+Landen Duvall earlier in the vid he said to hook up to the engine when they ran out, he shut down for a minute then when he looks back at 6:03 you can see its on one of the engines discharges.

When he stopped flowing at 4:18 the brush truck was out of water and they moved the line over to the engine. He wasn't flowing off the brush truck the entire video. Not to mention they also had a tanker on scene.
Judging by the fact that the tractor is nowhere in the vid, I'm guessing the trucker was too preoccupied with getting his tractor the hell out from under the trailer before it suffered any damage to worry about finding a fire extinguisher before the fire was too out of hand for him to deal with alone.
Since about 2008 or so most structural firefighters are taught to approach all vehicle fires at a 45 degree angle and then shoulder mount the line and “pie” mix as in side step in a circle around it. It’s a safety thing in case you have to bail quickly
There's a new one. I never thought the smaller apparatus had extinguishing capabilities like a hose line. It looked like David and Goliath for a mad minute there. OUTSTANDING! Edit: Forgot to add..lunch is on the house today. Pop corn and cabbage.
Good footage... but one question... with an observation... why wasn't anyone using their SCBA equipment? I saw one firefighter with his pack on, but no mask. Then You have one of the fire fighters take what appears to be the truck driver, and a highway patrol officer to the back of the trailer to open the back doors up. The trailer is still involved, so why introduce others to a smoke hazard?
What is wrong with critiquing? LousahKlique didn't make any personal attacks, just started with a complement and asked sincere questions. It's how the fire service collectively learns and improves. What does your department do on a scene like this?
I was either going with that or leaking seal and hot brakes but been that there's no hills from what I can see I woudnt think his brakes of gotten hot enough to catch the oil so your theory had more sense
Safety dudes are salivating seeing that. Same safety dudes that demand you wear a hi-vis vest inside a 70' by 13.5' by 8.5' truck. Cause, if they can't see that giant truck, they might see the vest.
I used to drive for this company back in 2003 and this really does not surprise me. They do not teach the drivers how to adjust trailer brakes, nor does the maintenance crew really do their due diligence to make sure that things like this happens. And because it was under that driver, they will now charge the driver $1,000 for the deductible from their insurance, even if the driver is a company driver.
God imagine the smell of burning cabbage, plastic & other materials My worst call was a tanker that got into a head on accident with a fully loaded Honey Bucket Tanker Truck. Both on fire & man the smell.
"OK Bob, listen, we'll get on scene first and pull the hose, make sure you get that on cam. And then Ricky-Bobby you grab the hose again after I put it down and then a minute and 40 seconds on scene we will actually start throwing water on the flames. Everyone got that?"
Wonder how that mess was cleaned up. Sure they had to unload the trailer after the fire, since I don't think towing that trailer with a load would be wise.
I have had buses and car fires but not a semi tractor trailer , as a first responder for the ports and tunnels I can say this , is dangerous out there because you never know what this cars, buses, and rigs are transporting. stay safe guys.
First off I would say a respectable knockdown with only 200 gallons. Type 6 pump operator needs a lot of practice. @Jed Nagel, obviously you have never torn down a semi trailer on fire. 4 rural units here typically only deliver a handful of firefighters to the scene.
Very well done! Excellent use of the limited water supply and 2 man crew of the mini pumper for a quick knockdown until the big trucks could arrive. Great job on on the hose move when the mini pumper ran out of water. Yea, Charley shouldn't have gassed himself when he opened the trailer door but, still, an extremely good job by all. Roast veggies, anyone?
The firefighter we were seeing this from, was all this water coming straight from the one truck's tanks, if so, that truck must have a really large water tank built onto it, for only being a smaller truck of the force......
Shame on CTI! They check all trucks conditions before they leave their distribution (I don't recall the real name of them.) centers. (Ex husband was a truck driver there).
It's not a brush truck. It's a mini pumper with a 250-300 gallon tank. He got 2 1/2 minutes of water which is about right from a 1 3/4in hoseline with a flow rate around 100 gpm.
Engine crew was so excited to pull that second line on a knocked down fire that they forgot to turn the siren off...
Lol and to get sprayed in the face when this guy keep looking around while spraying
Like you guys are perfect and never make a mistake. Especially since you are an Arm Chair Firefighter. Go back to watching Emergency.

Great video. But how did you get so much nozzle time from a brush truck?
How did u get so much from that truck

+ed baker Ah, so that's where all that water came from.
Wish you wouldn't have told me though; I prefer to believe he had a magical brush truck.
well the more you known
is it just me or is watching fires get extinguished one of the most satisfying things
When he stopped flowing at 4:18 the brush truck was out of water and they moved the line over to the engine. He wasn't flowing off the brush truck the entire video. Not to mention they also had a tanker on scene.

Damn it. I jumped up thinking my pager was going off 😂
Seth Schonaman lmao stay safe.
I litterally did the same so I pressed pause and then realized it
Boy does that look like fun to put out a fire like that
Good move on the trucker to pull his kingpin and gtfo
1st rule, save the truck
That was a $150k truck back in late 00's.
did he seriously open the back of that box with no SCBA on, and stands right behind it like it's nothing? dude has balls or a death wish.
That is most likely the driver, and you can see that he will be able to walk away with his two Load Locks! A major save...
Mr Sunshines lol true
A little cabbage smoke never hurt anyone 😂
Jon Ansley yea, as long as they don’t stay in smoke for too long.
Rafael Carrera Or the brush truck doesn’t have an packs on it
Where did they learn to fight fire? Attacking at an odd angle and mostly avoiding the fire source.
Maybe they should've opened the back doors and went inside huh dumbass

Whats the structure on the rear of the trailer? Better aero for fuel economy? Never see that here in Au.
From an experience on call in 08 we no longer water trailers until confirmed product inside.

I wasn't going to ask, but since no one else has, how much water does that truck hold?
Oh god I thought that was my pager lmao sounded like the start of mine

How much water you guys carry in the first smaller fire truck?
Looks like a classic wheel bearing fire. Notice the black rubber laid down behind the trailer. The right outside trailer wheel wasn't turning at all.
I was either going with that or leaking seal and hot brakes but been that there's no hills from what I can see I woudnt think his brakes of gotten hot enough to catch the oil so your theory had more sense
could have been an air leak on the emergency/supply side as well that caused the brakes to lock up
My cabbages!!!
good job on knockdown but why were lines pulled off multiple trucks?
Mhm,
how much water does the first fire truck that was there hold?

at around 4:17 he switches it to the tanker.

@Mr Sunshines why u so mad????
what is the difference between a brush truck and a engine?
An engine is used for structural firefighting and a brush truck is used for brush and forest fires.
jmack Thank you very much!
plus usually you have more water on an engine than a brush truck. usually is the key word.
Der/// A brush truck is designed for off road use.

pretty impressive for a mini pumper
