The piriformis muscle is a small, yet mighty muscle tucked away deep in your buttock. Running from the base of your spine and attaching to the outer thigh bone (femur), it's a key player in your mobility.
But here's the deal: sometimes, the sciatic nerve, your body's longest nerve, can get a little too close for comfort to the piriformis muscle. When that happens, it can be a real pain... literally! 🙅♂️
Typical Piriformis Syndrome causes and risk factors include:
🔸️Sitting for long periods of time
🔸️Lifting heavy objects and/or weightlifting
