Non Tesla Supercharging Adapter - Lectron NACS to CCS1 Adapter

- In this video we look at a non tesla supercharging adapter to charge our Rivian at a Tesla Supercharger. We accomplish this using the Lectron Vortex NACS to CCS1 adapter. We show you how to use the Lectron NACS to CCS1 adapter at a Tesla Supercharger to charge your non-Tesla EV. This will work with any vehicle supported under the NACS agreement. At the time of recording only Ford and Rivian are able to charge at Tesla Superchargers using the adapter but more OEMs will be added as time goes on. We test charging speed and even check the temperature of the device. At the end of the video are some bloopers.

A couple of notes. Per Lectron instructions you should plug the adapter into the vehicle first. Then plug the Nacs handle into the adapter. (I know these instructions are different from Tesla's instructions). Also you shouldn't have to depress the Nacs release to insert the Nacs connector. If you have to depress the release to insert the supercharger handle it's a sure sign that you have the defective (recalled) Lectron adapter. On the original defective adapter you could not insert the Nacs cable unless you depressed the release switch, but the cable could pull out without depressing the release switch. A very dangerous condition and just backwards from the correct operation.
HI, thanks for all your time do you know if this or any of those other adapters such as electron and A-to-Z will work on a 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQE I know Tesla supposedly opened up their chargers to Mercedes-Benz and Rivian or anybody else out there has experience with charging a Mercedes at a Tesla charger with the adapter please chime in thanks
Thanks! The Lectron and other adapters should work on any CCS1 EV provided that Tesla has enabled them on their back end systems. Currently they have only done with for Ford and Rivian vehicles.
Would this adapter work on a Subaru ev vehicle at the Tesla charging station?
Unfortunately No, the vehicle has to be enabled on the Tesla supercharger Network in order for it to work. Currently the only vehicles enabled to charge at Tesla supercharges are Ford and Rivian. Eventually at some point in the future it should open up to all electric vehicles.
Does your adapter latch securely on the NACS end? There are reports that some lectron adapters were delivered where the latch does not stop you from pulling it off even though the latch was not released. There is nothing but silence from lectron on this. A2Z seems to not have this issue. I wonder if this is the reason for my early February Vortex NACS to CCS1 adapter. order has not shipped yet. Nice job on your post.
It did have the problem. It has been returned to Lectron and they are replacing it. Lectron has advised it was a logistics issue and some early production adapters were sent to customers by mistake. Anyone who received a defective adapter should contact Lectron for a free replacement.
I got my Lectron adapter a couple of weeks ago and it has the faulty locking pin that locks the J3400 connector into the adapter. I contacted Lectron and spoke with CSR Veronica who apologized for the inconvenience then told me that they are aware of the issue of approximately 1624 preproduction adapters that were sent out to customers by accident. She sent me a prepaid return label, I sent my defective adapter back, and got my new one in less than a week.
I just traded my Model Y for a Rivian R1T. Will the Typhoon adapter work for charging with my Tesla wall connector, i.e. non-supercharging? Or do I need to get the other adapter for that?
Awesome congratulations! This adapter will only work for supercharging. To use your wall connector you will need a Tesla J-3400 to J-1772. There are a couple options on my website at www.electrifiedoutdoors.com/rivian-accessories

Currently BMW can only charge at Magic Dock locations. The NACS superchargers work only with Ford and Rivian currently. While the adapter would work with BMW its can't be charged at NACS locations per Tesla.
