Texas Stars, How To Cut The Angles!!! (Part 2)

- In this video I show you exactly how to cut the angles for a Texas star.
I had some scrap wood laying around the garage and rather than throwing it out I decided to make these "Texas" style wooden stars (five point stars). Made from scrap pallet wood. Fairly easy project once you know how to set the angles on your miter saw.
Great way to re-purpose scrap wood and create some art for your home!
Make some stars for the holidays or year round decoration.
See part 3 video for how to glue the star together and how to stain it.

Sweet…. Finally someone who shows the entire way to do it and include the angles… much appreciated ❤
No prob! I have a few more star making tutorials on my channel if you're interested. Thanks for watching!
I just made 6 stars, using this method, and it worked perfectly. 3 stars were made from 1x6 pine, and 3 from 1x3 pine. Thanks for the video.....very clear instructions!
That's great to hear! Thank you
Splendidly to see Woodglut have new plans which helped me save some money and energy for this construction.
just found your video. very easy way to make a wooden star when you figured out the angles as you have. how about a video on how to use the formula for smaller stars as you had mentioned in this video. nice job. thank you
- Thanx a multimillion for VERY clear, concise demo/instructions. There are a number of other such demos but none as clear & nicely done as this one. Thanx 4 sharing.
Hello! Thank you! I really appreciate you saying that!
Un grand bravos de France pour ces explications !!!
Nicely done 👏
Thanks!
Nice, this is one of the simplest ways to make this kind of star, easy is. Thanks
I agree! I have a few more tricks too. I might have to make more videos :)
Great job😃😃😃👍
Thank you!
Thank you. I haven't tried yet, but soon, using old barn wood.
Good stuff
Thx for sharing and the info
No Prob! I will have another video coming out soon explaining how I glue the pieces together and add a rustic stain.
I saved the cut offs and glued them together might have to sand just a little. But it made a nice 4 point star. This used up some waste on the 45 degree star and going to try it on this one too
Great idea!
Thanks saved me a lot of figuring 😂
Glad it helped!
GRACIAS HERMANITO GENIAL. UN FUERTE ABRAZO DESDE ARGENTINA!!!!!
I see the "Corney" kegs in the background. Do you home brew also? I do that's why I noticed the kegs. Thanks for the video. Looking to make some stars for the Man Cave.
I do brew! I've always got beer on tap in my garage beer fridge :). Cheers!
Very nice and informative and for god sakes clean your tablesaw top and wax it 👍
Haha thanks. I've spilled coffee on it a few times ;)
Thanks, that's awesome. What's the brand and model of your saw. I've been looking for a saw that cut 54 degree angles.
It's a Bosch 12 inch miter saw. Excellent tool!
You have to make a jig to get 54 degree find UA-cam make any angle on miter saw

are the 54 and 36 degree cuts the same for smaller stars?
Yes, the angles stay the same.
I also would like something that shows how to cut when miter only goes 45 degrees
Here is a great video I made for making stars on a miter saw that only goes to 45 degrees :) Cheers ua-cam.com/video/-Z0zvfC8rV0/v-deo.html
Sorry my name is Julio from Canadá I liked your video and how do you explain it
No prob! I responded to your other comment and left a link to an awesome vid I made that explains everything. :)
my table saw only has 45* in that case what would be the measurements for the cut, you put 54 x 31. So me with 45 what would be the other angle??? Thank you
ua-cam.com/video/-Z0zvfC8rV0/v-deo.html This is another video I made that explains how to do it on a saw that only goes to 45 degrees :)
I really want to know the how to figure out the narrow piece like 1 1/2 " not 1x4!
That can be tricky to cut because of how small the pieces will be. There is a hollow center star that could be made safely with 1 1/2". I have yet to make that video.
Wow 💯. Subscribed!
Do you have a jig for that? This is one that needs a jig for multiple uses......
I am currently making the ultimate jig for 3d stars!
Can you make one with 45% angle
Yes I actually have another video on my channel where I make them with 45 degrees instead.
Very cool stars but dude you need to clean up that table saw.
most saws don't go past 50 degrees
You can make a jig for saws that only go to 50 degrees to cut the 54.
My saw doesn,t go to 54o
I figured out another way to cut these so you can do it on a saw that doesn't go to 54. Maybe I can make another vid.
