Sanna is so awesome and patient! That kind of video about the most determined artists would be interesting, Claudia Faniello would absolutely be included too! :)

1) Crimean occupation, 2) new band (and thus, a shift from old school jazz to electronic pop). Both happened at the beginning of 2014. Of course, things may not be that simple. In her earlier work, there are serious songs, too. For her, the Crimean occupation obviously was a shock that perhaps affected her mood in general, which is reflected in her work since that. As to music style, she had been introduced to electronic pop earlier, perhaps she wanted to experiment with that style, and took this into account when hiring new band members. Anyhow, she seems able to express any emotion a human being may have.
Thanks for this great video compilation. May I add a few more earlier entries by some ESC winners: 1969 Anni-Frid Lyngstad "Härlig är var jord" 4th place in the Swedish national selection Melodifestivalen (1974 winner as part of ABBA "Waterloo" (Sweden)) The two BOBBYSOCKS singers did not only represent Norway in 1971 (Hanne Krogh) and Sweden in 1982 (Elisabeth Andreasson as part of CHIPS) before winning the ESC 1985 for Norway (as shown in the video) but each of them participated two more times in national preselections: Hanne Krogh 1972 in the Norwegian Melodi Grand Prix with "Smating": Although this song won the competition, Grethe Kausland and Benny Borg were chosen instead of Krogh to perform the song in Edinburgh. Hanne Krogh 1979 in the Norwegian Melodi Grand Prix with "Nar vi er barn", finishing 8th out of 8 Elisabeth Andreasson 1981 in the Swedish Melodifestivalen as a member of Sweets ´n Chips with "God morgon", finishing 2nd Elisabeth Andreasson 1984 in the Swedish Melodifestivalen with "Kärleksmagi" (eliminated in the first round) Johnny Logan came 3rd with "Angie" in the Irish National Final 1979, one year before winning the ESC for the first time. Charlie McGettigan also came 3rd in the Irish National Final - in 1987 with "Are you shy?", seven years before winning the ESC together with Paul Harrington ("Rock´n roll kids")
Måns Zelmerlöw has tried 3 times and the third time he won. In the Netherlands we have a saying: driemaal is scheepsrecht. Which means something like: the third time it will certainly work/happen. Well, in his case for sure!

Bilan shouldn't have won in 2008. In any year, but prior 2013 and not 2008. Russia invaded Georgia in 2008, yet people gave a victory to Russia in same year!
Wow, Linda Martin never gave up lol
Such a well-earned victory in that sense! :D

Her winning song's name was just the expression of her feeling After all her attemps xD
and then her determination is finally rewarded, and everyone ignores her in favour of her songwriter
So are Olsen Brothers
the audio for Israel 1995 sums up my life
ouch
Rip headphone users
Whenever somebody who placed 2nd before in your national selection ends up representing your country a few years later you KNOW they’re gonna win
Jamala's "Smile" is just EPIC
She sounds like a screaming kitten :P Ukrainian REAL Eurovision entries are WAAAAY better than that!
And better than 1944
@@ShurikKaoru cannot agree more.

Amazing research.!!
The "pres"...such sweet Eurovision Network convention memories...thanks for the "posts" too!!
Good job! I like this video!
What happened between 2011 and 2016 that made Jamala "1944 Jamala?"
That contrast surprised me too!

Wow, thank you a lot for these facts new to me! 🤩
8:38 my ears
13:14 she then won again in 2023 for her song *Tattoo* , she tried to compete in 2017 but lost to Robert Bengsston
6:48 she would have latter competed for Sweden in 2006 for her song *Invincible* which went in 5th place
It’s great to see them young and then older with this video and the comeback one
@Dollyzsafeplace yes 1992 if it wasnt Niamh I’m talking about cuz she did
3:14 she nearly competed for the third time in the 2006 contest for Germany
Co-Co were also in the UK's Eurovision selection show in 1976.
Thanks! Their song seems to be "Wake Up" (2nd place) by this website: natfinals.50webs.com/

In Finnish, we have the same as "kolmas kerta toden sanoo", meaning 'the third time tells the truth'. :)
In Serbian, we say "treća sreća" which means "third luck"
That actually means "you will succeed on the trird try"
We have a Russian equivalent too: Бог любит Троицу (God loves the Trinity) :P
Same in Spanish! "A la tercera va la vencida"
Good job
Fun fact:
Måns met his 2016 cohost Petra during that Melodifestivalen in 2009, which she hosted.
2008 do you mean?
@@lll.24601 2009. There's a video.

Charlie McGettigan tried to represent Ireland in 1984 and 1987
Dima Bilan was also in Russian national final 2005, as far as I remember
Wow, cool! Thanks for noticing, the song seems to be "Not That Simple" and it placed 2nd.
Conchita really lost to what got last, and the won esc 2 years later
Dima Bilan trying in 2005 with "not my soul"..
Sertab ❤️❤️
Carola won 1 place every attemps xD
Even though that was close with France
I think Dima Bilan also tried in 2004?
In 2005 he tried with "Not That Simple".
Do you wanna know why switzerland won 1956 and the others got unknown placings that for Ebu wanted it
Nah. The voting method was secret ballot, and the results were lost.
Ireland 1969 is better then 70

Well, the invasion itself was in August, after esc
Still same year. And Bilan is pro-Putin.
Jamala I love you but this song is scaring me and I do not want to smile :[
