#GRAMMYs #Gojira
i love how he represented the metal community in such a intelligent way.
Cringey af
@@skottcoucill8343 sthu
The fact that Joe had to sell the track, the album, and God forbid me when I say this, his band and the metal community, to voice out that our planet is in grave danger and yet, the Academy doesn't recognize this?! Man, Gojira is way too good for this planet. Because they're from another planet entirely! Period.
Like, from Another world?
@@NadigofVidyaraNyapura I see what you did there.
BIGBIG stuff. the biggest. I think about it all day, everyday..the natural world is #1 n humanity needs to recognize this
@@TheSadistNat1on yeah most people don’t care though. Those interviewers were probably happy to get Joe out of their face so they could get back to their fake worlds and stuff their faces with meat like “normal people.” The uncomfortable truths most want to ignore.
Edit: the irony that this is the only comment with no reactions…
Its funny that the most boring, album won over gojira
I love that. He doesn't care too much about the Grammys, he's just glad he can use the platform for people to hear his message.
So every leftist celeb ever
@@waidaracabudu1827 Ok?
@@waidaracabudu1827 based leftists
🥲💕
@@waidaracabudu1827 I don’t think it’s left wing. The left is way too extreme and radical.
Rare footage of joe not being the most socially awkard person in the room
He's a bit shy when he's not on stage cussing, playing, growling, and getting metal heads to move their asses
Probably because they’re not used to meeting genuine, wholesome individuals, so they don’t know what to make of him lmao
0:52 "who are you excited to see tonight? its such a big fun concert" performers were Brothers Osborne, BTS, Brandi Carlile, Billie Eilish, Lil Nas X with Jack Harlow, and Olivia Rodrigo.....
joe basically politely says im not excited to see any of the performers...
Damn, that’s the worst lineup I’ve ever seen.
Interviewer: “Who are you excited to see?”
Joe: …Well
🤣
Hahahaha! I was laughing at that part too!
@@clichejose5600 lol he actually dodged that question very nicely without being insulting. Joe is pretty sharp.
Gojira is super under-appreciated musically and lyrically. Never going to forget the day i discovered them.
I mean dude is on the red carpet, nominated for a grammy lol
same... the day i discovered them was the day i saw them live, right after magma came out... amazing concert, and they're now one of my favorite bands
there was a kid about 10 years old there with his dad in the front row... after the show the drummer(Mario, joes brother) jumped down off the stage, gave the kid his sticks and took a picture with him
@@commandingsteel i discovered them through magma as well, it was through Silvera that i fell in love with their sound.
@@templeecho1206 don't get me wrong Dream Theater is good they have their own unique style, but The Alien was not as good as Gojira's Amazonia. My opinion though i still feel like Gojira should've won the grammy. Still very proud to see that they got nominated.
They set the bar to high, for me it's the best music of all time.
Proud of Joe & the band. I drove bus for Gojira's 1st U.S. tour w/ Amon Amarth & Children of Bodom - 2006. Polite & studious off stage, FIERCE on stage. Great guys!
I know this comment got buried but that’s amazing
Not just a great band. Great humans. Hope they are around for a very long time!
He came into grammy ceremony with casual shirt, that's already more metal than the rest of the nods.
the blonde lady is in awe that a musician, let alone a metal musician is so well spoken, thoughtful and polite haha.
AND that a Frenchman could speak such good English. I'm amazed myself.
@@CosmicCamelClash ^^ he definitely trained a bit for the grammy. After shows and festivals especially in France, he can`t hide the Frenchman. Which is quite charming and still easy to understand.
This man has more class and good will than 95% of the celebrities attending the event. The 300 grand he was able to raise no doubt pale in comparison to the spending involved in putting this lil soiree on so American celebrities can pat each other on the back. This is not a Hollywood millionaire doing their 5th Vanity Fair feature. This is a French dude with a guitar trying to save the damn Amazon forest. This should be more important for us, collectively, as a society, than Olivia Rodrigo's teenage heartbreak.
God damn this comment make me the day Hahahahaha dude you cant say more rigth
For real man. Incredibly well said.
The last line 🤣🤣
Couldn't agree more
Sadly, a teenage heartbreak is far more relatable to most people in the western industrialized nations than the persitence of an enormously large piece of forrest...
Knowing does not always mean understanding.
They're already one of my favourite bands, but this interview makes me appreciate Gojira even more. What a humble guy.
We need more people like Joe Duplantier
POP Artists : "..Bla bla bla ..great time ..having fun ...famous people ..after party ..Dance to the Rhythm .. Do i look Good ?? yay yay "
Joe Duplantier : "..need to make conscience to make a better world though our music "
Joe is so wholesome and nice
0:50 instead of saying IDGF about this artist he handled it well.
Glad they just let Joe talk... some interviewers would constantly be interrupting
Best red carpet / grammy interview I will ever see.
Humbleness in this guy is already a winner. I feel glad that I discovered their music.🤘
God bless this man and his band.
I haven't seen much of the Grammys, but now I've seen this interview, and I've seen the acceptance speech by Petrucci, and man... I must say they give such a good impression of metal musicians! They are so polite and articulate, and are such gentlemen, much more than many others there who just think they're the center of the universe, and just think of themselves. I'm impressed!
Joe is the most humble human!! So nice and down to Earth and uses fame to help others and our planet! Wish more people were like Joe!
I’m so glad they weren’t short with him and continued to let him speak, whilst asking further questions.
Gojira is currently one of the best band and I feel sorry for the ladies of not understanding whats going on in Brazil 😂😂😂
what makes you think they don't understand lol? it's not supposed to be some kind of debate
Lmao they know, they just don't care
@@alexbrown4426 Basically.
@@alexbrown4426 and how do you know they dont care?
Their body language tells that they were very interested
This guy is a class act. Much respect him and the rest of Gojira.
Amazing band and Joe is great. Met him by accident before seeing them live the next day. We took a selfie and he was just so nice
This makes me even prouder to be a Gojira fan!
Joe “Yellow Flower” Duplantier 😍
I don't really listen to Gojira, but I can tell Joe is a genuine dude. I'll probably go listen to some more Gojira. Much love from Québec, Canada
I had no idea we shared the same nationality, I have been listening to them for 6 months, love their songs and message
It's awesome to see real people doing great things like Gojira is doing. Awecome guys, so humble. I appreciate them more now. Long life to Gojira.
I love the fellas of Gojira. They are just such awesome dudes! And great musicians.
Planning on seeing them 3 times this year. They're that fucking good.
Got to see them at a small venue in Kansas City back in October. Probably the best concert I’ve ever been to!
Those Duplantiers! Gojira's 'The Art of Dying;. The art in their musicianship; the art of giving a meaningful message on the Grammy red carpet. Tres magnifique. 🎶
This is so relevant....thank you for everything you do Joe!!!! Much respect and love to you and Gojira!
Rock and metal artist wanna send a message even when they come to a ceremony like Grammy awards. That's the difference between them and main pop industry
Disgraceful that gojira didn't win
Ikr, Dream theater did great but Gojira definetly deserved it Imo
Dude, It's the Recording Academy, what did you expect in the 1st place?
@@Qliphirot deftones knowing the grammys
i love gojira, but Amazonia isn't the best track off Fortitude
@@commandingsteel Grind would've won them the Grammy purely because of the chorus
Great interview. Spread the word!
Gojira is the best. And am so glad I discovered them
Every single one us needs to learn from Joe and better ourselves and our planet. He is an amazing human! 💖
awesome lesson for everybody what joe tries to explain
I really admire this man. I saw them perform last night.
Classic... Rare and Real artist
Gojira are more important than most people will ever realise
I love how he talks about this amazing experience he had in South America and the interviewer immediately turns it into an instagram moment by saying "that must have been a life changing experience for you." It sounds so hollow and really undermines the whole point of what he's trying to say.
Grammy nowadays looks like when I see mtv music awards. That's the level.
yep.
he deserve win, Gojira ❤️
Belas falas do Joe sobre a tribo do meu País, parabéns brother! Extremamente Gentil! Sucesso!
What a pleasant and thoughtful person!
Gojira is too good for this world. We don’t deserve them as a whole. 🙏
Merci! Said I cant go to the shows in Holland this July, hopefully next time! :)
such a smart, respectful, presentable, kickass amzing person
Joe is using so much hand gestures while talking :) it made me think for a second that he's also answering to the sign language interpreter
:)
I dont like that he (and metal bands in general) has to make excuses for their music/metal for the dumb grammys crowd and interviewers to understand/accept them, eg "our music was extreme but we have mellowed down, metal music is more and more accepted", etc.
There is no excuse or bs going on with Gojira. They have their reasons as to why they didn't want to be so brutal for now
love he doesn't talk about stupid things like everyone else on this crap and actually uses this as a platform to talk about real stuff
I love Joe 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤 incredible human.
Who else comes to the Grammys and talk about this? Mad respect to him
Joe is such a nice and gracious guy. I don't care about the grammy's at all. In fact the core of message and information he was passing on juxtaposed by this "red carpet" event couldn't be more in conflict, and in its own way represents exactly what is destroying the Amazon rain forest.
This was beautiful
Gojira should have won this year. The message in Amazonia is so important. Grammy's are so biased
These women have no idea how to interact... Good thing Joe is handling the interview. Should have won. Yay he mentions Deftones!
Their tour with Deftones starts soon! Can't wait!
They did good letting him speak about what he wanted to say. Just because they aren't injecting themselves into the conversation at every opportunity doesn't mean they were bad.
So nice that they have a sign language translator for this. Props to her.
Its amazing how when you hear these guys music its so extreme and angry and you see him speak in an interview and he's just such a calm and chill dude
Best live band I've ever seen
what a nice guy!
Congrats Joe you are one of a kind
What a fkn gentleman! GOJIRA
What a gentleman!!
Thank you Joe!
I love this man
What a speech 💚
Bravo à Joe et vive Gojira !
Not every metal band gets baptised by an indigenous tribe in the amazon but i am really glad gojira is one of those bands. Rock on yellow flower
Grammys need to do more for Metal music. Gojira had one of the most brilliant albums.
Who gives a shit about Grammys. Gojira is an amazingly rich band in term of music and message. Love these guys, world needs more of Gojira
Saw them live in Seattle 4.16.22 and their music is amazing. I wish the notion of them being stoner metal didn’t make me stray from their music. There’s so much I missed out on prior to seeing them live with Deftones.
The contrast is so interesting! Conscious talk in an unconscious event!
My celebrity
Joe Duplantier and the entire band are gentlemen and good people. I love their music and I like it very heavy. Their early albums are fantastic but Fortitude is a beautiful album.
He's a great guy for sure
🔥🔥🔥
Il est bien mon Jo, il parle bien et fortitude cartonne, see ya at Paris bercy in 2023 🤟
If you are going to hellfest on june 19th they will be there which is where their European tour will start but they will play in 2023 across France
Grande Joe....grandi Gojira....
"aham", "hmm", "wow". Profound....
Well done Joe! A true activist! ✊
Brasil really loves you, Joe. Thank you Gojira for existing 💜 #ForaBolsonaro
***SPOTIFY PLAYS***
Gojira - Amazonia: 12 million plays
Dream Theater - The Alien: 2.5 million plays
The suits of this award show, just throw a dice and whatever side it lands on, gets the award.
Such a joke.
Clearly Gojira should have won it. Data from Spotify, UA-cam, even Shazams, show that Gojira is the superior band of the entire category that is 'Best Metal Performance'. But no. We can't have those that fight for the survival of the planet and innocent people be the winners.
Get over yourselves, Recording Academy!
Dream Theater deserved it just as much stfu
Ikr. Idfk how the recording academy decides its winners. Clearly Gojira deserves the Grammy.
YES.
The Yellow flower duplantier really a good man.
The GOAT
Yknow the interviewers had allot of respect and time for joe…it must be refreshing to talk to someone at an event such as that with something more to say than your typical industry made star.
He dosent have to tow a line as much as more mainstream forms of entertainment so it makes it interesting when he could make his band infamous in the mainstream by saying something outrageous and ‘rock n roll’ yet instead choosing to treat these women with sincerity and conversations of compassion as opposed to the usual self aggrandising topic of conversation to be found at a red carpet event
Gojira Yes
Just recently discovered GOJIRA because of my boyfriend. 🖤🖤🖤✨✨✨ I've been so impressed by their musicality so far.
Joe🤘
Bravo Joe !!!!
BRAAAAAAAASILLLLL
Le Grammy fut pour DT mais j'espère fortement que vous aurez le prochain, vous le méritez grandement (je le souhaite également à Deftones un jour)
I'm just gonna guess this was the best interview that these two did all day.
