Type R isn't listed in the insurance as a "Type R" it's just a Honda Civic. Mine is 107 per month in NYC. I have a 2013 SI as well which costs twice as much to insure.
Im in NJ right by NYC, just bought a 2020 civic si and Im paying the same as the type R would have been on insurance. The '13 SI doesnt have the safety features like the new ones do so thats probably why its so much for the insurance
@@michaeljosephs6439 Naww I have a 2019 Type R, safety features wise, it isn't much of a step up from the SI. It's just the Type R is insured as a base Civic Hatchback and the SI actually has its own Civic SI category. My guess is there will be a Type R category in the insurance systems sooner or later and I'll have to chop up another $100 a month or so.
Zefoo I’m saying the 2020 type r and si. The both now have the front collision assist, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control now standard which the 2019 does not on either model. At least my insurance company said that’s why the 2020 is cheaper than the 2019 I was originally going to get

Just took my 2017 Type R to the track for the FIRST time, 3 years after owning. What took me so long?!! This car is ok fun on the streets but incredible on the track. Curvy roads bring out the best in this car.

Thanks! Since you brought that up, I do remember the first couple times I saw comments like that. At first, I thought hm, well I guess I shouldn’t get rid of the car, but my mindset has changed. That would not be a healthy mindset if I thought that I had to keep a car to retain certain viewers. It was only a few people, anyway. They can go watch someone else if they want, but I’m going to be moving on soon
Beautiful car. Love rallye red, naturally because I have a red Si, but if I got a Type R, I’d probably go Sonic Gray if I could. Love the contrast of red and gray. Can’t wait to see how close you stay in your FBO Si! I agree, it will probably be (somewhat) close. Man, I really want a hatch now too.
Cameron you need come off the fence and jump into a Type R today! Sell the Si and get one. I finally did and it's ETA to me is about 2 days. It's probably halfway through Colorado right now. Got it at MSRP and just paid for transport fees. No way I'm giving away hard-earned cash to our greedy CA dealers. Mine is a SGP color. 😁
Cameron the type r doesn’t have the traditional vtec the older k series and b series did. It doesn’t need it. It uses it briefly until the turbo kicks on and that’s it. It’s negligible to the point where you wouldn’t feel it.
It will be interesting to see if there is an actual difference between the phearable and tsp tune. As you know I have the tsp and it may be just me but I think it has more power on the second setting. I feel like I actually lose power on the third setting, weird right?! Anyway, excited for the the motor vehicle contest
Be honest Cameron was it that great?! I mean of course it was but was the car really worth all that money for daily driving? I have a 17 focus ST and it’s by no means a type r but for 20k, a custom exhaust and a tune it’s more than enough fun for me and I’m out the door for 24k basically new. Great channel. I don’t own a civic and I watch your videos religiously!
Ok. Change of heart. I WANT THAT FU*KING RED BRO!!!!! Holy fu*k, I'm in love. DAMN you for posting this $hit!! I need time to enjoy my Si before I can start looking for a Type R!! HA!!!
great video on the type r. I definitely feel my type r slow down with a passenger and high temps. Also you need to really push these cars to wring out the performance. I get you didnt want to reck dudes car. Like most other cars you wont be able to push the car to the limits on the streets but I have hit some turns in mexico doing 120 and the car felt planted. cant wait for the race.
Type R’s are an insurance anomaly since they’re considered a hatchback. Most companies will quote them lower than a Si, makes no sense looking at value of car lol
Hay Cameron. Yeah, I have a 2018 civic si coupe in green. I've always wanted to drive a type r. Is the clutch heavier than our si's? Man, that thing is hot in Rally Red!👍
I drove one a few weeks ago...wow I had to think about what my next car really was gonna be. I'm torn between this and a Kia Stinger (yeah 2 totally different cars). I love a car that I can just throw into a corner which is why I loved the handling and the fact its a 6mt. However the Stinger isn't half bad...definitely doesn't handle as good but in its place it gains a lot of comfort and tech. I'd be keeping this next car for a good while where I'd be doing occasional road trips and what not so that's why I'm like do I make an adult choice or not haha. I'm still 20 and if I got a type R I kept it for 10 years it just wouldn't seem like something that would fit me.
Dude, 4 percent interest rate is high for new car! You gotta rev this thing out to 7K! Between 3500 and 7000 is where the power band is, and it pulls all the way to 7K like a monster! From a dig it's not much faster than the Si, but after 3500 RPM is where he will leave your si behind...
Another big factor why they have him a great deal at the dealership is because he’s military. Dealerships know people in the service basically have guaranteed income $$$
