I absolutely love the emotion they managed to strike here. Everything has finally caught up to him. Gus can’t go after his family because the DEA is protecting them and Walt can’t go to the police because he’s a criminal. It just really hits the feeling of being out of time. Like a criminal in the old west waiting to be hanged. There’s no way out (until he gets his idea)
I just realized the plant is Lily of the valley. Same stuff he used to poison Brock. The gun pointing either at him or the flower exactly shows Walt's thought process.
One of the guards gave it to Brock at school, when Walt goes into Saul's office she is shredding school schedules. Walt takes the cigarette from Jesse when they have a smoke outside the laundromat, he takes a few puffs and then puts it out as the ricin was in the middle of it. Such a kick-ass season!
SPOILER When Walter find that Skyler gave the money to Ted. When Gus walk to this death. This scene. The last one is not particular, just when Walter's brother in law discover that he is Heisenberg. But there is alsow other scene that I put in same place as this one, so the 4th is a bit a groupe of Breaking bad's scenes.

@@UnholyPancake I think because of the odds of that moment wasn't good for Walter. He was considering suicide - at least I think. Then he though on a different perspective, Heisenberg's one, and he poisoned the child.

Yeah, that scene! Yes, Walt really does have some interesting talks with his son. You know, they were going to have an exchange between those two back in the Season 3 finale. They had to cut it for time, but it was apparently one of the last things to go. I hope it ends up in the collector's box set one day, because I'm waiting to buy the entire series once it is complete.
That's interesting....especially if it were Hank. I hope we come back to visit the flashforward teased at the beginning of the season. I'm thinking it could go either way at the dinner scene for Hank....I think the news is so shocking, mind-blowing, he might just confront Walt about the knowledge he has right then and there. But I also think he may want to go back and review all the details, connect the dots, and then come back for him. But I'm just not 100% sure.
the point of the spinning gun is too show how desperate things had got and how it just happens to point to the lily of the valley. searching for hope, searching for something to save himself from gus
just listened to amc's insider podcast, that table was 100% digital cgi created where the digital table is, is a rig with a fishing line pully to do the gun spin on wooden dowel attached to the rig.
Giancarlo Esposito is definitely one of the most talented actors in the business. Compare Gus Fring's character with other characters he has played, you see how unique Gus Fring is as a character. Gus is quite the psychopath. And yeah, those scenes are quite the twists. I can't wait to see how the series pans out from Hank finding that out! I mean, I'm trying to picture how the next scene can go. How is Hank going to react back at the lunch scene with the family? I can't wait to find out!
Yep, completely up to date. I can't wait till next summer! I feel the exact same way, it really is perfect in every aspect. I keep expecting a slip-up, but the show(thankfully) never does! It just gets better and better. It's going to be hard to say goodbye to the show once it officially ends next year....I'm trying to fill the void between now and next year with other dramas(i.e. Homeland), but they just can't match Breaking Bad.
That's what seems to be the most likely. The only reason I'm thinking he would act contrary would be the shock factor....and he's just so tired. He told Walt 3 months before the scene at the mid-season finale how he was getting tired of chasing monsters. But, he'll probably resort to things the cerebral way, like he has been. The important thing is he has a hunch. And he never relinquishes on a hunch.
@thatONEmachine Yes, it is a big question. We have no idea what he did from the time he looked at the plant till late that night. That's a good 12 hours or so that he had. It's not an issue of when, he had plenty of time. It's an issue of how he did it...there are a number of theories floating about, like how he got Saul's bodygaurd Huell to lift the cig from Jesse when he gave him the pack back. But who gave the Lilly of the Valley to Brock? Maybe Walt payed Saul to get it done. Who knows?
You mean to tell me you didn't catch that with the the final shot of the season 4 finale where it clearly shows the plant and the name after Jess tells Walt what poisoned Brock?
Yeah, Game of Thrones has gotten tons of accolades, so I'm bound to catch up on that. It's also short, so it's easy to catch up on. Boss is in the same boat. Really impressed with Kelsey Grammar in that show.
Apparently, you didn't pay attention to when I posted this. I posted that comment before the season 4 finale was even aired. In fact, this was the day after 4x12 premiered. Once that premiered, I wanted to watch this particular scene again, so I found this video. And my comment was a reply to BarbLem, who figured out the type of flower that Walt looks at in 4x12.
@BarbaLem Oh. My. Gosh! That's incredible! I had the hunch Walt poisoned Brock. I really did. But, knowing what he said to Jesse about "When would I have been able to do it?" I was curious about this opening scene. I knew there was something strange about the last gun spin. Like how Walt seemed content after spinning the gun the last time...and the lingering look at the potted plant. What the heck did it mean? My suspicions have been confirmed. Absolutely brilliant plan, Heisenberg!
@robocock237 In the last episode, then Saul's secretary destroys all his papers there's a note of brook's daytime. I think Walt did it cuz he was missing about half of the episode, with Saul's help.
Yes, you are correct in that it's cumulative...but there are certainly high points and low points in the story. I'm not saying choose one over the other -- because, every single scene in the series is important -- but surely there must have been a moment that elicited a poignant reaction? Walt in the crawl space? Hank vs the Cousins? "That is not meth." ? The philosophical 4 Days Out and Fly? The train heist? Oh....soooo many.
So when he's spinning the gun is he contemplating suicide? That might by why the gun keeps pointing back at him and he looks so distressed looking at it. It seems reasonable that given the mess he is in and him freaking out in the crawl space at the end of the previous episode that he might see killing himself as the only way out...until the gun points to the lilly of the valley
The third time though, it points to a potted plant, which is a lily of the valley plant. Here is where Walter White gets the idea of poisonning brock !
Hmmm....My favorite? I really like Walt.....actually, I don't think there's any character I don't like, but I think my favorite besides him might be Walt Jr.(Flynn). I feel like there is a lot of depth to his character that we rarely get to see. The scene with him and Walt in Season 4, episode 10 is one of my favorites in the series.
No, I agree. None of the ones I've watched are as good as Breaking Bad. The Walking Dead is solid, read a lot of the comics earlier this year after season 2 ended. I've heard lots of good things about Game of Thrones and Sherlock, but haven't gotten around to them yet. Started the Starz show Boss today, it has my interest.
But how did he poison the kid. I've read he paid Saul, but I don't remember that ever happening. Also, what happened to the poisoned cigarrete? I was actually convinced Brock took the cigarrete from Jesse's jacket to try a puff...
Oh gosh....hmmm.....Well, for a while, I've felt like the 3rd Season was my favorite. I really liked the 2nd season, but the finale was my least favorite in the series. The 4th season was awesome, very very dark....Even though it's been over a year, it still feels like it's a bit too soon to tell if I like the 4th more than the 3rd.
