  • I was looking for a clothing rack that could easily display my favorite clothing items, but I needed it to be on a budget, because let's face it, christmas time! I looked online and found some for about $14, but they didn't have decent reviews sooo after seeing a few pictures I thought, hmmm, I could probably make that myself. I did the math and it turns out if I DIY it myself it would be about the same, plus I love projects haha. So off to HomeDepot we went.

    The following are the measurements I used: Remember, YOU CAN CUT your pipe at HomeDepot, the pipe tools are for customer use.
    -You will need 206 inches or 17.1 ft, which is about two of the 10 ft 3/4 PVC pipes. Each priced at $2.57 for a total of $5.14
    - Spray paint color of your choice, if you decide to spray paint.
    - Cut four 8 inch pipes for the base.
    - Cut two 6 inch pipes for the sides.
    - Cut two 31 inch pipes, one where the clothes will hang and the other to go at the bottom for additional support.
    - Cut two 50 inch pipes for the sides.
    -You will need 4 tee connectors: each $0.85 or $3.40 for all.
    -You will need 2 elbow connectors: each $0.59 or $1.18 for both.
    -You will need 4 base caps: each $0.57 or $2.28 for all.
    The grand total for this project was an even $12!!! Wahhhhht!
    Update: Anthony has stolen my clothing rack and I now need to make another one for myself.

    • @maynunez
      @maynunez  4 роки тому +27

      That’s actually a very good question! They have measuring tapes and that specific pvc pipe cutter right next to the pvc section, they should be towards the bottom or middle part of where the pipes are leaning on the shelf! Hope that helps, if not just ask the employees, it’s pretty common to have them for customer use! I also built a dog bed in the store 😂. My specific HD also has a hand saw station available, for small cuts of course.

      I'm considering building this to help show clothes for a garage sale, but I have a ton of clothes. I think the PVC may be strong enough, but it is likely to tip due to the weight being top loaded. I'm trying to come up with a way to modify the base with extra weight like landscaping bricks, not so pretty, but I think it will work for my purposes.

      You can buy them at the dollar store or Walmart! I usually buy faux leather jackets from H&M. Zara has some really good ones too, they’re just a little expensive!😊

      You could probably add a piece of wood dowel inside the top bar to increase the strength so it won't sag in the middle. And add weight to the feet like sand inside them or something.

    • @maynunez
      @maynunez  4 роки тому +4

      Just keep track of how many you have and let them know at checkout! The pipes have only one bar code which means all the other pieces won’t have it thus the bar code will show how many full pieces there are. Hope that helps!😊

      You should try it out! Fairly inexpensive. Well I used a medium thickness pvc pipe because I only needed it for shirts. However, if you want to hang heavier items I’d suggest getting more heavy duty thicker pvc pipe!
