I used to dream of owning a knuckle head. I hit the swap meets back in the 80's and got the wishbone hardtail frame, hinged rear fender, pogo stick and seat and that was as far as I got. Wound up riding a shovel head and later on a softail. Had some great times riding from state to state with the fellas...real fun times.
Yeah I had no idea what that was about TBH. Just thought it was sort of kill switch and I saw that it was grounded to the tank. Don't know much about points other than I think there is a magnet in there or something.
@@Whitejesselink The plugs are fired by the magneto which has magnet's in it that fires the sparkplugs on this bike. The points are what are in an old school distributor like you would have in a car to fire the sparkplugs. It rotates sending the spark to one plug at a time.
@@rickdaystar477 and you dont need a battery to run the bike if it's also kick start I believe. Would be cool. My bike is from 2005 or something though unfortunately.
@@Whitejesselink The first bike I got was a 1965 Sportster back in the 70's and it had a magneto and it always had a hot spark and fired up first couple of kicks.
Was always a crotch rocket guy, only Harley I ever rode was a '74 super glide, shovelhead motor if I'm not mistaken. It was a two wheeled tractor. However, I would love to ride this, great job man, great job! Unrelated but my friend didn't tell me the front brakes were bad until after I whacked the throttle open and figured it out on my own...
Beautiful bike, my dad had 1 here in the Philippines, i use to drivr it to school, even had a suicide shift and i was only 14 years old. Love that bike
In my world that's perfection, I have a 58 pan in a 53 frame, now ino which direction I'm going in. Ino why the 53 frame, well in the late 60s that's how my dad made it, were the original frame is, nobody will ever know

"Iron American Dream" on UA-cam. Beautiful in it's archaic execution. Perfection, and imperfection, manifested side by side, absence, and presence, danger and excitement, beauty, and adventure, Harley-Davidson.
Unpadded saddles, great idea until you’re 60 miles up the road and your ass actually dies, it’s last words being a faint cry of “Would an inch of padding be too much for your image?!?!”
Used to see some knucks back in 80s & 90s, now pans are as rare and the only knucks I see now, are on you tube. Much appreciation for old skool .
A glorious old girl... and still sings like an angel !
Beautiful machine !!!

In the mid 60s my older brother brought home a '47 knucklehead. It will always be my favorite.
Awesome finish to the video. How many don't know he's using a set of points for his kill switch? A whole generation has never seen them.

@@rickdaystar477 nice. I'm going to try and hand on to my Kawasaki so in 60 years it'll be really classic.

Can't imagine being use to sport bike where the front breaks actually do something. Must of been funny.
