      Impressive work.
However, you skipped two presidents after the Estrada and before the Duterte administration Namely:
      * Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo(now congresswoman and the daughter of former president Diosdado Macapagal.)
      * the late Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III.

You have managed to make a video of almost an hour on the "complete" history of the Philippines without talking about Andrés de Urdaneta and the "tornaviaje" (return trip to America from the Philippines), without talking about the Manila galleon (Asia-America-Europe trade for centuries), without talking about the real of eight, without talking practically about Catholic evangelization... Congratulations.
Our province Pangasinan(Caboloan) was only influenced by Chinese because of a Pirate who seek a place to hide as he is being hunted by Chinese forces. He became friends with the native tribe of Caboloan, he is Limahong. He then was force to leave the province because the Spanish Musketeers hunt them. Pangasinan has its own native dialect and it's not even influenced by Chinese as it was already exist long before the Chinese pirate arrived.

@@HuwagSalangin this is also what i learned in high school. Limahong was a pirate leader, who made caboloan one of his bases of operations. He just happened to be an ethnic Chinese. That's why I'm even more confused that caboloan is mentioned here as part of Ming's area of influence. It's also not clear if that influence is political or cultural. If it's political, that can be challenging to prove due to Limahong being a pirate. If it's cultural only, that would make more sense considering that most Filipinos with Chinese ancestry can trace their lines back to Fujian province in China.

    • @HuwagSalangin
      @HuwagSalangin 4 місяці тому +6

@@iangang9535 Caboloan was already a established town as it was a known trade route during the Ming dynasty where Limahong was a fugitive pirate. Caboloan is a name derived from bamboo specie called Bolo, a lightweight and thin bamboo commonly used for cooking and kubo wall, commonly known these days as Boho(just like how Aeta cook their meals). Pangasinense language is derrived from Malayo-Polynesian languages, it is evident on how we count on our dialect(sakey, duwa, talo, apat) not even a pinch or our local dialect is derrived from Chinese, our eyes are not Chingky, we are not yellow-white skinned, we are naturally tanned just like Ilocanos. According to history which even proved by my grandparents, Ilocanos once envy the Pangasinense because we are wealthier due to the center trades, they choose to live near Caboloan for livelihood that is why nowadays the central pangasinan composed of native speakers and the towns around it are Ilocano speakers. My grandparents once told us that as far as they can recall, their grandparents vows at the sun during sunrise and sunset because they worship the sun 😂

As a Filipino myself, I would agree with a lot of the information here except the Marcos section.
    1) economy going down was mainly due to the middle east war which caused a lot of country's economies going down. The US increased interest rate which screwed over our loans.
    2) I could say with full confidence Jabidah Massacre was fake. No names of the victims and no families of the supposed victims came out to support this claim even after 1986 when Marcos hating became popular.
    3) no, there was no evidence whatsoever that Corazon Aquino won that election. There were 2 ballot counting organizations at that time. The official, COMELEC, counted the ballots at 100% and declared Marcos the clear winner by a huge margin. The other, NAMFREL counted the ballots at 69% and said Cory was slightly in the lead. 100% vs 69%. 100% is more reliable.
There were people who came out that said they couldn't take the cheating going on but there was no specifics or further evidence to support their claims. They could very well be paid actors.
    4) Ninoy's assassins are not known until now. Both his wife and his son became presidents and neither bothered to investigate who really the assassin was.

We don’t need any foreign interventions. The Philippines can stand alone. We just need to clean up the garbage in politics and literally in our surroundings that would improve tourism(like in Japan;they respect nature).Moreover,..discipline, yes, discipline! The elders must also learn how to respect the children not to abuse them as much;been there. Most importantly, as soon as we learn how to love more of each other rather than hating (palaaway with “crab mentality “)that’s the time when the Philippines will no longer have our women enslaved in other countries to support the economy. The brain drain syndrome is a vicious cycle in the Philippines.”P’re tambay muna tayo dito! Si Duro daw ang tagay mamaya, natanggap na niya daw yung padala ng esmi niya!”!…

ABSOLUTELY fascinating history. i remember getting glued to a Philippine History Book 20 years ago in The Negros Museum. Old Agricultural Bldg., Gatuslao Street, Bacolod City. I could not put it down and just stood there in the museum for more than an hour reading it, and cramming in as much info as I could. I was blown away by it. I was born and bred in Australia and realised right then that Australia "Does not have any History", yes seriously, only a measly 200 years of colonisation, on a mostly desert land that only ever had a tiny shadow of the population... that's nothing compared to the Philippines.
With my limited knowledge many things in that History book were very difficult to understand. But I tried to retain what I read, and during brief moments over the next 20 years I would pick up extra insights that would help to put it all together.
But today, after watching this, a lot of my understanding of Philippines Colonial History has come together and I've taken a leap forward. A big thank you goes out to who ever uploaded this. And I feel now I only have to watch this video a few more times over the next few years to retain and understand most of this info forever,
Now I'd like to learn more about the tribes. I also remember reading in another book in that same Museum, about how it was alleged that some of the chiefs and medicine men of old, "Knew the way though undersea lava tubes that linked some of the Islands, and they could walk though these tubes, under the sea from Island to Island. COOL Story!
    Thanks again! Best regards. Dale

I like to hear from the Ophirian (Ophir) perspective before it is called Philippines.
What the society like? The extend of the Sovereignty that stretched to Palau and beyond in the East and to some portion of Indonesia in the South...

pre colonial philippines always will be fascinating to me. specially since the spanish labeled us as savages I didnt think we had much much more than living tribal back then.

They didnt immedietly label us savages... The first expeditions noted the wealth of the Tagalogs and other nobility, even when they conquered Kota Serulong(Maynilad), they noted the ornate hardwood atchitecture of the royal manors, and the gold and silver guilding on various objects and as parts of the hosues themselves... Them viewing the locals as savages came later in the Colonial period to supress dreams of rebellion and nationalism...

Appreciated your take on Philippine history especially during the pre-colonial eras and Spanish eras. You kinda left out the presidencies of Gloria Arroyo and Benigno Aquino III and not much was discussed about Pres. Garcia’s term. Nevertheless, it was a really good take on Philippine history and would be helpful to students and history enthusiasts. 😀

Do a feature about the Maharlika kingdom of the Philippines, which extended to all of Micronesia, Polynesia, and Marianas all the way to Hawaii and possibly Samoa. Not much is spoken about this time period, but they were the first people to believe in one God while the rest of the world worshipped multiple God's. Calling their God Abba. I'm looking forward to what you can uncover. Thank you.

We are warded from here by the influence of the Spanish invaders. Muslims who refused to convert were massacred. Even the city of Manila comes from amanilah. Muslims eventually fled south of minlake. Spanish people say that the people of Mindanao, south of Mindanao, were the most despicable of all, that moro said on minlake. Then the northmen tried to drive the moro's people out of her native land of Mindanao, this fools by the Spanish towards the Philippines.

Ferdinand Marcos Sr. Is the best philippine president ever. You didn't mention here that the Marcos Sr term is the philippine golden age. Infrastructures built, schools, hospitals, roads, bridges etc. In his term Phils is the best in agriculture at that time. Our military is strong as well. Marcos is not a dictator, he declared martial law to counteract communism who's bringing chaos to the country. If he is dictator he would have told his military to kill the people protesting against him. In his time there are more pro Marcos than against. The provinces are pro Marcos only in manila rallied against him. When Aquino succeeded him the philippines become very poor. The housewife who become president. Haha. It's a big mistake of those protested against Marcos. Until today most Filipinos love the marcoses. Thanks to our president Marcos Sr. We got back up golds that helps our economy until today. Our genius, kind and humble president ever we thank him.
