The NSX main advantage is on the long front straight where the 2WD has less drive line power loss than the 4WD cars. Also, the NSX has a lower drag coefficient, again helping its performance on that long front straight. Other major factor is that the NSX has braking advantage since the S Zero is the lightest version of the NSX. The GTR is very heavy and was beginning to experience brake fade towards the end of the race. The EVO used for this test did not even have ABS, the fact that it stayed close to the top 2 is a testament to its handling/grip. In any case, this is my all time favorite BM battle. Its awesome how the three cars in front were also driven by BM's three best drivers.
im kuwaiti :) from the middle east (gulf) and we still drive stick shifts , also I'm owner of manual NISSAN z :) but still,,,they make shifting looks so easy in track ;)
Wow, this race (Fuji circuit) really highlights how much slipstreaming can make a difference... Also I really like the long battles (5 laps of Fuji is like 10 laps of tsubuka) cause it adds more variables to the race e.g awd are very hard on front tyres, especially the heavy GTR, thats where I think the honda gained time back (strong braking and turn in cause looks after front rubber being MR and much lighter). It's good to see pros/cons of each that way. Although it'll never happen, I wish touring car racing could go back good ol Group A days where they raced production based cars like this rather instead of the heavily standardised cars they use today.
Great race. I was surprised to see the F355 clocked the best lap time. Also, it's nice to see the EVOs and Imprezas play with the big boys and hold their own.
Oh my god, that NSX engine note. Holy shit, that sounds intoxicating. The 355 sounds amazing as well! What a boss, Mr. Ganji. Passes the GTR and says "as predicted". The NSX is a TRUE track car. Talk shit about its power defecit all day but the car is a track beast. All cars did pretty well but the BMW was totally outclassed. Rx7 despite being at a totally different price point did REALLY well.Good shit, these are all the best cars ever. Would love to see them compare to some of the new super cars.
jay92889 Modern hatchbacks would wipe the floor with any of these supercars and sports car. Around Nurburgring for example, Renault Megane RS Trophy is about 30-40 seconds per lap faster than a 355, NSX or RX7.
Same old BS on youtube from clueless idiots lol. Like you say it did a 7:50 ish lap on crappy old tyres, imagine what it would do with a set of sticky tyres like the megane used! To the guys above the NSX R is still quicker today!
Sorry i know its an old comment but this is simply not true. The new civic cant touch the nsx r lap times around any of the Japanese tracks. Even on rubbish old tyres it lappped the ring in 7:50 odd which suits these fwd beast as its so bloody bumpy. Yes technology has come on lots but the nsx R holds up rather well.
You've obviously never, ever, been on a race track before. His talent was on full display. The F355's only main advantage is on the long front straight. He worked his way up to 4th position and would have overtaken the top 3 cars within the next 2 laps. You are the very definition of arm chair quarterback.
HKS NISMO Fastest lap time because there was no one around him to hinder is speed or breaking. When you're really in the mix and competing, it's harder to set a good lap time.
@Masrider555 I have the Video. It's 2000-03. The Evo VI RS (not the TME model) was driven by Keiichi Tsuchiya He won over the NSX. He wasn't even scared of the breaks locking up. Isn't Nakaya have the most experience driving 4WD Cars, especially the Lancer Evolution.
I love the dam NSX! Never has been a super fast car with only a V6 in it, but it will sure take off in corners it's a handling machine! Once it got in first place there was no passing it, your best bet was on the strait for that!
Of course they are. You have the NSX and the F355 which many would classify as supercar/exotic for their time. You have the R34 GT-R as Japan's premiere sports car. The FD3S RX-7 as a handling machine. The STi and the Evo VI as AWD rally sedans. Then the M Coupe, a car that carries the M-badge. All the Japanese cars are capped at 280 hp, while the M Coupe has 321 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque and a curb weight 3,085 lb, which means it is lighter than the GT-R, and parity with the sedans.
The GT-R and NSX going at it didn't really surprise me. What really impressed me was that the guy in the white Evo was actually keeping up with the NSX and the GT-R. He's clearly a better driver than the guy in the GC8 WRX.
I remember there one video that Evo drive by Drift King stay on top of NSX and wins it if you found it pls upload thank you, so this round of race can i say its the driver's fault? but he says there are no ABS and standard gear but i still think that if he brake abit late before the corner, maybe he can stay in second place or win it.
Shouldnt be, Subarus have never really been track weapons. Put them all on a real road surface where conditions are far less ideal and the order will start looking very different.
My father owned Z3 roadster 3.0i, that was cruising car ,than sport car. Chassis, based on E30/E36...that was low rigidity. And dumper setting was also, too much oversteering. But, I really love Z3's exterior.
When I was playing Gran Turismo in the days I couldn't figure out what was the deal with racing only 6 cars for a few laps with random sports cars.. Now I get it. They should totally port this TV show in North America!
just the fact that the evo can keep up with such great cars makes it a good choice to have any day, although between that and the Subi i'll take the subi, the Skyline would be cool too , but o well a man can dream XD!
Gansan is pulling the soul of that NSX engine, he's overrevving it to the extreme, and downshifts beyond the redline. I wonder how any car still drives after his escapades.
Boost on the cars are turned up & that's a modified NSX. There is another video with same drivers and different cars. The stock NSX in that video couldn't even keep up to the Z3M Roadster. Stock NSX doesn't sound like the one in the video it sounds like an Acura legend or accord.
Take note the nsx in this video is a type r version and it is stock. Maybe the one you saw on the other video was a type s which is less developed than the type R.
Sorry i didnt mean it like that but the RX7 just couldn't hang with the other cars, I know they are all GREAT Pro drivers but Gan San is on another level.
Better handling isnt quite everything with zero roads in which to enjoy the great handling that arent covered in gravel. For the record the "yank v8" corvette will whoop almost ALL rice imports around a track for near the same price.

Real life Gran Turismo.
Honda The Power Of Dreams...its true..
Looks like I'm watching Gran Turismo 2 on PS2.
On PS1*
That or Gran Turismo 3
Japanese engineering at its best..
I love these cars. Why designs couldn't stay like in this time of period for forever?
Grew up watching these guys, they are in my heart everytime I am on track!
instaBlaster...
WOW how that nsx came from behind to pass the evo and gtr is crazy. overall balance of the car is that good.
The NSX main advantage is on the long front straight where the 2WD has less drive line power loss than the 4WD cars. Practical Driver yup Honda is just too good and efficient
It's the skill of the driver.
@@practicaldriver and Senna was a developer of Nsx.
We've hit over 1 Million views! We hope everyone enjoyed our video! Thanks for watching!!!
act right y g
Congratulations . Liked the video
this is some real racing by some real cars that can really turn
these japanese , always makes SHIFITNG looks easy ...
arty4life That's because shifting IS easy...let me guess, you're american?
im kuwaiti :) from the middle east (gulf) and we still drive stick shifts , also I'm owner of manual NISSAN z :) but still,,,they make shifting looks so easy in track ;)
arty4life
Arabian Gulf
***** middle east , sure i mean =arabian gulf :)

عفية عليك
Lancer lost beacause he don't have ABS and the driver in the 355 was terrible. The guy in the NSX is totally insane!
thats gansan haha :D and yess hes insane
Someone paid attention
Gansan is crazy
@@lexburen5932 Yes, he is insane in both good and bad meanings.
How was the 355 terrible? He didn’t win but he got fastest lap.
in honda i trust
yezir
lol like in f1
John doe yeah in 1988 honda was the best
ramiza fel good old times.. not now

The real Gran Turismo o.O
5:45 unbelievable how Gan San is so in-tune with every single bit of that car.
このころの自動車が一番好きだった
Glad to see the NSX won. It boils down to basic's...mid-engine, rwd, lightweight and good power all blended in to a pure driving machine.
My all time favorite BM battle, really caught my imagination and why i now own an Sti and track it regularly.
Really fun video. Thanks for posting. Those 90's/early 2000's races were amazing. RX7 looked underpowered or something wasn't working right.
+James Calandrella RX7 looked fine, he wasn't too far behind the main pack.
Looked just as fast as Ferrari on straight
did they say the hp? to all the cars? maybe it was lacking
I love watching them shift and doing the footwork haha. Makes me wanna learn stick shift.
Great race. I was surprised to see the F355 clocked the best lap time. Also, it's nice to see the EVOs and Imprezas play with the big boys and hold their own.
ガンさんの英語字幕がガン爺だったw

derbigpr500 I don't doubt it. Even the new Civic Type R will sweep these away, but I just feel like these cars had soul, compared to anything new.
+derbigpr500 you do know the NSX R is under 8 minutes on the Nurburbring,I don't know where you get those claims from.
Same old BS on youtube from clueless idiots lol. Like you say it did a 7:50 ish lap on crappy old tyres, imagine what it would do with a set of sticky tyres like the megane used! To the guys above the NSX R is still quicker today!

not even the type r nsx.... take that haters...
Not even a good driver in the 355!
mhh3, well, he forgot his talent that day, cause he wasn't even trying to drive fast...
Its BM, A Japanese show, Of course the Japanese cars are gonna come out on top....
You've obviously never, ever, been on a race track before. His talent was on full display. The F355's only main advantage is on the long front straight. jdm is ahead of it's rivals
Classic race with perfectly matched Drivers to cars , I get goose bumps with the Honda getting close at the end
F355 with fastest lap as expected.
HKS NISMO
Fastest lap time because there was no one around him to hinder is speed or breaking. When you're really in the mix and competing, it's harder to set a good lap time.
Spoonzaza true
compare to the prices of jdm,it obviously wasnt good enough
F355 wasn't the fastest, but had the best sound.
very good driving'
Also its amazing how evenly matched the cars are.
the nsx driver has the type similar to Senna's driving. There's a video of him testing the identical NSX
Which pixel is which car?
The 3 pixels in the middle at 4:00 is the Rx7 and the 2 pixels behind it is the STi.
Love just how serious gan san was in this race, sooo determined
@Masrider555 I have the Video. It's 2000-03.

You can really hear the differences between turbo and na engine sound in this race. NA for life! 😁😍
I love the dam NSX! Never has been a super fast car with only a V6 in it, but it will sure take off in corners it's a handling machine! Once it got in first place there was no passing it, your best bet was on the strait for that!
thanks for the subtitles
awesome!
Honda's the best!
If the FD RX-7 wasn't so far beind at the starting grid, things would be quite different. A good battle between the FD and the NSX!
The NSX was one of the greatest cars of the 90s. It's a shame, as the Japanese like to say, that Honda stopped developing it.
boss Senna wins

Best races on utube... the old guy in the NSX always wins..he is a beast...355 sounds Awesome..
Mr. Gangi is very skilled and experienced driver.
The GT-R and NSX going at it didn't really surprise me. What really impressed me was that the guy in the white Evo was actually keeping up with the NSX and the GT-R. He's clearly a better driver than the guy in the GC8 WRX.
Luigi Gaskell Yeah he was so crazy. He was driving so good without ABS
Mr Kurosawa (Gan-san) driving skill is amazing!!!
Evo 4,5 and 6 were the best looking models!
355 still had the fastest lap time.
How is Evo X better? I think EVo X looks good. I really dont know why Mitsubishi had to make a new Evo like every 5 years
Gosh 15 years ago..m wonder where all these cars are now
The late 90s were the golden age for Best Motoring. I can't believe they went under. :(
I remember there one video that Evo drive by Drift King stay on top of NSX and wins it if you found it pls upload thank you, so this round of race can i say its the driver's fault? but he says there are no ABS and standard gear but i still think that if he brake abit late before the corner, maybe he can stay in second place or win it.
@KoukiMonsta240 2:36 for example.. with that little blurry quality it looks just like a video or replay from the older GT game series :p
おもしろいなーNSXの軽さと回頭性の良さが出てる(´・ω・`)
116 nissan lovers still thinks gtr is better
cr2nr Well in this era the latest gtr is better than the latest nsx.
damn. that NSX's tires were TOAST in the last lap.
amazing, thanks for sharing
90's engineering and design at its best!
We would get along very well. What do you drive now? :)
that nsx was splendid! it took alot of beating from gan san's monster driving performance!
nsx got heart, so as its drivers tsuchiya and gan san...
the 355 Sound Awesome :-)
The back view of 1st gen NSX is porn. I can never get over how good it looks from the back.
Great race. I was rooting for the evo and the GTR though.
Incredible that Mitsu Evo 4 cylinders VS 10, 6 and 8 cylinders and almost win... just its the best technology!!! ;)
Its called "heel and toe". Its a technique to match the rev when downshifting, in order to achieve smooth and quick downshifting while racing.
I guess we now know where the sound effects for tie-fighters came from.. great race btw.
God damn that NSX sounds good. Are these cars all stock?
@Masrider555 No, no I've just never seen Nakaya Breaking that early before. Now I understand the ABS, and the AYC Part.
as a gc8 owner this was very painfull to watch :D
jrfud universal truth is that evos are always better than subaru wrx/sti lmaooo
AlienNinjaPuppy no, Impreza and Evos are practically the same, Evo is same that Impreza. Only changes the chasis and engine. The concept is same.
Shouldnt be, Subarus have never really been track weapons. Put them all on a real road surface where conditions are far less ideal and the order will start looking very different.
holy shit these guys are on point with those shifting
yeah man, they use to be the top racers of japan :)
Nice man. I love the 10. I hope to have one someday. I am in an RSX-S right now. It's pretty fun.
NSX sounds like a Ferrari V12! So nice
stuff like this makes me a proud honda type r driver 👍
me to iv got a civic type R we the best
+scorpio7mafia yes !!
近年に再デビューするNSXと35GT-Rとの勝負が見てみたいですね。
oh, almost forgot, this sti on the video also did not have ABS brakes..so..he might have lost some time on braking aswell..
I still love Rx7 FD3S 😭
what's the most impressive here is that the Evo is the only Sedan here in the here
@FreestylerAlbert
Seems like he had trouble with Ferrari's "gated" shifter.
My father owned Z3 roadster 3.0i, that was cruising car ,than sport car.
Chassis, based on E30/E36...that was low rigidity. And dumper setting was also, too much oversteering.
But, I really love Z3's exterior.
As Brian said, knowing that it can preserve the gearbox and prevent the powered wheels from locking. This technique only has advantages :)
why do they press the gas and the clutch when braking, and not just the brake and clutch? anybody know?
The F355 screaming is out of this world.
Those nsx brakes are insane. They won the race for him.
I have a question, if the Japanese cars are limited by law to 276HP why did they pot only a 200HP engine in the new GT-86?
来たな!じじい!wwwwwワロタww
ローパワーのマシンとかファミリーカーレースみたいなのも面白いけどやっぱりハイパワーマシンの戦いが一番好き
When I was playing Gran Turismo in the days I couldn't figure out what was the deal with racing only 6 cars for a few laps with random sports cars.. Now I get it. They should totally port this TV show in North America!
what happened to the sti???? lol
That Nsx is really Impressive considering it doesn't have a Turbo like the Gtr. Both cars are amazing
just the fact that the evo can keep up with such great cars makes it a good choice to have any day, although between that and the Subi i'll take the subi, the Skyline would be cool too , but o well a man can dream XD!
honda the power of dream...
love these 90' japanese car because their technology, the price and abilities...
the nsx driver has the type similar to Senna's driving. There's a video of him testing and developing the identical NSX.
Is that a S-Zero NSX?
Gansan is pulling the soul of that NSX engine, he's overrevving it to the extreme, and downshifts beyond the redline. I wonder how any car still drives after his escapades.
この頃、グランツーリスモ3の時が一番国産車に力が入ってたな。
今は・・・うん、死んでる。
Boost on the cars are turned up & that's a modified NSX. There is another video with same drivers and different cars. The stock NSX in that video couldn't even keep up to the Z3M Roadster. Stock NSX doesn't sound like the one in the video it sounds like an Acura legend or accord.

I love these races but the quickest car after the 355 is the Z3M (in a straight line) it seemed very lethargic on the straight and at the start
That NSX only won with Gan San behind the wheels, if it was some rookie he would be left behind with the rx7.
+jeff quach Gan San's son is driving the RX7, you calling HIM a rookie?! LOL
Sorry i didnt mean it like that but the RX7 just couldn't hang with the other cars, I know they are all GREAT Pro drivers but Gan San is on another level.
+jeff quach yup gan san is a monster behind the wheel and is exceptionally good with the nsx
Don't ruin it for the people who haven't watched it yet.
These races are fucking impressive! How can a EVO be second in front of the race with such machines????
how can it be that the subaru is faster than the z3m coupe thats bullshit man that z3 must be 2,8 engine and not a 3,2 321hp!!!
and america has the best drag cars. its all about preference.
who the fuck gives a shit about drags... it shows no skill, only shifting and the cars speed in a straight line
Azn lomo shifting with crappy automat :D ...
Azn lomo if you dont care why comment?
better handling is everything, not overboasted power on your yank V8s.
Better handling isnt quite everything with zero roads in which to enjoy the great handling that arent covered in gravel. For the record the "yank v8" corvette will whoop almost ALL rice imports around a track for near the same price.
Honda wins again
It took until the 5th lap for the Ferrari to get its best last time and the best of the pack. All the Japanese cars got their best lap times by the second lap while in the mix competing.
