Awesome cover of my favorite song on Killer! My older brother got this album and Love it to death as soon as they came out and they still remain two of my all time favorite albums, any genre!!!
I've been a fan of AC for 50 years; Dennis Dunaway was one of the reasons I picked up the bass. This has been one of the signature tunes for me. I needed to see this.
Dennis base lines blew my little mind in the early seventies, still does, can't find the words how different and wonderfully original that bass sounds.
These guys sound great! They even have a guitarist that looks like Glen Buxton! The lead singer is a good look a like for Alice also. Of course, that bass player looks eerily familiar too, haha. Good to see Dennis performing.
I'm impressed...and to have DD on bass must be sublime. Glen Buxton is criminally underrated as a guitarists and this guy really plays Glens parts very well indeed....
I don't know. Watching live clips of him struggle to play the simplest of solos leave a lot of doubt of his ability. He did not play at all On MOL, one song on BDB ( according to Dennis book) session guys also covered some of his solos on Schools Out and Killer. But, he sure looked cool.
I think as the bands musical ability progressed Glen couldn't keep and I'm sure his alcohol abuse didn't help. It is ashame though how it seems that Vincent wasn't there to help this guy out since they seem to be friends from school and Glenn G.B. is immortalized in the song Public Enemy #9 of the Schools Out album..... obviously I don't know for sure and who am I to judge but as I stated the original band was the real deal. To bad Vincent who kicked the music aside for the theatrics and trying to go aka David Lee Roth and going hollywood along with Ezrin influence to go solo caused the demise of the original band. Michael Bruce was the real talent and songwriter in that band anyway....in my opinion
@@halseyknox not too sure about Bruce having the bulk of the talent but after the back broke up, AC lost me. I enjoyed WTMN but things just weren't the same. Cold Ethyl does kick ice tho. ha!
1973 was the year I got hooked on Alice aged 12 and it gave my Parents nightmares haha! Dennis was the reason I learned bass and still amaze kids with my rendition of Gutter Cats Vs Jets
I LIVED for the Alice Cooper Group and EACH member were so very important to us. Still are. Dennis Dunaway on bass was an absolute pioneer in the heavy rock genres. He dared to be musical AND powerful. There were several emerging rock bass players in the early 1970s that were really carving out a unique spot for that instrument:DD, Glen Cornick (Jethro Tull), Lemmy ( Hawkwind), Chris Squire (Yes), Billy Sheehan (you need to know him) and others. These people meant a lot to us. This was a great cover. I know every note, every beat. I CLEARLY recall every original member of AC and their individual contributions to rock. . We HAD the Pretties for You album brand new and Easy Action. Bob Ezrin did save the day when Love it to Death came out in 1971. That fucking group invented SO many standard music and genre staples that are STILL being used now. Help me GOD. wow!
I loved this song and still do ever since it came out in the 1970s - I was in college back then. Love seeing Dennis the original bass player still at it. He is married to the sister of the original band's drummer
One of my favorite early Alice songs, Killlers was a great album, there was a magic about the original Alice Cooper band, a shame we'll never get to see it happen again with the loss of Glen Buxton RIP
What fun for Dennis. These guys did a good job. I had a high school band and we did this, back around 1973. (Poor kids at those dances.) Very fun to watch Dennis doing it. The drummer did a great job. Our drummer wasn't "on it" like that guy. Dennis said they pieced this together from all kinds of musical scraps the guys had banging around. Vincent F. was tinkering with the lyrics up to this version. The "demo" version that's out there, he's singing different lyrics. Me and my bros were hanging overhead while the band came up a gangway at a Minneapolis stadium. We called out "Glen! Neal! Dennis!" The two guys who reached their hands up to us, being real good to their fans, were Neal and Dennis.
They really nailed it, and great to see Dennis still has his chops and still having fun playing the one song that really showcased his bass playing to begin with. Halo Of Flies is probably the most musically complex song the AC group ever put together (I'm sure Bob Ezrin had a good hand in it as well). I remember listening to this when I was only 14, in awe of the whole song, so many great parts and changes, and even back then totally loving those groovy bass parts Dennis does on it. I'm not normally into cover bands, but having DD onstage with them brought me here. Great job!!!
Thanks for letting me (vicariously) fulfill a boyhood dream... I still remember playing air-drums in my bedroom back in '71 to this record (whilest staring at the tear-off calendar of Alice's head in a noose on the wall...)
I had the inside cover of Love it To Death, Killer calendar, Schools Out Panties and Billion Dollar Bill on my bedroom wall as a kid. My folks thought I had lo my mind; especially when I was blasting that stuff loud. They never told me to turn it down.
Didn't realize I watched this already 4 years ago; I have 3 new comments: 1) FAB-YOU-LUSS! 2) Where's the Mini Moog? 3) Tell Michael Bruce there that there's no manbun's allowed on Alice Cooper songs...
Man, that was awesome. This is the song I want to cover from Alice. I already did a Dead Babies cover. Love that song too. But Halo is still my favorite Alice song of all time. Killer is probably my favorite Alice album. I discovered Alice in 1986 or 1987, when I was 13. My first Alice album was Constrictor. Then my buddy showed me welcome to my nightmare. Fast forward decades and I have every album Alice ever put out, including the new stuff which I don't like at all.
Whenever there's a discussion of all-time great rock bassists I always have to mention Dunaway. He's up there in that pantheon that includes the likes of McCartney, John Paul Jones, Entwistle... all the players who I studied and tried to learn from.
Hell yeah!!! Dennis still got it!! What Alice Cooper (the band) had was an awesome power & energy, due largely to the great rhythm section of Neal Smith & Dennis Dunnaway!! They were tight and had a big, fat, beefy, monstrous sound!! It's so great to see and hear Dennis performing this epic track from the Killer album, and on the same Fender bass that he used to record it, and has had for all these years. Kick ass!!! Excellent!!!
Thanks, Dennis for keeping the oldies but goodies alive. I can't even imagine how many times I've listened to Love it to Death. One of my all time favorite albums. 🎸
Bizarre! Fabulous! I loved the original Alice Cooper group, especially their first Bob Ezrin produced album, Love It To Death. Still one of my favorite albums after all these years. You guys sound great!
Thank you for this. I learned to play bass copying Dennis Dunaway's massive bass lines in the original Alice Cooper band. Saw the School's out tour. I auditioned for Alice's band in 1991. Didn't get the gig - couldn't sing the high part in Poison unless you stuck me in the thigh with a pin! lol I played Dennis' double-stop intro to Bennie Vs The Jets. Alice walks over and sats that's Dennis Dunaway. A WOW moment for sure!
great playing and singing, this actually sounds more like the original 1971 recorded version live than when Alice did when I saw him sing it live, he doesn't have quite the high voice he had back in 1971 these days, that's to be expected I mean. But great performance of this song guys.
Dennis Dunaway and Mike Bruce were always the talented ones from the beginning. Especially, especially, Dennis Dunaway. Probably one of the MOST TALENTED BASS PLAYERS EVER (after all where's the GREEN FROG) and a great composer as well. Thanks for sharing and showing this great MUSICIAN'S talent for this old fan!!!
Damn , I didnt even realise it but I had a huge smile on my face the whole time i was watching this. 😁 I couldn't stop moving to it . 🙂 Dennis was my all time favorite bass player growing up. And its great to see and hear him again :-) I love that guy ! 😎 I've gotta watch all these videos now . I'm hooked . Thanks for posting these. Too freakin cool . 😎
This was the first album I ever bought. In 1973.I bought it because it had an awesome cover.
The original “Alice Cooper” group’s best song musicalitywise IMO. This is a very good cover. Dennis was always a great bass player.
Maybe the closest the original Alice Cooper group went to being prog
Not as good as the original band sorry. There only one Alice. 👀👈. A@@reubensane5539
48 Years later i still love this track!
Awesome cover of my favorite song on Killer! My older brother got this album and Love it to death as soon as they came out and they still remain two of my all time favorite albums, any genre!!!
Dennis is still amazing after all these decades. No one plays the bass like DD.
Dennis has to be the most underrated bass player in rock; very creative and harmonious.
Great to see Dennis out enjoying himself. The original Coop ruled!
I've been a fan of AC for 50 years; Dennis Dunaway was one of the reasons I picked up the bass. This has been one of the signature tunes for me. I needed to see this.
MeToo
Muscle of Love was the very first LP I bought. I can't believe critics panned it. It's chock full of some of the best Detroit garage band rock ever.
Dennis Dunaway - best bass player ever. Great tune.
Dennis flawless as always but props to Nick, Paul and the rest of the band for tackling this beast of a track
Thanks a lot! So rewarding to perform this piece with Dennis and these brilliant musical monsters. Rock on!
I cannot believe that anyone voted “thumbs down” on this video. Dentist Dunaway is a legend and the band did justice to this track. Just wonderful.
Four out of five Dentist Dunaway's use Crest

I think they went to do thumbs up and were so gobsmacked and in awe of what they are hearing, they got the shakes, and hit the wrong button lol
Apart from the vocals
Dennis base lines blew my little mind in the early seventies, still does, can't find the words how different and wonderfully original that bass sounds.
im still looking for mine

I generally don't like tribute bands but this is very good. You guys bring life to these great songs. Dennis still kicking ass on that bass!
1973 was the year I got hooked on Alice aged 12 and it gave my Parents nightmares haha! Dennis was the reason I learned bass and still amaze kids with my rendition of Gutter Cats Vs Jets
Gutter Cat is a bass masterpiece!
Sensational ! The guitarist really has all of Glen's intricate playing on this song down to a tee ! And how cool is it for Dennis to sit in ? !!
Great tune taken from one of the greatest albums of the 1970s.
All of their 70s LPs were gold.
Absolutely right.'Killer'had all the ingredients as one of the top ten rock album of alltime.Loved the OG ACG!
Um
This is a trip back in time.
Great song! Great performance! All that early AC stuff still works.
Dennis always comes across as a cool guy and this proves it, sitting in with a tribute band.

phenomenal. The wonderful things you stumble across on UA-cam in the middle of the night...

WOW! Killer job. Dennis still nails it!
Alice cooper band was so much better than anything Vincent Furrier put out without the rest of the band
I remembered the wonderful concert I watched in 1974 in São Paulo Brazil.
I love Dennis.
that was incredible. My fave ACG tune, i grew up on that stuff.

God bless Dennis Dunaway but what a fantastic cover by all of the band, especially the drummer.
Some of the best bass riffs ever laid down.

beautiful rock and roll.
Way to go Dennis and the gang. Denny, you definitely still got it.
To have an original member of the band you pay tribute to, must be a dream come true to have him jam with you!!
This is absolutely Brilliant! Excellent! Scary how look-alike the singer is to an young Alice from 69/70, even the moves.
DD is a monster bassist one of the best in the business
That was frikin awesome! I can only imagine being there. Great job all around. DD is THE MAN and hoo boy that drummer!
The blonde guy looks like he is playing Glenn Buxton's old SG with the 3 pick ups on it, awesome guys
I was thinking the same thing!
Same model guitar (white SG Custom w/ gold HW, with the large pick guard and bigsby)!
