Yes, but the government can’t just give more cash to particular organisations. There is no case to suggest anybody is more worthy than anybody else. Sometimes the economics for any family can be tough. Depending on the country’s economic state. The 1st economic lesson in life is always to LIVE WITHIN YOUR MEANS. And you may love your job. But if it isn’t providing enough income, then you go and get a better paid one. Making insulting comments about people working in McDonalds does nothing to advance an argument about someone’s personal circumstances. When I was young we had a progressive Prime Minister, who turned the economics of Britain around. She thought people that nothing is a given in life. And you and only you are responsible for your outcomes. Looks like some of those lessons are lost and the begging bowl is making a return.
I understand what you’re saying, but I think the woman’s angle is: A) not to denigrate McDonald’s workers but to point out that she is earning an equivalent wage while working a skilled profession she had to study and qualify for, whereas McDonald’s workers need often no prior experience or training, B) society is not becoming a “begging bowl”, the cost of living has soared astronomically since those times, (and not just due to inflation but in real-terms), and she is asking how a full time working mother cannot afford to feed her family- do you really believe she is spending luxuriously while asking her mother to help feed her kids and fuel her car? C) she is directing this question to Priti Patel since she is the minister ultimately responsible for the Police force that she’s employed for, and it’s only right that she is answerable to the employees for which she sets an example D) The government can, should, has the power and does just “give more cash to particular organisations” - the primary and most important function of our (and any) government is to fund the state institutions that keep our lives ticking over- health service, defence, infrastructure and policing, for example. Now, I’ve voted Conservative, Labour, Liveral Democrat, Green and all over in my life, so coming from a non-partisan standpoint, Priti Patel is one of the most unfocused, economically wasteful and woefully inept politicians the cabinet has seen in many years. And if you don’t believe me, believe Conservative grassroots and party members: she ranks consistently as the most disliked and and unpopular cabinet minister currently in government. Her reputation is dire. She has no core values, she blows whichever way the wind does, she is a highly reactionary, headline hunting power grabber who shows fealty only to whomever can give her the chance to further her own career. Case in point: the woman has spent £120 million on the Rwanda deal, and taking ethics out of the equation, I think that says it all: a terrible amount of money to hand the first 3rd world country that agrees, before even one single aslylum seeker has been deported (and still hasn’t…). Indeed, i think most would agree, this money might have been better spent on more economically conservative and more proven methods of stemming immigration. Like, for instance, funding the wages of police officers and border forces. 🤷🏼
A) What she said does denegrate other workers in other jobs. You cannot compare jobs in this manner. She is comparing Apples with Oranges. Not least because she works for, and is funded by the state. McDonalds is private sector. They can do choose to set the rate dependant on their business model and the market rate. Oh n the public sector there is no market. Pay is often less than the private sector. But that is compensated by far better conditions of employment and most definitely the best pensions available anywhere. In the private sector there is no such thing as being under paid or over paid. You are paid the rate the market dictates. This is why, for example, people who suggest Footballers are overpaid, clearly haven’t a clue about market economics and individual value within that market. To suggest anyone can be “overpaid” is ridiculous.
B) I’m afraid given the evidence provided by my Wife from an inner city school. Child welfare comes 2nd maybe 3rd in the 21st Century. As parents see it as their right to posses the latest mobile phone. Have the big Sky tv package and all the cosmetic treatments they desire. Shocking but true.
D) at certain economic points . The Government cannot afford to give money to the public sector. These, are those times. To demand pay without any measure of value or performance is what shattered public owned industries in the 1970’s The last Dinosaur of that era remains in the shape of the NHS. The bottomless pit of miss managed chaos and poor performance.
** I’m no fan of Politicians and in general. Most of the decision making is self serving and short sites. Priti Patel has a record of twisting and turning depending which way the prevailing wind blows! From memory through, she pales into insignificance compared to the mess the last Labour Government left us in. They themselves admitted that they’d emptied the treasury. For the public sector to demand pay over everybody else must be accompanied by some form of transparency about how and where they spend MY money. Back to the lady in question. She chose public service. There was always a limit to the salary. Use your “professional” skills and run a Ford dealership etc. Then there is the financial reward for applying yourself in the private sector. But NEVER compare yourself to people in other jobs unless your willing to change places with them. At the end of the day she chose the career path. It really isn’t the taxpayers fault.

The ones on benifits who can afford some finer things in life are doing something on the side we shall call them dealers.
Talk is cheap, false promises, smug looks , heavenly glances, everything you expect from an out of touch ,uncaring Tory
We do have the power to stop all this pretty awful and bojo ect ect have us all thinking we are powerless we have lost the plot somewhere they work for us and if they are not upto the jobn it is up to us to sack them. The people who should not be allowed to vote are the very rich nor should they be allowed to meddle in votes. The poor need to start counting the votes via online keep it civil that no arguments about who you voted for though that way we are they ones who do the counting.
Utter tripe answer
I need 1500 hundred pounds
2300 take home and she's struggling? I'm sorry what? am I missing something here? She has 1 child...my sister is a single parent of 3 in wayyyyyyyyyyy less and is able to manage. Great question but from an absolute arsehole. They need someone who is literally jst about making ends meet who are jst about earning minimum wage to ask that question.
@@MrSmith7726 the more they earn the more they spend and in this case thats her. She would also get her child benefit ontop of that PLUS as a single parent and working for the police, she would ensure that she's also getting money from the father for her child. Silly bitch. Probs living all fancy in a big fancy area and big car which is eating up loads of her money. She needs a budget planner. Not help from the government.
what about care workers ???? do they take home a fraction of that???£2300 take home is a good wage, bet shes living in a 5 bed detached house and driving an suv. get real you vile women and sort your finance out. single parents out there have to survive on a lot less than that
What _about_ care workers? According this mad woomun people on min wage take home £2100 a month
No she doesn’t Harry, a fact I know.. - £40k is not an outlandish salary. It’s a good salary but you can still struggle. She also argues about £1.4k a month. Everyone is feeling the pinch, bills are doubling or rising across the board.
Calling someone Vile is very childish Harry..
@@foxxydta5320 struggling on 40k????? With 1 child. Please get your head out of ur arse. If you live above your means have have a fancy house and a fancy car which all the police officers have, then yeah ul struggle. See the more you have the more ul spend. She made herself sound like an idiot by saying that.
@@foxxydta5320 top 20% uk salary and according to reports lives in 400k House. So she's talking shit
This isn't a victim competition, nobody who works full time should be struggling to make ends meet. 2300 per month before bills for a specialist DC is a fucking disgrace, as is 1300 per month as minimum wage.
Vicky needs to set priorities with how she manages her money; and she should be able to receive child support from the biological father if he’s alive; and employed.
Her mother should be able to help her out.
No one should need to ask parents for help - thats not the answer
@Alex because Patel is incompetent!
And how about she gets paid a fair salary to begin with?! You gotta love it when people just totally miss the point.
@@WhoWho569 shes getting net 2300 a month after pensions and other things. Thats more than fair.
I don't think you get it, as she shouldn't have to rely on her mother as that's like saying I could always lend £10 of one of the neighbours for godsakes.
Semi-Socialism at its best.
I understand what you’re saying, but I think the woman’s angle is:
A) not to denigrate McDonald’s workers but to point out that she is earning an equivalent wage while working a skilled profession she had to study and qualify for, whereas McDonald’s workers need often no prior experience or training,
B) society is not becoming a “begging bowl”, the cost of living has soared astronomically since those times, (and not just due to inflation but in real-terms), and she is asking how a full time working mother cannot afford to feed her family- do you really believe she is spending luxuriously while asking her mother to help feed her kids and fuel her car?
C) she is directing this question to Priti Patel since she is the minister ultimately responsible for the Police force that she’s employed for, and it’s only right that she is answerable to the employees for which she sets an example
D) The government can, should, has the power and does just “give more cash to particular organisations” - the primary and most important function of our (and any) government is to fund the state institutions that keep our lives ticking over- health service, defence, infrastructure and policing, for example. 🤷🏼
A)
What she said does denegrate other workers in other jobs.
To demand pay without any measure of value or performance is what shattered public owned industries in the 1970’s
The last Dinosaur of that era remains in the shape of the NHS.
