The coolest thing about this video is, That fish was released. I know we get caught up in the Snoobery of Bass fishing. But a fish that big and that old, deserves to fight another day. Cool video man hope you guys get it.
The only thing is, after that long of a fight there is a ton of lactic acid build up in the fish. Then, the angler stuck his hands inside the gill plate, which can damage the gills on the cat. Between those two, there's an excellent chance the cat swam off and died. But at least he was given a chance...and wasn't paraded around in the back of a pickup truck for several hours until it died for sure.
Tim and matt are extremely conservation minded. Have several world records under their belts. fish care is at the for front of their minds. Tim's background in his chosen field gives me the confidence it was returned safely. Tim and Matt show grate respects to their resources and one of the biggest reasons I fallow this channel. They have released so many large fish in their time. I am confident this fish is still swimming.
The thing that makes me happiest about this entire video, as someone who fishes for both big cats, bass and other sport fish, was the live release of that fish. Big fish of any species are the most important to the breeding population, and most people catch big cats and call them dinner. Tim truly deserves to have that record. Congrats!!
I actually scrolled right to the end to see if there was a release and like awesome conservation minded fishermen you guys are, there it was swimming away to live another day, how awesome is that. Good on you for respecting the fight and getting a perfect release, TB definitely the most underrated YT channels out there!!!!
Ever ask someone how they are doing and they respond "Living the Dream" Tim is living the dream. Catching huge fish while changing batteries. I thought you were breaking out your lunch for a second when I saw the Ziplock. Perfect video, so great you enjoyed it with your family. Congratulations Tim on the catch and releasing it safely.
Jacob S almost any knot is goodnif you tie it correctly. I used a double uni on a 3 foot shark and put way more pressure on it than he put on his. People say the double uni isn’t good too
Exactly. 99% of the time, no matter how I did up the braid-to-leader, my main connection knot to the bait is a _properly_ tied Palomar. Never had a Palomar break that wasn't my own fault.
Great fish! Great (patient) catch...I was smallie fishing this summer and a 24lb 3oz 48 inch Northern sucked down my tiny Keitech on light line...pulled nearly the entire spool before the drag stopped...took awhile, but managed to boat it....but I did have a net. 😀 Love your videos!
Police department: Why were you late to work, tim? Tim: I told myself I'd leave after I caught one more fish. Police department: So why'd that take so long Tim: *shows video*
My fish is bigger checkout my channel and the place where I can confirm it is bigger tpwd.texas.gov/fishboat/fish/action/staterecords.php?env=FW&age_group=junior&list=0&browse=Submit
Awesome catch!!!!! Amazing patience and workmanship!!! So glad your wife and kids got to see it. Awesome that you released it as well. Thanks for the inspiring videos Tim and Matt!!!!
Way to include the family. The most important part of fishing. Do some videos of teaching the kids different techniques. I know my kids would be all over it.
I know Matt mentioned that the tactical family holds or has held nine different world records in the how to catch a record fish video. The world record spot story is the only one that has its own video afaik. I'm dying to hear some of those other stories!
Awesome fish!! I just lucked into about a 30lb carp with 15lb braid to a 10lb flouro leader a few weeks ago.. took about 30 min or so to get it out of the water for a picture..
You probably already have more comments on this video than any other. Amazing fish and a superb job of fighting her. Somehow, I found it hard to believe that the Senko was still on the line and right on her face.
Cool... good luck on the record! Can we get more of the stories on the rest of the records you guys have. I remember seeing a video talk about the record spot but that picture of Matt's wall have many more records on it!!! :-)
For anyone confused about the record (as was I), the record is for the tackle used (line class). Details here: wrec.igfa.org/WRecordsList.aspx?lc=Species&cn=Catfish,%20channel
I was bass fishing last week and i could of probably hooked into a record steelhead. It took me 1 hour and a half to pull it in. I had it in the gills and it shook off my hands and got away. I was disappointed it didn't get a picture.
I loved this one, and I caught a 31lb blue cat in the Ohio River on 10lb flouro while taking my 13 yr old son fishing. It takes patience and muscle burn to work that fat cat onto the boat, with no net hahaha Congratulations Tim.
I do this with Carp A private reservoir has only carp and a few other species but carp is the only fish for sport. I use 10lb braid and a small treble with corn. Catch 12-20lbers on a spinning reel. Takes me about 5 to 15 minutes a fish lol.
That is a HUGE Clear Lk. kitty ! :) Congrats ! The length World Record would be great. Hope that is certified. But curious if it was weighed ? Never measured my PB Channel cat from Clear Lk, but it was 30.2 lbs, and I always felt it was close to 40". I was using micro braid... 2 lb diameter, but 10 lb test. Worked great on a rod rated for 1-4lb line :)

I like how youtube makes the subtitles say “music” when the drag is ripping
"Hey guys matt allen from tactical bassin today were gonna teach you how to trick your wife into letting you go out fishing more"
That should definitely do that video
Or mom😂
@@jallmyd4693 yes! Usta take my mom fishing with me but she only like to get cats and I like bass and muskie
Your kids getting to watch a potential world record swim away healthy is the biggest win of the video...
Wow! Way to go! Not just a once in a lifetime fish but a historical fish! What an accomplishment and great job keeping your composure.

Happy to have the opportunity to watch that Tim! Thanks for the hard work on filming and catching.
HO-LEE-CATFISH BATMAN!!!! Wow!!!! Congrats Tim! What a catch! Almost as big as your son! Hope you shatter the WR. Best of luck bro. Well deserved!
If this ain't testimony as to the strength of the blood knot connecting that leader then there is no convincing you!!!

Heartiest congratulations, Tim. Such a behemoth on so light an outfit is a testimony to the quality of your gear and your skill as an angler.
Police department: Why were you late to work, tim?
Tim: I told myself I'd leave after I caught one more fish.
Police department: So why'd that take so long

Ya gotta admit that's some funny 💩 comment 🤣😂🤣😂👍👍

Doesn't hurt that he's using the best gear available...that Exsence drag was butter!
The thing is design to catch Seabass

Congratulations Tim. What an excellent catch. Really nice job getting it in the boat.
The catch of a lifetime for sure. Talk about having to have patience with that gear and size of fish. Job well done indeed and congrats.
Awesome!! Hope you get the record. Best thing is you got to share it with family that's so friggin cool.
I like all you videos guys but this one is a other level. Thanks for all these videos that encourage me to fish more thanks.
So weird almost deja vu, I just had a dream about a world record video being posted from you guys....only it was bass and swimbaits lol.
Michael Johnston if they do I don’t think it would come from Clear Lake
Fantastic job Tim. Well deserved catch. Hope it sets a new record. Amazing for 6lb line. God Bless you Matt and your families.

That's a helpless feeling right there ~ Nice job. You did all you could do and it worked out - Congratulations Tim
Congratulations Tim, amazing feat!
I love how you took time to teach while you were fighting it! Congrats man! That’s world record number...what now???
Great job playing that thing for so long Tim! My PB was 28" on 4lb test. Took a good 10 minutes to land.
This is nothing short of insane !!! Congrats Tim and good luck on the record 👍🏼
Congrats on the catch Tim! That’s a hell of a channel cat. Very pretty for one also. Can’t wait for more view as always. Rock on guys 🤘🏻
What a giant .. and there is proof that drag has jus as much to do with catching a fish as line size .. Awesome catch Tim!!
Awesome fish!! I just lucked into about a 30lb carp with 15lb braid to a 10lb flouro leader a few weeks ago.. took about 30 min or so to get it out of the water for a picture..
What a performance! Congratulations on a magnificent conquest. Thanks for sharing. That was awesome.
Catfish on artificials are always a fun surprise, a big one even more so. My hats off to the lucky angler.
A testament to good gear. Right on.
Perfect example of how to use your drag to fight giant fish on lure line. Great movie
Tim, awesome family! Way to one hand horse that beast in the boat - straight championship bro!!!
Nice job Tim! And you caught a potential world record on a 6lb line!! Awesome!!
That was a great video and an awesome catch!! Monster cat Tim, hopefully it all was done right and you get the record.

Congratulations Tim. That's a beautiful family you have.

River monster! Great job Tim 👍👊
WOW!!! 👀 I'm amazed whenever I see a catfish strike a lure. But such a big one? WOW!!! CONGRATS!!!
Nice catch! You should make a video on how to certify a fish because most of us don’t know how to.
I couldn’t stop giggling during this video!! That drag haha awesome stuff here
