Dolores Claiborne is my favourite because of its earthiness and perhaps also it's succinctness/brevity. Dolores flew off the page for me as an actual person and not just a character in a novel. I don't usually tackle really long books so that's why I have not attempted The Stand or IT. The other King books I have read I did not hate so I guess I don't have a worst one yet.
Fun type of review style. I’m on the same page with you about your TOPS. My friend Kelsi (Slime & Slashers) and I are doing a Year of King this year, reading a novel/short story each month and watching its screen adaptation(s). Then, each month we do a livestream on her channel to discuss them. It has been fun for me because I am revisiting stories I’ve read many years ago and discovering new ones that I never got around to reading. It’s been a fun project. We are reading Needful Things in October. Such an AWESOME book; I can’t wait to revisit. I love your videos in honor of Stephen King and his work. 📚
Here's my top ten 1. Dolores Claiborne 2. Billy summers 3. Wizard and glass 4. The wastelands 5. Needful things 6. Christine 7. The stand 8. Insomnia 9. The dead zone 10. The long walk
Oh wow I didn’t realize it was SK 75th birthday! Very cool video idea. I enjoyed hearing your ups and downs. I’ve only read Carrie and The Institute by SK by I have high ambitions to read lots more. Thanks for the fun video!
i agree with you about Christine it was a BORE FEST!! i think King has more misses than hits. only ones i really like by him are Needful Things, Salems Lot, Cujo, Carrie and Pet Semetary
I think Under the Dome would have worked better as a shorter book. I've always wanted to read Needful Things again. I'd like to mention a couple favs that people hardly mention: The Dark Tower series and Eyes of the Dragon.
it's interesting to see love for Lisey's Story, that one doesn't typically get much attention. My least favorites are Duma Key, Cell, Insomnia, Finders Keepers, and Wolves of the Calla. Most of them talk down to the reader and barely justify their existence, but Wolves of the Calla is one of the best stand-alone stories in the Dark Tower series....it's just where it conceptually jumped the shark. My favorites are 11/22/63, The Stand, Under the Dome, The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, Drawing of the Three, The Wastelands, Carrie, and Pet Sematary. I'm only about halfway through my complete rereads though.
I have several that are my top favorites. My favorites are 11/22/63, Needful Things, The Stand and It. The one I dislike the most are Under The Dome and Elevation.
I really love Needful Things. It’s just so bonkers! And Lisey’s Story so so good! I do like The Dead Zone though. Johnny is one of the saddest characters ever. My top fave King is The Shining and my least fave so far is Elevation and Firestarter. Great list!!
The theme of Needful Things is not so much consumerism as it is about human being’s toxic nature of revenge, pettiness etc. I haven’t yet read a bad King book, if only for the characters and their relationships as well as the faults and attributes of human nature. I normally don’t like supernatural movies or books or fantasy much, but when King does it, it seems more plausible somehow. I was pleasantly surprised by books like Christine, Firestarter, Bag of Bones, Revival, Tommyknockers, Desperation etc. All are at least 3.5 out of 5, but only a couple of 3.5. All are 4 and 5s.
Dead Zone is similar to 11/22/63 in some ways - without the love story. Politics is interesting, though he doesn’t delve into particulars much in either book.
Well. I guess the Dark Tower series is actually talked about a lot from fans so I take that back. I had a few glasses of wine when I wrote that lol. I still need to get to Desperation. Reading Duma Key right now.
New viewer here and glad I found you. I gravitate towards mysteries and thrillers. Yay, Stephen King! I really enjoyed this top/bottom version. I love The Stand, Misery, Bag of Bones, Hearts in Atlantis, 11/22/63, Under the Dome (the book not the show) Pet Semetary, & The Firestarter (sorry) among others. I don't love his really out-there horror types, so that eliminates many of them, lol. But thanks to you I am adding Dolores Claiborne to my tbr. I don't like The Tommyknockers, Needful Things, Cujo, Christine, to name a few. Thanks for a good one!
11/22/63 is one of my top two SK, along with The Stand. I agree with you about End of Watch. I DNF'd it. I was told I should read it before reading The Outsider, but I'll probably just read The Outsider anyway.
Yeah The Outsider does spoil the ending of End of Watch, but if you really don’t want to read it I say skip it and read The Outsider. That one was good!
i like this video a lot! ive only read 2 sk books but im excited to read more because he is really fun! also i think its criminal how low your view and subscriber count is😟
I haven't watched the vid yet. I had a friend years ago who loved S.K. and I read part of some book he had and was bored. I read a book of short stories and kind of liked it but not loved.
Aside from IT and the obvious choices, I LOVED The girl who loved Tom Gordon, Dolores, and also Different Seasons. I personally found Lisey’s story so annoying with all the pet names like baby-love, so overkill. Also didn’t care for Geralds game too much. I also loved his Non Fiction “on writing.” I’ve only read 19 so I have a ways to go!
Loved the video! I just finished Bag of Bones and halfway through I almost DNF but, I’m so glad I didn’t 🤯! The ending 😍! 4⭐️ book and not a 5⭐️ just because the first half was so slow
interesting take! I thought the first half was pretty good but the ending felt more gross on King's end than horrifying. It tends to be one of my first picks when discussing some of his more problematic writing.
My favorite Stephen King book is The Shining 💜. My least favorite is definitely The Gunslinger 😂 I hope nobody comes for me. I love the rest of the Dark Tower series though!!
I was appalled that you didn't like Firestarter or The Dead Zone - two books written at the peak of his powers. Written when he had honed his craft. These days his stuff is so bloated with superfluous crap. As much as I liked 11/22/63 it could have been cut by a third, whereas Lisey's Story could have been halved. I know King concentrates on characterisation these days, but there is no need to overwrite. I lament the days when his style was chiselled and precise.
Honestly, I have a really hard time understanding why you liked one book and not another. Christine really isn't about a haunted car, it's about friendship and your late teenage years as you're becoming an adult. Firestarter isn't really about psychic kids so much as it's about a single dad and his bond with his daughter. And I have to disagree that The Dead Zone is overtly political. King certainly has political views, I guess, but he doesn't really pay attention to public affairs for them to be substantive in any way. There are tons of legitimate critiques of Trump, for instance, but King never made one. His criticisms never had anything to do with policy, ideology, or anything else. They were just amounted to complaints about Trump's personality. The Dead Zone is no different. What makes that book good is that it's about losing everything but finding a purpose greater than yourself. It's not actually political at all. I mean, if you want to read fiction that is legitimately political to see the difference, read JG Ballard's sci fi stories in his anthology War Fever. Or read Iain Banks's non-sci fi stuff. Those writers are actually political. King has yet to write anything of substance about politics. I don't know. I don't get it. Whatever, I guess it's all subjective. You like what you like.
Carrie was my fav book by King...i felt for her and its one of my fav novels ever. the movie with Sissy Spacek was good as well. the other remakes like the 2002 and 2013 movies were terrible. the 2002 version followed the book more than Spaceks version and would of been better if they did not change the end and make her live and go away in secret...that angered me and ruined the whole movie. and the less said about "Rage Carrie 2" the better
I’ve only read a few of Stephen King’s books, but I’ve enjoyed the all. Dolores Claiborne sounds very promising.

My favorite by King is probably 11-22-63. But Misery and Pet Sematary are also up there. I am planning on starting his new one soon.
I also really enjoyed Misery and Pet Sematary!
Here's my top ten
1. Dolores Claiborne
2. Billy summers
3. Wizard and glass
4. The wastelands
5. Needful things
6. Christine
7. The stand
8. Insomnia
9. The dead zone

i agree with you about Christine it was a BORE FEST!! i think King has more misses than hits. only ones i really like by him are Needful Things, Salems Lot, Cujo, Carrie and Pet Semetary
The point of Carrie is portraying the grotesque reality of victimisation followed by revenge. It's not a happy topic.
It’s series September!? I didn’t even know and yet I started reading The Dark Tower just today! Thanks for letting me know. Great video.
Fav - Salems Lot
Least fav - Song Of Susanah
I think Under the Dome would have worked better as a shorter book. I've always wanted to read Needful Things again. I'd like to mention a couple favs that people hardly mention: The Dark Tower series and Eyes of the Dragon.
Enjoyed 11.22.63, have just added Needful Things to my TBR on your recommendation. Thanks!
Best 2 in my opinion are Needful Things and The dark Half..worst 2 are Carrie and Firestarter..

Elevation was just ok and one I probably won’t reread :/
I’ve only read misery but will definitely check out more of his work thanks

Needful Things and Under The Dome are my favourite SK books.
Here's my bottom list
Drawing of three
Gerald's game
The girl who loved tom Gordon
Lisey story
Through the keyhole
End of watch
Dead Zone is similar to 11/22/63 in some ways - without the love story. Politics is interesting, though he doesn’t delve into particulars much in either book.
Thank you for saying Christine is just plain silly! I wish it was a more popular opinion 😅😡
I really love The Green Mile.
Misery and The Green Mile.
11/22/63 is my fav King and Carrie is one of my least! the rest you mentioned I have yet to read
What about Fairy Tale or The Talisman?
Well. I guess the Dark Tower series is actually talked about a lot from fans so I take that back. I had a few glasses of wine when I wrote that lol. I still need to get to Desperation. Reading Duma Key right now.

Favorite: The Stand, Least Favorite: The Tommyknockers
Not a SK fan but like your videos! I wonder where Kujo falls with you. That movie scared the daylights out of me and I was an adult.
Cujo was good! The ending made me mad though. They changed it for the movie is all I’ll say to prevent spoilers lol
My favorite Stephen King book is The Shining 💜. My least favorite is definitely The Gunslinger 😂 I hope nobody comes for me. I love the rest of the Dark Tower series though!!
I’m not a big fan of The Gunslinger either lol! But it’s necessary if you’re going to read The Dark Tower, and the rest of the books are way better!
I take it you have a thing against psychic powers? lol (in Firestarter it's called pyrokinesis)
That must be it lol
Now I watched the vid. Synopsis of S.K. book .
It is written by a writer who has no life so he wrote this 400 page book about being a writer.
Hello
Some of his books have too much swearing. There I said it. The profanity has no nobility that's why I'm enjoying Eyes of the Dragon.
I was appalled that you didn't like Firestarter or The Dead Zone - two books written at the peak of his powers. Written when he had honed his craft. I agree that his books do tend to be bloated. Sometimes I like it and sometimes I don’t :)
Oh yeah..my least favorite would probably have to be Carrie. Loved the movie but the book👎🏻.
No love for Dark Tower?
I do love The Dark Tower! The Waste Lands almost made the list :)
lol, Carrie bottom read, it's about child abuse and bullying, people who are bullied tend not to be liked; you must be with the bullies then.
dont worry i showed those bullies not to screw around again
