I’m pretty sure if an eight wheeled skidded is having trouble going up it, we can call it a hill. It doesn’t have to be a mountain to be steep. Love the videos.
Hi Thomas!!😀😀 I do believe you are right. The extra power really makes a difference!!😀👍👍 It sucks that you guys can't make logs out of any of them. I've cut a lot of tornadoe damaged timber over the years a have had the same problem with the logs. Take care my friend!! Logger Al
Awesome video. Great video. It sure was well worth it to upgrade the 620. Proof is in the pudding right there. Might have to do a little fine tweaking here and there on the 748L2? I think Mickey wasn't woke up yet when he was loading puppy up. I still don't see how Mickey can be on the loader all day long every day. If it was me I would get out of the loader and get on the skidder for a few minutes in between trucks just to break up the monotony a little bit providing the pile had enough ready to load the trucks up. Can't wait to see the skidders side by side on the upcoming video. That will be an awesome video for sure. That hill you parked the track cutter on should be high enough for this hurricane. Love that office view. Nothing can beat that. Peason Ridge has some decent hills on it. I wonder what Michael was saying on the radio to Matthew when he made it up the hill without any problems. I think Matthew had more speed built up than Michael did but we shall see soon. Wow on those pine logs at the end of the video. Glad no one got hurt at the sawmill.
JD's drag was the first drag. so it was slippery from all sap & leaf juice . Once u get dirt pulled up over brush & so on it get alot easier to get traction. Ur test for next Comparison will be interesting!
Another great video Thomas and the only thing I’m gonna say about the two skidders is that the tiger cat has a longer wheelbase than a John Deere that’s why it will go up and down the hills better than a John Deere I never understood that about John Deere wow they make their scooters with such short wheelbase is better anyway y’all stay safe with this hurricane coming toward y’all again and I just pray for everyone over in that area that God will protect y’all and see y’all through this
Never had any experience in a jd or a tiger cat but did help my pops back in the day working on old timber Jack's I remember the old 660 we're the top of the line back in the day now you don't see them any more
I appreciate the flags on the equipment I salute ya's. I work at a sawmill here in NC myself.. born and raised in the woods.. that's where they will bury me..
Proof is in the tigercat!!!! Drop the 🎤!!!! Tigercats hydrostatic transmission is amazing!!! You can always find the sweet spot to make them pull!!!! #goyelloworgohome 😂😂😂 great video
Dang pup what a dirty ride you are driving. On then skidder wars. That’s like comparing my favorite welding machine a Miller blue to a Lincoln red. 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Thomas Johnson gotcha! I thought that is what you said was done to it. Guess that is what I get when all the kids are running around and I’m trying to watch your videos.
With all the rain you’ve had and the mud and dirt he drives on, that red truck needs a bath. Won’t last long but it will pimp it out for a little while.
Good test Tigercat always beats deere on them steep hills. We done this same thing with a 748l and a 620e in sand pine a few years back. Same results lol
Come on up to Wilkes, Ashe, Watauga, Avery County areas of NC then we can talk steep.... Leave the grapples at home when you do and bring some saws and cable skidders... I could only dream of working your terrain...lol
What makes y’all wanna come on here and have a Dick measuring contest over ground? Like watch the video, enjoy the content, leave a positive comment and have a good day. @@CuttingEdgeLogging_Thomas That was in jest hince the lol on the end. Wasn't trying to start a pissing contest. Guess I should have been more clear. I don't have the equipment to do what you do and you probably don't have the equipment to do what I do. Loggers are specialized to their regions. Really I was just complaining about my own work I have to do. Would love to use bunchers and grapples full time but don't get to do it much , sorry it didn't come across that way. Im no troll I promise.
Wind shake. Separations on the growth ring. Dangerous on guys dropping with chain saws also. Wind damage is costly. I've heard them popping like rifle shot in 20 brlpe zero weather. Frosrm and wind bending them. Locust trees so it real bad.
From experience. That tiger kitty will eat that Deere for breakfast. I live in the West Virginia mountains. Deere won’t pull half what our tiger kittys pull. . We have 3 kitty’s, and 2 Deere’s. The Deere’s dream about growing up to be a kitty!
It’s not the skidder it’s the duel tires they don’t have enough ground pressure to get good traction on hills but that’s the point in duels to reduce ground pressure so you can stay on top of the wet ground.
Steep ground.....come to central Virginia up against the blue ridge...I'll show you steep...I fluid fill my front skidder tires to drag up mountains all the time..lollll....
Terrry Burgett doesn’t matter who’s been making it the longest , it’s who makes the better all around pieces of equipment. For a dip shit like you, that means a piece of equipment that can do the job day in and day out with the least amount of repairs, for the longest number of years.
Terrry Burgett you like calling people dumb ass, from where I’m from it takes one to know one, dumb ass. You don’t even know that tigercat don’t you Cummins anymore. And I’ve been in the woods all my life to and been a forestry equipment mechanic since 1997. I have worked on it all and I like working on the best. By the way old John Deere and cats lasted as long as tigercat do, I can name plenty of tigercat machines with 30,000 hours on them still running. No matter what I say you’ll still just call me a dumb ass and why don’t you call and try to sell a used L series Deere and an E series tigercat skidder to a used equipment dealer and see which one he would buy first.
Terrry Burgett just checked video is still there on you tube , it’s call 25 a film by tigercat. And it was the very first machine they ever made and the man stopped using it, tigercat wanted to redo it because it was the first machine, if John Deere could find the first machine they ever made they would do the same thing.
Terrry Burgett last thing I’m going to say. We have I lot of companies in our area that is tigercat only and the one that run Deere say it’s because they can get financing easy. Cotton top 3 also says that the 635 is a beast. And if you’ve worked of Deere for 12 years then your (33) year old skidder can’t be pulling wood every day, I have no more time to waste on dip shits ✌️

Yeah puppy's truck is a little dirty you should get some tire spray for him so when he washes it he can pimp it out! Lol. 👍
As far as N.C. Mountains grade goes this is pie. I’ve never had any problem from John Deere.
Same here in VA mountains we ran 540 and 640 Deere's D model's never had any problems good dependable skidders.
Awesome videos
Do they “nuke” the bushes before they replant?Great video. Prayers to you and yours.
I think the feed them some kinda super fertilizer and they get worse after the next growth 😂
How come you guys don't run tire chains?
Big hill lol. Come to North Western North Carolina and we can show you some hills.
Oh boy....
You want hills and steep country? Come out to the PNW. (pacific northwest)
I just got done cutting a track with a 20 - 25 degree slope. Running a 748L2 and a 748h the h model pulled the hill better than the new L2

We didn’t upgrade the turbo, and we can’t adjust the Deere for warranty reasons

Puppy your truck is way to dirty. I would like to see it cleaned up. By the way no paycheck this week unless it is nice and squeaky clean.
Why is there two size tires on the machines
To keep the size of the machine down for when we have to thin

It’s not the skidder it’s the duel tires they don’t have enough ground pressure to get good traction on hills but that’s the point in duels to reduce ground pressure so you can stay on top of the wet ground.
Our duals only touch when the machine sinks down...so it’s basically like no duals unless it’s wet

Pups truck looking a little dirty
Tigercat will pull ya guts out!!
That’s right
And John deere is no match
If we are talking best setting and traction of grapple skidder for steep then neither one compare to Cat.
Cat 🤮
We've got a couple 648's that I USED TO love.... they put me on our old 525 CAT bout 3 months ago and I absolutely love it, it's a TANK
Cats garbage in comparison to tigercat not much can out pull the 630 and nothing will out pull the 635

Damn here in the mountains of North Carolina we load the front tires down with fluid and chains 640g
Annnnnnd you win the “that’s not a hill” comment award 😂
It was funny we put a timber Jack's up against a cat the cat would out push the jack but the jack would out pull the cat
We go up steeper hills then that with a 648 John deer! That’s not what we call a hill!
Would you like a cookie?
@@CuttingEdgeLogging_Thomas I was not trying to be rude! Was just letting you know that that’s not a challenging hill!!

Gone with the John Deere he needs to clean that truck it’s nasty
Tiger cat all day John deer is good but tiger takes it .
Trail was used and beat down, had better traction for the tigercat. Deere was on slippery crap.
Tiger cat for life
I think the Tigercat had a tad more good not the hill test
Tell puppy to wash that truck before he comes back to work.....
Chain them tires with them tracked chains....you'll be shittin n gittin... ask me how I know...also counterweights
tie a tree to the tire for traction 3 1ft pieces on each tire... it will climb anything
Painful to watch these guys go lol holy cow man
Your comment is painful to read
Lose the duals and put ring chains all around =unstoppable 748
Not in our application, entirely too much sand for tire chains to work.
clean that dirty truck lol

John deer is better then tiger cat tiger cat is a piece of junk
