@Ivory_ Lagiacrus_YT That's still not exactly new is it. Look, my point is that if you really want to hype up the 'new generation' of metal bands you're going to have to find bands that formed/found their sound in the 2010s, calling anything before that 'new' is like calling metalcore or nu metal 'new'.
@Ivory_ Lagiacrus_YT 'Real' doesn't mean first. Honestly I don't even understand why we're arguing about this. Ig my reasoning is that you and many others are basically turning a blind eye to a certain era, acting like a relatively old band like Gojira is the next big thing and blinding yourself to the fact that this genre needs an actual future. I'm certainly reading more into everything than there actually is lol, but probably because this is something i have become frustrated with recently in the metal community. Sorry for the overreaction, hope you have a good rest of your day lol.

Go vegan but vegetarian is a good starting point and really easy to do, especially with all the new meat alternatives. I was vegetarian for nearly 2 years before I went vegan. Just like anything else, after a little research and adjustment period, it’ll be no big deal after a few weeks.
It's always crazy to see an interview where a frontman for a metal band is so chill and normal when days before, they were on stage, 25 feet from you, playing some of the heaviest live music you've ever seen 🤘🏻
I'm so happy I found Gojira. Great music with great people behind it. Wish I could've seen them last summer... hopefully I'll get that chance again someday.

Gojira is one of the bands I am always excited to see perform. They're at every rock festival and always do some of the best performances. It's almost offensive that they're never the headliners, but I rest easy knowing that are always the "big" band that starts closing out the shows
I really hope that they are able to tour because hearing them would be so amazing after everything that has happened because they’re just so amazing and inspiring

two of my favorite bands in the world!!! love the Deftones and Gojira sooo much!!! that last time i had seen both was Dia De Los Detones 2019... great times... i miss concerts
it's not the first time they doing it actually, from terra inc, the links and from their older album, they recycle a tons of riffs. for example, the breakdown in "embrace the world" is somewhat similar to the main riff of "flying whales". the main riff from "the art of dying" is also similar to the breakdown on "L'Enfant sauvage" the gallops triplets riffs on "lizard skin", is also being recycled in "space time"... the chorus riffs on "toxic garbage island" is also similar to the riffs on "the gift of guilt" which is just 0-3-5 in drop C 🤣 but yeah, they still kick ass tho, considering they've been playing in 2 same tuning for the last 20 years.
GOJIRA are the band that everyone should know. Great passion, talent, and they care about what is happening in their time, and everyone else, on the planet.
I never thought i would fall in love with gojira.i heard bout them years back but never paid any attention.now they are my favourite and we are covering stranded in few weeks time. Also Joe and mario, the coolest, talented ,laid back ,humble brother duo.
Joe inspired me to try going completely vegan once again. I have been having a hard time gaining weight while eating nothing but plants and vegetables, but I looked up some fast ways to gain weight while eating vegan.
If you are looking to make the change there are a lot of vegan creators on UA-cam that talk about taking the first steps towards a vegan lifestyle. Good luck!
Yea a little bit of the same for me. I think because he wasn’t trying to convert anyone. He was just speaking passionately about it but in a nice controlled manor since he was asked the question unlike a lot of vegans who just force their opinion on you and make you feel like shit for eating meat and calling u nasty names and being extremely rude about it. A lot of those people exist but they’re not gonna convert anyone that way. Joe wasn’t even trying to convert anyone but got at least u and me at least thinking about it. I’ve never even really thought about it until now because I was told about it in a nice way from someone I respect. Also he’s an idol of mine so there’s a little bias there but still 😂

I’ve heard many many many rude things and have had meat thrown at me and other shit. These days listening to their new music I feel the power running through me lol
Gojira and Propagandhi are bands that I discovered not so recently but they impacted my life so strongly.
You people are making a good job making us reflect on every single point of our life on this planet and trying to be our best version. Thanks.
And the best part is headbanging not just with our heads, but with our hearts too, that made me think that their music has a sacred place in my life xD
Oh yes! Two of my favorites and Propagandhi never get the recognition they deserve. Victory Lap was such an amazing album! I love the honesty and passion of both bands! Go vegan!
Gojira and Propagandhi are 2 of my top 3 favorite bands, so I'm super tickled by your comment! Fantastic bands and fantastic/wholesome/humble musicians. ❤
I have been considering becoming at least a Vegetarian for a long time now. Thanks for more motivation Joe. The new song is so badass as well. Can't wait for the new album.
Check out Dominion, dairy cows and egg laying hens still suffer and die early when their production slows down :) go vegan
Go vegan but vegetarian is a good starting point and really easy to do, especially with all the new meat alternatives. I was vegetarian for nearly 2 years before I went vegan. Just like anything else, after a little research and adjustment period, it’ll be no big deal after a few weeks.
@@BigKeith805 I know. I hate myself sometimes. THanks for reply.
@@bw1955 You are so kind for the information. Peace.
It's always crazy to see an interview where a frontman for a metal band is so chill and normal when days before, they were on stage, 25 feet from you, playing some of the heaviest live music you've ever seen 🤘🏻
Gojira has one of the most dedicated fanbases in the world tbh
Gojira is just built different
I'm so happy I found Gojira. Great music with great people behind it. Wish I could've seen them last summer... hopefully I'll get that chance again someday.
Those brothers are a blessing. Joe and Mario are amongst the best talents that have added a lot to the Metal scene. So talented yet so down to earth. Rock on Gojira, we cannot wait to listen to the new album 🤘🍻
Gojira does not consist only of Duplantiers
Joe, Mario, Christian, Jean, their crew and tour manager are all fantastic humans! Proud to be a fan and friend.
I don't know why these two are the only one's always pointed out as great. The other two members do exist and are a huge part of Gojira and are also great guys.
Gojira is one of the bands I am always excited to see perform. They're at every rock festival and always do some of the best performances. It's almost offensive that they're never the headliners, but I rest easy knowing that are always the "big" band that starts closing out the shows
I loved this enterview ! Interesting questions and Joe's smile made my day :)
Gojira is my current favourite band. They are just so talented and have an actual important message in their songs.
Joe makes a very powerful argument for veganism. I'm moved by his passion.
from Death Metal to shape of their own style, Joe and Mario are one of the best 🔥

gojira is the reason ive been switching over to a vegan/vegetarian diet
"I feel like an alien sometimes."
Relatable.
Also, Gojira is awesome.
That harmonic breakdown is the most heavy and creative thing I've heard in years. Gojira evolves every album, getting better and better.
vegan metal musicians teammmm ^_^
So glad to hear these words from you Joe
J'espère te rencontrer un jour et avoir l'occasion de discuter ensemble de ces choses là et d'autres. Tu as grandi en écoutant Metallica : j'ai grandi en écoutant The Link en boucle ! Ma musique est tellement influencée par vous quatre
This band has inspired me so much creatively an has motivated me to do better with my life. They helped reignite the spark of excitement and happiness in my soul that had been lost for a long time.
I was a vegetarian and vegan over many years and I'm still young, and he's reminding me of exactly why it grossed me out for so long
Therapis: Joe with a man bun is not real he can't hurt you.
Joe with a manbun:
two of my favorite bands in the world!!! love the Deftones and Gojira sooo much!!! that last time i had seen both was Dia De Los Detones 2019... great times... i miss concerts
They're playing again this year! I'll be seeing them in Sept in LA
@@thenumberonebeaner2211 yes, i’ll see you there!!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
These guys continuesly make awesome music and it speaks to everyone. They inspire me to keep playing the drums and music
Thanks for upload this. The fans we apreciate it 😍🌋
12:01 That is some deep psychoanalysis, Joe.
I never thought of it like that.. 🤯
Gojira is so ecological that they even recycle their own riffs from the previous album to the new one.
🤣 I am crying.
Yeah and this time it may be more apparent. Not exactly blown away by “Born...” They still are the greatest modern metal band though...
it's not the first time they doing it actually, from terra inc, the links and from their older album, they recycle a tons of riffs. for example, the breakdown in "embrace the world" is somewhat similar to the main riff of "flying whales".
the main riff from "the art of dying" is also similar to the breakdown on "L'Enfant sauvage"
the gallops triplets riffs on "lizard skin", is also being recycled in "space time"...
the chorus riffs on "toxic garbage island" is also similar to the riffs on "the gift of guilt" which is just 0-3-5 in drop C 🤣
but yeah, they still kick ass tho, considering they've been playing in 2 same tuning for the last 20 years.
@@seasicksailor8845 It's a joke based on what Joe said on the interview bro...
@@DevanArya yeea yeaa, i know it was a joke, I'm just explaining all that stuff incase someone wanted to know. lmao. we're all cool now?
God , need my dose of Gojira !! Can't wait to go and see them on their next tour . Best live band i've ever experienced !
Joe is a legend!!! He is so calm yet when on stage a monster as per his band name...Great interview!!
12:06 Joe is totally right here and I believe every musician should think of their songs that way
I’ve genuinely been more hyped for this new album than i remember being for any other
GOJIRA are the band that everyone should know. Great passion, talent, and they care about what is happening in their time, and everyone else, on the planet.
That is a pretty amazing interview. Tbh all the important questions asked and more for insight and interesting
The world deserves more people like Joe Duplantier
Such a conscious human being. Inspiring
Ryan Humiston is a pretty big vegan dude if you ask me
Damn I think ima go vegan to lose weight
I came in here for Gojira and left with maybe being a vegan.
Also he’s an idol of mine so there’s a little bias there but still 😂
@@tjthemute for real, the last week I've been scrambling eggs and have been noting the embryo and gag a little :(
@@Budood1 the same thing was happening to me before I went vegan, except with foods like chicken wings. I couldn't get by the fact that I was putting another creatures bones in my mouth and ripping the flesh off. It just really started to gross me out.
@@skullcandy5411 as a vegan, I think the opposite of what you are saying is usually true. Lots of people- I would say a majority- hate vegans and already have a bias against us. Just re-read your post lol. I don’t go out of my way to say I’m vegan but if I get offered food or small talk, it usually comes up because harming animals is such a huge part of human existence. If asked why I’m vegan, I think most vegans explain it like Joe does but people get offended probably because they have a guilty conscience and don’t like our answers lol. I’ve heard many many many rude things and have had meat thrown at me and other shit. I’m glad people like Joe who have a big platform can have the ability to influence people who otherwise wouldn’t listen.
I absolutely love Gojira. Seriously they amaze me and I always find a deep attachment to the music they create.
Born for One Thing is going to be an amazing opener. Imagine the pits slowly opening up as tat intro is playing, only to then explode when the verse kicks in. Cant wait for gigs to come back, its going to be so cathartic!
Joe seems like such a cool down to earth guy. Love Gojira's music, love their message, and I love what I see outside of their music too.
Wow, the part where he talks about absent musical elements still being played out in the audiences mind totally blew mine. Such an inspirational group, both in content and execution.

My favorite band, their music is just so perfect for my soul. If you ever get a chance to see them live go. You will be amazed.
Interestingly, it was their cover of "Escape" that led me to listen to "From Mars To Sirius." I've been a fan since then.
He's so laid back, I love it! Great interview!
I freaking love Joe and Mario , Gojira is one of the best bands out there currently and I love that they are so humble! I can't wait for the new album!
Joe, and the rest of Gojira, is such a beautiful and inspiring human. They are my favorite for a reason!
The "meeting my wife thanks to my metal gods" story was awesome and put a huge smile on my face the whole time.

Such an great interview, perfectly prepared:)
Also Joe is such an awesome guy, really inspiring to me
This gentleman is probably one of the most humble hard rock musicians I have ever heard speak. As well, being Vegan (I am one) is proven over and over to be WAY healthier than eating meat and dairy. I am surprised he didn't mention that as an added benefit of that lifestyle.
I also eat cactus
Amazing interview. Gave me a new understanding of the minds behind the music. Can't wait til April 30th
Him looking at the camera and not the road, gave me way too much anxiety
This band is unbelievably underrated.
No they are not.
On the other hand. Posting comments like ‘this and that band is underrated’ is overused and overrated.
There's always gotta be that douche comment. They actually are underrated. Sure they have a dedicated fan base and are a fairly large band, but with as talented these guys in both the studio and Live, along with being amazing dude's, they should be on the level of Metallica, etc. I didn't even know about them until around 3 years ago when I stumbled across a live version of "The Art of Dying" Live in '09.
Fuck yeah! GOJIRA!!!! Cannot wait for new music
She is a good interviewer and seemed to really think about the questions
Merci Joe ! Merci pour ton franc parler et ta bonne humeur dans ce monde
