Sean was clear on expectations & firm.
You have a big heart. You got shaken down but you always have a good take on it. Curtis looked for you I think. We have several of these guys roaming our small town. It’s not the end of the world but please be extra careful.
It doesn’t matter what Curtis said or did not say or did or did not do, that is not the point. I believe Sean to be a very intelligent human being and I find it sad that some underestimate him. Instead of getting so worked over trivial matters, we all should focus on the goodness that is left in this world, it seems as though negativity is eating us whole. God speed Sean ❤
❤thank you so much for your thoughts. I have been really turned off by the criticism to Sean and Curtis. At this time We are living in a world full of anger and fear. Even someone like Sean who helps his neighbors and asks for nothing in return is subject to judgement for his kindness to another human being. It’s so sad. As I posted elsewhere, Sean can take care of himself. We should just praise him and not judge him. I have noticed on other utube posts where people are helping in some way or other, they get criticized when they reach out to some unfortunate person. I am at the point where I feel like not reading people’s comments. So sad. Again thank you for your comments.
Agree 100%. Sean is no fool. Willing to give a helping hand without comment or restrictions. But second time around, he was the Big Brother who didnt take nonsense & said it kindly but firmly.
I don’t know Sean…. The house on the left is sooooo close and it’s abandoned and boarded up as well as houses behind. I would be afraid to live there, I think. You are such a positive and generous person and do good deeds but I think this house is not the one. Love all you do. ❤️ When I go downtown Detroit, I keep change in my pocket for panhandlers and never open my wallet or purse.
Actual good people don’t need to yap about their achievements or talents. They stay humble. Curtis was bad news from the moment he started putting himself on a pedestal. Heroes don’t brag about being heroes, they just do the work no one else can. I hope Curtis learns humility, honesty, and respect.
Whenever I'm feeling down, or having a hard week, I come here and watch one of your videos. Seeing someone who cares so much always makes me feel better about the world. I don't know you, and you don't know me, but I am genuinely grateful for everything you do, and who you are as a person. Much love from the wilds of Bavaria.
Dang Sean, I'm absolutely in love with your soul, son. My boy's around your age and you remind me so much of him. He has 5 kids all in sports and they all worship together every Sunday. Stay blessed my dear. And love to your family ❤
When someone gives you the I’m a veteran ask them what their MOS was. If they don’t understand what MOS is then they’re not a veteran. I’m the daughter sister and mother of veterans!!
Not sure why it took me so long to figure out why your channel is my favorite, Sean. You don't just show a man cleaning up a property, you bring us along every step of the way. I love how you get so excited to work to make a place beautiful again, and I get a great deal of joy being here with you as you do so. Thank you so very much for taking us with you every week to see your community being improved one place at a time! Bless you and your family, and let's get back to work! ❤🫂
Sean is the living example of what we all should be. Curtis , seems like he took advantage of Sean's kindness, but as one wrote in and said; that's between God and Curtis. Sean is the real deal thru and thru!! God Bless and praying for that 🙏 home will show up for you.❤
🎶Abandoned house to the left, abandoned house to the right, here I am...stuck in the middle with yoooouuuu.🎵 Sorry Sean. I couldn't resist. 😅 There seems to be no lack of uncared for/abandoned homes where you work...same here in my hometown except on a smaller scale. Keep putting one foot in front of the other as you bless others!! Matthew 25!
Good comment and clear use of that song (I'm old enough to remember it too, LOL), love it! Yes, both houses on either side of the potential buy are in desperate need of love. It just breaks my heart to see housing in this condition when housing - affordable housing for families and first-time buyers - is so badly needed.
It appeared that the houses behind it were abandoned too. One of the guys mentioned revitalization of the neighborhood. I bet the city plans to tear down the whole block and let developers put up new housing.
Please talk to your local Habitat for Humanity. There are a lot of reasons why each habitat has several committees, at least one which helps the family acclimate to owning and living in their own home. It's not as simple as you would suspect. There is much more of a holistic need. Remember, whatever problems and family dynamics led to their current situation, they will be bringing into that house with a great deal, more responsibilities. I'm sure you could learn a lot from Habitat's many years of experience.
I agree with you. I use to be a member of a church that yearly helped build a Habitat For Humanity house. Habitat was building an entire neighborhood. The process of becoming an owner of a Habitat For Humanity house owner is long and involved. Classes in basic money management, a certain number of hours building other's homes, etc. Everything required is to help the new owners succeed.
I totally understand cleaning the yard up before you decide to purchase the house. Not even any toilets in the yard. Good sign. I thought that the extra fence you removed was possibly a dog run. I guess a dog leash would be possible. It turned out looking so good.
curtis hustled you, but you knew that and you helped the guy out. you have more than a lifetime of good karma sean. you're a solid dude. keep up the good work 👏
Sean your a blessing to that community. I was born and raised in Michigan and have and will always consider it my home. Although I never lived close to Detroit I have been there several times. I love to see you take those overgrown forest practically and turn them in to beautiful yards. Thank you for all you do!
Please be careful to not be taken advantage of!! You’re a really lovely man but you have worked hard to get where you are today and you do all of these properties for free and I’m sure your family are super proud of you…. Take care and I love watching your transformation
It’s not being selfish, it’s being discerning and wise. God doesn’t want you to be manipulated and the call your foolishness - generosity. God wants you to be wise and discerning and to protect that what He gives you.
My Husband and i have watched you Sean since you started this channel!! We watch most of the yard rescue shows BUT-you are our favorite!! A good Christian Man with kindness as your center! God bless you and watch over you as you change peoples hearts❤
Sean, my 12 yrs son says watching you shoveling is the most satisfactory thing in your videos, for me is the blowing after mowing 😊, there is favorite things for everyone in your beautiful videos, aside from the lifting of spirit that is just watching you in action every week. Love all the different colored leaves on the streets lately, looks like a postcard, love and respect for all you do, from Baja California, Mx. Hello and excellent week for all, and Happy thanksgiving 😃
You are very generous Sean! I like to help people out too, but sometimes you give too much and they don’t want to really help themselves. Curtis needs to get a regular job that he can go to every day and not just bum money and do little jobs off of generous people like yourself! Lotsa luck with the property!
You are definitely a God given human being! You have all the right ways of good communication and treating people like people! Awesome! Keep up the great smile and generosity in these communities!
i appreciate your kindness to curtis, sean. i see a lot of criticism of curtis here but you did what you could to help a fellow traveler in our world. you approach all people with an open heart. bless you for that -
Good morning, beautiful humans! In this season of gratitude, let's do what we can, with what we have, right where we are! As Sean reminds us; "not perfect, but better" ...
Good morning. A small part of your work came up on a Facebook reel about how you were helping someone. I responded letting folks know who you are and to watch your channel! Your work is amazing! I’m a big fan! I say all the time God has a special place in heaven for you. I wish you and your family a happy blessed thanksgiving! Imagine how many people are thankful for you this thanksgiving for blessing them!❤❤️🙏🏽🙏🏽
Sean. The house is looking terrific You did an amazing job. Thank you. Also thank you for helping Curtis. The amt you pay him is your business. It did appear he has some issues and thank you for being kind… I don’t why issues. He asked nicely/ did work/ did not lie/ Grateful and said he would do better. Most people even for money don’t help you. Thank you for kindness
When you started to blow these leaves to a pile... for me it looked like gold and copper glitter! Put me in the right mode to start with Christmas Decorations!😊 That is definitely a nice neighbourhood! And a nice house too! The view from the front windows to the other side of the street with these cute little houses and the trees ... I would love it!❤❤❤ Thank you for showing the potential of that property!😊❤
I love that you helped that man. No questions asked. You gave it with a full heart and that's all that matters!! Also, a porch on that house would look amazing.
It's Monday! Best day of the week to have our favorite man on; Sean ; doing what he does best; helping out his community. Today he helped an Army Vet and I hope he gives him a call to help him out more in future videos. I also think this is a great house for a family in need and I would love to see this come to fruition. Please let us know more about how your subscribers can help. I think we would all love to see a homeless family get into this home.
I think Sean likes to work alone ! To much liability when you have a stranger helping you out ! Could cause some unintentional problems , person could claim an injury or another issue which could cost Sean monetarily ! So its best he work alone unless a family member or a close friend helps him out !
The front and side entrances need some kind of hand rails for the elderly. There's probably enough room out back to build a small deck. Isn't it nice when your mower fits through the gate?
Yeah !! Went from $20 dollars to give me another $10 dollars to give me $40 dollars ! And only did 5 minutes of raking ! Curtis saw an easy mark in Sean ! Think Sean would rather work by himself ! Low and behold Curtis is back for more !
Great job Sean. 😊 Hope you get the property at a good price. You were so generous to that man that kept coming back asking for money, at least he did a little work, but was definitely taking advantage of your kind nature.
Another great transformation. I think it is great how you give the projects a finished look with the clean ups, not "It's vacant, but it looks better." Who else physically raised thrir hand when he asked about shovelling? 👋
Sean, I can’t think of many things I’d rather do more than relax and watch your videos. You inject far more human interest into your work than any other utube personality doing yard projects. Also, your generosity is to be commended not criticized.
I just 💘 be that you talk to us while YOU do all the work!!! And yes, I answer you when you ask questions. I look forward to Mondays. Your work makes a difference. Thank you Sean! ❤😊❤😊❤😊

IMO, focusing on restoring Detroit neighborhoods is the perfect mission statement. Cleaning yards Is a gateway to introducing the wonderful people of your city to the rest of the nation. I have been inspired by the locals like Curtis and so many others who are persevering thru the downfall of factories. May I encourage you to stay on the path you have taken in the city God has placed you and your family.
Such a nice transformation. From Distressed to Hopeful. Weather or not it's you that buys it I hope someone will it has so much potential. Be safe, God Bless.
Sean, i love your generous soul and kind heart. I do feel like you might need a bodyguard or someone to stop you from being too good to people. I am glad you helped Curtis and were able to do so financially, but brother, that could have gone wrong in so many ways. Love what you do. Praying for you and your family. Love from niagara falls ontario ❤
I discovered this channel a few months ago and have enjoyed seeing how it's growing. I love having something to look forward to on a Monday morning (office worker here 😅). Thanks for all you do!
You showed true kindness to Curtis. Hopefully that seed will begin to grow in him. The property looks 100% better. I like the idea of rehabbing a house for a family in need. I hope this house could work out and become a sweet home for a family. Great job!
I agree that guy was a little sketch, but your generosity and lack of judgment of him was a fantastic seed of God...planting the seeds everywhere is how we lead more people to life with Jesus ❤ Bless you Sean 👏
You've probably already had this idea but you should leave like a "calling card" on the properties that you beautify 😄.. Like one with a small post that goes in the ground in front of the property (similar to a real estate agent) and it says that this property has been made over by you with a QR code to the video if they want to watch the transformation of the property 🥰 Lots of the locals will be curious as to why the property has been tended to and it will give them reassurance that it's just a super wholesome, kind and hard working family man going out of his way to make their neighborhood look nice again. More views and more subscribers ❤ which is what you deserve. Lots of love from New Zealand 🇳🇿
Sean it’s okay to say no to people. Curtis seemed to really take advantage of your kindness. Your safety needs to be priority and that could’ve gone bad really fast. Be careful in the future.
I know its very hard to trust people in todays society, with scammers and self entitled jerks seemingly everywhere but we lose a bit of ourselves when we choose not to help the needy and down on their luck ( for whatever reason ). Sean is not a pushover, he knows when to draw the line. Curtis didnt just ask for money he offered his help and even though he said he blew it ( who hasnt done that with an unexpected bonus ) he still worked for it again. Thank you Sean for what you do and the humanity you show in every video. Stay well all 💚🐝
You have a big heart to give more than what was asked for. It’s sad that he asked for more than what he did. But it’s about the faith of helping someone in need.
I love your videos. That being said, can I make a suggestion? Cutting down these trees won't stop them from regrowing. You can get Stump Killer from Lowe's and it is a quick way to ensure they don't grow back. Thank you for all the work you do!
Funny story: Whenever i see you do your speeded-up bits it makes me think about when the Pandemic was on her in Spain our Yoga teacher was sending us all a class online. She speeded it up so we could slow it down to do the class at home. There is one elderly sweet lady who didn't know about this slowing down business . . . well she pulled a muscle in her calf and done her back in trying to keep up with the original download. A few of us lied and said we made the same mistake to make her feel better lolllllll Great video, thank you. . i wouldn't have been as generous or patient with Curtis though, you are a good bloke x

I’m thrilled to find your UA-cam channel. I have been watching YOU for months on Facebook channels. Many people post your videos as their own, but until today you never mentioned the name of your channel (or they deleted it), so when you mentioned it in this video, I raced right over here. Thanks for doing this.
Thanks for helping the community. Yea that guy hustled you but you showed him kindness which not to many people do. He will be talking about you for a long time. God helped everyone regardless of who they were and that’s how we should all be. Thank you for showing that example. Thanks again Sean
I love how you don't judge an abandoned property by the way it looks now, but what it's potential is. What it COULD be.❤ I bought (and eventually sold for a bigger space) several homes that others stuck their noses up over. With a little love and elbow grease they turned out to be our wonderful homes over the years. You treat everyone with kindness and respect, even if they turn out to not deserve your respect. Even then you let them just be who they are...with no harsh words. I am excited to see what this property MAY bring to you, a family and the community
I hope you can purchase this home to give a family-in-need a home. I also feel for poor Curtis. I feel like he took advantage of you, but I do understand his position. My elderly parents are both on social security and that money literally goes nowhere nowadays. Bills and groceries are simply too much. Really hope that things improve for Curtis. Thank you for being so kind to him, Sean.
I am newly retired and have had to learn new ways to do things. If they have cable tv, get rid of it. Get an appropriate antenna for local stations, and a Roku. My son is a cable / Internet tech and he can't believe the elderly people that have cable boxes in five rooms and only 1-2 TV's. They are paying monthly on every box they have. Don't get ZUMO. Bad product compared to Roku. Roku has no monthly charge and does not require a smart tv.

I second this. I really like the little extras.

Curtis, won't get away with his greedy ways, God sees the bad and the good, so look out Curtis!
Sean should have said, stick around Curtis and earn that extra money l gave you!

Am 70 and a widow for 21 long years, from Philippines. Loved much watching your videos. You're so incredible fellow. God bless your venture, Sean.
Yes Curtis, thank you for your service. Your acting ability has driven Sean's rating UP!
Don't let that man scam u for money, make him work for the mon😮
What's best about Sean is that he does the work as if it's his own home. It's truly amazing.
Hope he is not on drugs Sean, he taking advantage of your good heart.
When the first words out of his mouth that I heard were "Give me $20" I knew this could go south really fast. GREAT TRANSFORMATIONS. I really like the ground viewing.
@@MarvinThiessen Please notice, Curtis each time offered to work, then did work. That's more than a lot of people do.

A shakedown is a shakedown and it's dishonest. No excuses.
@@adamnickels8117 100% true.
@@HunterTN exactly. He doesn’t know the definition of a shakedown obviously.

Good comment and clear use of that song (I'm old enough to remember it too, LOL), love it! Yes, both houses on either side of the potential buy are in desperate need of love. It just breaks my heart to see housing in this condition when housing - affordable housing for families and first-time buyers - is so badly needed.
@@jannibal9273 aaahhhh! Now I have that earworm...
Everything required is to help the new owners succeed.
it's always good to partner up with a solid ministry instead of doing things on our own - the support is needed especially when things get tough
I totally understand cleaning the yard up before you decide to purchase the house. Not even any toilets in the yard. Good sign. I thought that the extra fence you removed was possibly a dog run. I guess a dog leash would be possible. It turned out looking so good.

Dear Shan,
I am watching you from Germany, and I would like to thank you very much for your work! You are so wonderful and kind. The world needs more people like you, and the world would be a better place ❣️ thank you so much for everything you’ve done!!!!
Thanksgiving is all about family and community. Thanks for leading by example Sean!
I love how you don't judge an abandoned property by the way it looks now, but what it's potential is. What it COULD be.❤
I bought (and eventually sold for a bigger space) several homes that others stuck their noses up over.
God is using you to bless so many people, including utube fans. You are spreading the light, hope, joy, and most importantly, love. I know that you make me smile, and this is where the healing starts for our minds, spirit, and heart. You and your family are so gorgeous.
