October 15th is bassist MISA's birthday (of course Japan is 16 hours ahead, so it's already the 16th over there). Glad you chose those songs, they are two of my favorites. Lead guitarist Kanami has said that her favorite song was 'Daydreaming', and that it was one of the most difficult to compose the music for. That guitar solo is amazing, and it comes back into the main melody perfectly. Saiki had us sing along with this one in LA, even the beginning of the song. Also two of the best for showing off how beautiful Miku's backing vocals can be.

I see that Band-Maid poster behind you.... 😉 And Akane (the drummer) is not always straight faced... quite the opposite. She almost always has a huge grin and laughing when playing on stage. I just think your busy fan-girling on Saiki (the lead singer) and don't notice it LOL.
@badlama Hello from K st. At the Echoplex Miku was giving Akane the business talking mostly in English about how Akane was half gorilla and ate bananas every day. This, obviously, was all in reference to Akane being a beast on the drums. After a few minutes of Miku calling Akane half gorilla Akane came out from behind her drums to let everyone know "l am half human" (as opposed to being half gorilla). I am not sure about Akane's half this or half that but what l am sure about, after seeing her performance, she is 100% one of the best pure drummers performing today. If you rated every member of Band-Maid individually as a 10 when you add them up you don't get an answer of fifty. It's more like 150 when totaled up.

Saw the Who with Liam Gallagher from Oasis in San Francisco on Oct 9th and caught Babymetal with Korn and Tool at Aftershock last Sunday. I need about another week just to recover from that. I will also tell you l was impressed by Babymetal. My criticism of the idol system remains but those three young ladies deserve their shot at the limelight no matter how they got there. Babymetal is not in Band-Maid's class by a long shot but they were entertaining. The only things Babymetal and Band-Maid have in common is both come from Japan and both play a modern form of rock music. Very best regards from Downtown.

Even after a couple years I still get super excited when one of my favorite J-bands pop up on my play list. I think it is rare to find bands that can make you feel that way. I am a metal head and even though I do love my music those groups don't compare to the likes of Babymetal, Band Maid, Perfume or Hatsune Miku. Anyway, I was looking forward to this reaction and I really enjoyed it Liv. :D
You said it so well when you said it is rare to see a band where every member plays at such a high level. I also agree that without YT most of here wouldn't be aware of them outside of Japan. It's a shame you have to cut the songs up, but it's understandable that you have to protect your channel from the YT algorithms.

Having seen Band-Maid live at the Echoplex in LA on September 30th l can categorically tell you the following. The band must be seen live. That is their strength. The band is somewhat better live because they are constantly working and reworking established songs of theirs and there is no better band anywhere today in the genre of hard rock. I notice you and many others still talk about Band-Maid as any other JROK or JPOP band or musical group. They are not. Miku tried to break into JPOP the first go around and she failed. It resulted in Miku having to go to work for Maid Cafés just to pay the bills and survive. And it was at that job where Miku got the idea to dress a band just like the employees of Maid Cafés. She wanted what she called the "gap". Simply put the gap is the difference between what one assumes compared to what is real. See see cute maids on stage. You, not knowing any difference expect a certain sound because of assumptions based on looks. Then you hear the music they make and your first reaction is holy shit. Miku formulated this plan not being able to play any musical instrument and having no experience with Western rock n roll. Her four partners in crime had zero experience with rock n roll. Pretty steep learning curve. Band-Maid put themselves together. Band-Maid writes, arranges and performs their OWN original music. There is another band on Band-Maid's record label called BiSH. They bill themselves as the alt-idol or anti-idol music group. Band-Maid should be considered alt-idol as well. They are simply the best at what they do and what they do is world class hard rock. No body does it better than Band-Maid.

There are times when I wonder if Band-Maid put subliminal hypnotic messages in their videos, and we are actually all just sitting here, watching videos of white noise and a blank screen, tricked into believing we are watching something amazing.
(well, 1.116 views, on 16 oct. goes perfectly with my "name") indeed, this band is something else. every song is great or better. i've been collecting various music for decades, heard it all, seen it all, as they say. but i've never found a band to completely agree with. there was always at least one song on a album, labeled (by me) as crap or pointless filler, until band maid. today, all those lp's, cd's, mp3's, tapes are useless and will become birthday gifts for friends. band maid has a legacy of 80+ perfect songs and the ladies just keep giving more and more. and that smile on your face... i just know, how it feels. cheers, little sister.
Your reaction to these ladies replicate EXACTLY how I feel everyday when I listen to them. They don't deserve to be labeled to J-anything accept to Rock and beyond. Cool work. Don't change....... other than try not to edit so much. It reduces the overall reaction.
While pausing is fine but skipping parts of the video just leaves a bad aftertaste esp. in the crucial sections like how it skipped the buildup straight into the solo on Puzzle. Although as a viewer your reactions and inputs takes priority but when its chopped up so frequently, the certain flow gets broken and it feels like I'm watching a compilation of your reactions to a compilation video... I'd rather prefer the pause and comment approach which atleast preserves that flow inspite the delay I hope you don't take this the wrong way but its coz I really do appreciate the energy and positive vibe you bring in your videos and I feel that you're worth being honest with :)

For instance, its like watching a disinterested face and the next frame they're smiling.
