- The magic of zoom, I am still enthralled, I can give a live interactive lecture at the our embassy in Washington, D.C. while at home in the City of San Juan last night (PH time).
My lecture is entitled “HARING BAYAN: The Rise of the Filipino Nation (5,000 BC to 1898)”
Thanks to the biggest Fil-Am federarion, the National Federation of Filipino American Association - Capital Region. Thank you Ryan Namata, Mar Enciso and Jarmaine Salvador. I enjoyed the talk a lot.
Around 600 years before the Spanish came, we already had maritime trade affairs with Indonesia. That alone tells a lot of what “multi-system” we have already established before Magellan came. In fact, when Magellan arrived, we simply welcomed his group, indicating that we are accustomed to having foreign visitors from other lands.
I highly adore sir Xiao for having a knowledge embedded deep down to the roots of our origin, though he's name sounds and can be readth as diasporic individual. For me such knowledge is a devotion of his Filipino identity. Looking forward to learn many things from you sir Xiao. Tosha
@Xiao Chua, I hope there will be a young people version of Kasaysayan ng Pilipinas so parents of children in the Filipino diaspora can also include this in knowing Filipino heritage.
I was born and raised in California/Hawaii. Since I turned 36, I started a deep dive into who the Filipino people are. Now I am 38, and after thousands of reading time, documentary watching and being stuck in a rabbit hole, I began to question even myself. “When will you stop wondering and driving yourself crazy trying to blend?” have found my piece as a Filipino. And this has given me not just that piece of the puzzle, but that peace to embrace who I am, living in a western world.
Grabe nakakakilabot simula sa part ni Gat Andres.
Thank you for an in-depth analysis of our Filipino culture. I need to know who I am and where I came from, so I can explore more and beyond like a nomadic Austronesian!
May UA-cam Channel po pala kayo. Thank God I've found it. Daghang Salamat Prof. I'm from Mindanao.
