Such a grandeur gesture. Now I might apply this with entering windows to be a proper-mannered burglar.
and make sure you knock before entering, it's only polite
То чувство, когда ты грабитель в Канаде😂 (или в Британии)
lol
Enter with a tux please !!how rude
Oh yes please and don’t forget to dress for the occasion, after all you need to set precedence for all other well mannered burglars. 😂😂😂😂🍾
If you forgot the house key, then they should show us how to politely break down the door.
I prefer to do it the "Shining" way. With an axe breaking a hole into the door and then with a friendly smile greating all the people within that room. 😂
"Here's JOHNNY !"
I have been doing that since childhood, but I don’t think my spin around is as sexy as yours . Thank you for reminding us to either learn or keep our good manners .
at this point am i even breathing properly-
No. Lol
Love the spin. No idea this was a thing! Thanks RB!
If you wanna do it the correct way, you gotta do it my way. Firstly, you light up a cig then you spit on the floor AND only after you've done that you can proceed with full force kicking the door open, voila! You've now been fired.
Thank you for the lesson. Enjoyed your choice of fanfare!
Short and sweet - thanks
Much wow. Such class. So fancy. - DOge
I have been doing this for years and one day thought to myself ‘Why do I open and close doors like this?’ Then I found this video.
Okay! I was missing the spin, guys! Got it!
1:10 I think you’ve got your left and right the wrong way round
This is British humor (humour), right? Right?
So elegant👏🍷
I want to become a proper butler now i’m jealous.
Wait... is this for Butlers or for all people?
Do I have to shut the door after I enter?
In the house I grew up, there was a policy that if a door was found shut, we should shut it back before we leave. If it was open, we leave it open.
Is there anything like that in etiquette?
That’s why you close a door not shut it, because they made door closers
The doorknob at my place is on the other side of the door. Is it safe to assume that I use the left hand instead? Other than that change it works perfectly.
What about if you were opening for another person and there was a glitch in the space time continuum?
Would you be torn in two pieces?
Would you be saved by a tighter spin?
Love this, but would it work in an office? I feel like you’d look a bit daft pirouetting through office doorways
I think most of the office doors are on auto open and close system 😂
@@MM-lr5hv doesn't mean you still can't do the spin. :)
Hello!! is great to see your videos! can you share with us some good books to read if we want to discover more about butler rules?
That schizophrenic as door interaction 😂
Learning some Manners

Sorry Grant but you got the hands right but described them wrong when you reentered the room. Might be a good idea to do the scene again as I could recommend it for accuracy ! However, I still appreciate what you do, and look forward to any new videos you might care to make covering other aspects of day-to-day etiquette.
What is this song name at the start of the video?
Days of Splendour music 🎵
I'd get dizzy, better let someone open the door for me
lmaoooo
The fact i already do this lol
Bullshit... spinning around and changing hands is nonsense. Butlers need to bring things into rooms with them and can't be spinning around switching hands carrying a tray.
Instructions unclear, i slammed the door in my own face
Lol, sounds like Monty Python sketch.
_The sad part is that I actually searched this up_
How. He's allowed to keep his Scottish accent. How progressive.
Wait, that's Scottish? I truly believed he was English. It wouldn't matter to me anyway, I can't tell apart the accents.
Why am i watching this?
Because you and I both are about to win a lottery jackpot and we’ll be hiring butlers. 🤷🏿♀️
@@BBFLYRISEN
ワロタ😂
Never thought about these little details. It does seem more proper.
After I watched this, I applied this to my everyday life and it’s effortless! I even received a compliment from someone in an office that I was entering.
Damn it, i´ve done it wrong - all my life. Just walked in mindless. So much lost opportunities to show off.
"Right hand on the handle" while using his left. Was this uploaded with the video flipped horizontally? Or is it another example of England and America being separated by a common language?
Instructions unclear, got stuck between the dimensions
If the door knob was on the other side, would the hands be switched?
Instructions unclear- I tried this and I ended up in the back of a police van
i hope one can do double or triple spins when feeling especially fabulous 😃
I like to put an extra full spin during the spinning part. If I'm feeling saucy I do a little pattycake with the door handle too.
😂
hahaha - fantastic. Thank you for that.
Thanks . Earlier I used to kick the door with my right leg and enter room .
Damn. I've been opening and closing doors wrong my whole life.
:)
So you don't get stabbed or shot in the back. Not saying I'm paranoid or anything of that nature..!
It's definitely the spin that makes such a mundane chore a far superior and sublime movement.
Even before watching this I used to do it the same way and for spinning it around my parents called mad 😹
So much class, so much elegance.
This is what I've been missing all of my life
Thank you for making these videos.
i thought i seemed silly whenever i did this turns out its just my natural noble tendencies heh😌
what if you smack someone with the door because you look behind you when opening door
Next time, would you please include the "why" and "since when", the pros and cons, and what impression it leaves vs. a "here's ma behind coming and going"? That's the stuff that makes this all relevant to us today. Thanks kindly!
Here’s one:
When you need to enter a room or an elevator, and someone else needs to exit,
generally speaking, the person who needs to exit has the right of way.
Love the video. Thank you for your advice! What is the song playing in the background?
Then you get dizzy and fall all over the floor
it just occurred to me that the process isn't symmetric between either side of the door, the "room" gets more face time, which i guess makes sense if people tend to be in rooms and mere hallways tend to be on the other side. but if there are two rooms..does one have to make a guess as to which room has the more important people? :-D if the queen was waiting for you in the hallway would you have alter your passage so that you're facing the queen with the maximum amount of time? does anyone leave her in hallways... :-)
Doubt she spends much time waiting in hallways. She's last in first out.
This is a very good way to impress someone on formal meeting such as job interview. Thank you so much.
Pretty cool. And it's actually very useful when you have to close and locked the door very quickly.
Should call this the door waltz.
1:11 "Left hand on the handle!"
Isnt that the right hand? Am I missing something here?
It's Europe they do everything backwards there
Yes, you're missing something. He's dyslexic.
U r right
😂😂😂
I watched 3 times to make sure I was seeing it correctly & that he was the one mistaken. I'm dyslexic & thought it was in high gear!
They probably think they're driving on the right side of the road and don't understand why it's different in USA.
Yeah, but what if you're opening the door for a guest, allowing them to go into the next room, and then closing the door for the guest while remaining in the same room you started in. Where do I stand? Where do I put my hands?
Did this tradition come from a time when the butler also acted as a guard and needed a complete view of all points around the room, or is it in fact just a display of courtesy.
It is from the days of never tuning your back in a room! Incase someone attacked you.
@@TheRoyalButler as a former security guard my first thought was surprisingly appropriate. Thank you for your timely response.
Thank you very much sir,it's a very interesting channel
Did a full 180.
As a Muslim, I've been taught when you enter a room always use your right hand and foot. When you exit the room always use your left hand and foot. Its similar to what you have taught me. Thank you for teaching.
How very interesting! You enter a Japanese tea room with your right food and exit with your left.
@@lanastraea That's interesting and thank you for the information. 💚
What? No pirouette? I'm disappointed.
Bro dosen't which is right which is left
Doesn't know* Also it is his right and left, not the camera perspective
I want him as my uncle
This is how I enter rooms when I’m high on cocaine and trying to go unnoticed.
HAHA
Same fam
😁🤣
Very nice. 👌Thank you sir.
This was a piece of art. Thank you. :-)
Wow, I would never have known that. How very interesting. Thank you.
Sweeet! Knocking has been removed from the rule book.
now i canbe gentleman
need to learn how to spell first
@@skeetrix5577 uh im not english but i try to speak
What do you do if there are royals in the rooms on either side of the door? You're simultaneously leaving one room while entering another so which room do you face into?
Can get tricky, but acknowledge them all.
😂
How about you just walk through it
Smash it down
Peasant.
The orchestra for this proper tutorial is truly a sendshome for the magnificence of its execution. 👏 bravo
そもそもドア自体が普通の家のドアじゃない。
A head held up high with confidence and straight back while walking into a room with a beautiful warm smile⚜is so gracious!
Hmmmm. So much spining... what if someone decides to come out when I'm in the coming-in-spin?:)))
😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Same for woman?
What is that song at the beginning called
I am curious what that door actually leads to.
precious item ahead
🗿🍷
I tried this but I got dizzy!
Are u not suppose to knock?
No because that’s your own room 😂
This guy could crossover Lebron, Jesus.
Awesome Video
Thank you 🙏🏻
Dear Royal Butler, thank you for your lovely videos. However, I have to say, that you are never allowed to turn your back to the people when entering the room. So, when opening the door and entering the room, you do not turn around and make any such manoeuvre to change hands, you change your hands behind your back always facing the people in the room.
You misspoke on which hands you were using when re-entering the room. Did you notice?
When entering the room, it seems you opened the door with your left and closed the door with your right
I’ve always been doing it that way 🤷🏼♀️
Yeah I know and no body noticed ! What a shame 😂
I know this video is several years old. However, my question is if the person in the office was say a king/queen, how would you incorporate the bowing/curtsy required of lower classes
And remember to check if you turned the stove off for the umpteenth time
What is the background music at the start? I've been searching for it for a long time! Thanks!
Messico E Nuvelo by Mas.S
That is simple, though with respect and effective 👍
Well, what a good thing to know! I absolutely adore your series!
