The other iconic vehicle from the original Jurassic Park is finally here as part of the Legacy Collection.
Man, I kept saying "I don't want those", but, given their retail availability, and the modest size of the line... I kinda feel like I want them now.
Fair play, Mattel. Fair play.
I dare say Mattel is doing a better job in making toys that are more playable, posable and appropriately scaled than some other well-known company...Has(cough)bro(cough)!
The joke is better without spelling out the implied punchline.
@@williamthompson5504 even the Plasma Series had QC problems addressed in Retroblasting’s Ghostbusters PS video!
@@williamthompson5504 I have all the whole line to date and haven’t had one issue with any of the figures or vehicles. Maybe I got lucky but I haven’t read heard of any wide spread issues. I think it’s one of the best to come out of Mattel in a long time.
Exactly as you say, this line technically isn’t doing anything extraordinary, but in an era of missteps and egregious errors, doing the basics can be fun and exciting, which is what toys are supposed to be.
Love the way the top glass of the SUV pushes in!
"Is it heavy?" "yea" "then its expensive - put it back" Love seeing this on the shelf at Target without even looking for it and seeing your continuing review of these as they roll out. As for Mr Arnold: hold on to your butts.
I love seeing them available too. We can have aaaa... coupon day! Lolol
Maybe it's just me, but this line is seeming more and more like a great Adventure People update.
The actress who played Les (The Sister) was very upset that they didn't make an action figure of her.
You'd think decades later they'd be smart enough to add her this time around.
It's like if they released Han but never Chewy for the star wars toy line.
Mr. Roarke with no Tattoo!
Oh, the SmallManity!
So refreshing to see a channel collect the range and display them in a review. Rather than a menagerie of screen grabs from Google. Really gives a proper representation of the line. Retroblasting, in the toy channel space….. is doing the best work.
I bought the T Rex for my young daughter and she loves the snapping jaw action. It's nice to see toys released as toys and not display pieces with 10,000 accessories.
I think these look great for the most part. I just got the Brachiosaurus and it is pretty great. Though admidittly I am a big Dinosaur guy. Also, I feel like my young son can play with these as they are fairly durable.
@@fillerbunnyninjashark271 Have you seen the Hammond collection reveals
@@fillerbunnyninjashark271 They are in scale with the main line, but all of the dinosaurs have more articulation, ad the humans have more accessories
Jurassic park was the first film I saw at the cinema so always holds a special place for me. Plus it's an awesome movie too.
I am loving this series of jp toys. And, with all of the frustrations with hunting hasbro and mattel toys, it is nice to always see jp toys on the shelf. Great job reviewing this line of great toys.
It's the only modern action figure line from the USA that I can easily find here in Japan too. Wish I could say the same for Mattel's MOTU Origins line.
And even when you do get the Brachiosaurus, you'll need Lex for that too: "Veggie-saurus, Lex! Veggie-saur!"
They've done a great job with the Explorer. And it has an accurately dropping bubble, unlike the Kenner original.
This is so much better than Hasbro's version. That was cardboard and exclusive to the most expensive rex
Now when are we getting Gennaro with a collapsible outhouse?
That's what I was thinking! It would be a good way to introduce him without it being a single card figure. People would be more likely to get them
I devised an eAsY wAy to pose the T. Rex with its mouth open…
• Find a tooth pick
• Color it black with a Sharpie®️
• Break the tooth pick according to how wide you’d like the jaws of the T. Rex to be open
• Simply wedge the toothpick between the jaws towards the back of its throat and you’ll never even notice it.
…i have mine displayed in this manner in its packaging and it looks AWESOME❗️The toothpick is invisible from virtually ANY ANGLE - it’s GREAT❗️
At the end of the day, this set is virtually ALL that I have EVER wanted. Simple as THAT. LO❤️E J.P.❗️
“ AHHHHH❗️” “ ROAAARRR “

Thank you Michael, for the fair and informative review. I found this video helpful and enjoyable. Well Done.
The collection looks really good all together.
This seems like a great set, but you're very right about the girl's absence being unfortunate. The scene with her and her brother is probably the franchise's most memorable moment, and she was a HUGE part of it.
I really enjoy your speaking cadence and style in videos Michael. Makes it easy to follow and I never have to rewind because there was something that I misheard or because I couldn't keep up with too much coming too fast. Watching other UA-cam videos makes me wish everyone else had your presentation skills.
Really enjoying this channel. Great stuff.
I love your Jurassic World and Park videos, big fan of the saga and your channel.
100% yes to everything you said about Lex needing to be in this set. That was my first thought when they announced it. Really hope that they get to her soon as I agree that she is essential. I would like the blood sucking lawyer but I need a Lex for the collection to feel complete.
Who wouldn’t kill to have a playset of the public toilet with a Donald Gennaro figure, and when you press a button, the walls collapse (just like in the film), and with the t-rex, it can bite Gennaro on the crapper (and Gennaro breaks away at the waste). Grotesque, for sure, but what an awesome playset that would make.
This is how you do a toy line ... by doing it as an actual TOY line.
I have no idea how we will get Lex. Maybe a set with a bathroom hutch, Gennaro, and a goat. No, that sounds inappropriate... 😂
Maybe they can release the Lex figure with a dining table slime accessory, to channel the jello scene.
I picked up some of these sets based on your earlier review. This is a great toy line
I wish I had room for this line!!!! Thanks for another informative video Michael!!!
The original Kenner JP line never released a action figure of Lex. Hopefully they will release one in this line.
That looks like a nice set, I'll probably pick it up. I'm just concerned about how they'll release Lex. I hope she's not a convention exclusive like the 3.75" Mr Arnold was. I also wonder what she'll be released with. More raptors seems a logical assumption. I got the brachiosaurus because it's an impressive display piece. Also picked up a triceratops but, unfortunately, it did not include a big pile of dino-dung.
Yeah, the Ray Arnold thing is infuriating. My only hope, is like the Dennis Nedry and Hammond before him, that Arnold is rereleased to retail in a different assortment style. I actually prefer the retail Nedry over the SDCC one, which I haven't bothered to pursue.
Like Retroblasting said, they'll probably release him to retail like they did with Nedry and Hammond. I imagine that they'll have him in his lab coat, and have his tie actually tied for the retail release. Maybe the ripped off arm feature won't be a thing on the retail version either. The Legacy Collection characters and Amber Collection characters have more or less tended to have the same characters in their lineup.
I will hand it to Mattel… the convention exclusive figures were really easy for me to get online, and the price was reasonable. I won’t usually put more than minimum effort into getting those type of exclusives and they made it as easy as it could be.
I think Lex, a version of Arnold in a lab coat, and the Lawyer and this movie is basically done.
Could it be that they're saving Lex for a different pack or set? Maybe with the two Velociraptors in the kitchen scene?
Correct, that, and Donald Genero with toilet hut will be released at some point too,
mark my words.
@@machiavellianwolf8246 Let's hope so :)
Great looking set, a dilophosaurus would look good with it.
I'm forever broken because when that T-Rex opens his mouth wide all I hear is HAAAAAAAAAY GUUUUUUUURL!
I wish those figures were available in Canada. But I hope for your sake that Lex comes out in the wrecked Explorer set.
Yes there very hard to find in canada never saw the ford explorer bundles yet at toysrus and its sold out online since it launch !!!
@@GuiOmania I was amazed Toys R Us had the Hammond/Sattler set, but by then too little too late.
A kid in the neighborhood had the original toys back in the day. I know this because my dog Scooby would snatch them from their yard. He had a killing fields down the hill by the wash bed where he would rip toys and stuffed animals apart. I'd find dino bits scattered here and there. 🐶
Great job, thanks for highlighting the T-Rex, its “toy” feature and the size comparison of the other T-Rex 🦖
The $50 price on this is fair, and I agree it was odd that Lex was not included. The Brachiosaurus was the first big Dino I got in this series. That scene when Ellie and Grant see it while in the jeep will always be the greatest cinema moment. I just wish the jeeps had come with a generic driver
I mainly collect Star Wars and Star Trek, but I might need to check this line out.
I definitely want Genaro the bloodsucking lawyer.
And a toilet for him to sit on.
Been meaning to dig into this line. Great video.
I really enjoy this line, too. Some dino joints can be prone to loosening and breakage, but all in all a very well-realized, fun TOY line.
I don't understand why people are leaving negative comments about the legacy line, did they see the crap we got in 93? I would've loved to have these back then, its what I thought we would get at the time, and I understand where your coming from about the herbivore's, I just think they made the brachiosaurus to bring back that monumental moment when we all finally got to see them brought to life in the most realistic image that has never been seen before at the time, on that note.... love your videos
I love this set, I just wish the Explorer scaled better with Nedry's Jeep. They don't quite match up.
I think they look really cool and just how they should be
I was never a JurassicPark fan. LOVE to learn about it’s toys though! :))
These look really nice.
👍🏾👍🏾I love the progression of this line, but it's not my focus right now. Might come back to it another time though.
Loving that Explorer!👏🏾👏🏾
My big thing has always been about adults treating at retail toy lines, children's toy lines, like collectibles. Buying everything, at once, on the peg. Then empty pegs for weeks if not months. This Mattel toy line is more niche. Kids are getting it and adults are getting it. I'm thinking it doesn't attract the money hungry, greedy assholes. It's upsetting the only way I can collect anything from Hasbro is through buying whole assortments from BBTS.
I feel like I walk through the toy aisles and hear Ian Malcolm, "There are going to actually be toys in the toy section, right?"
Doing the basics well, it's all blocking and tackling!
I've got both sizes of T-Rex as well. I like to think of my normal sized T-Rex as being the one from Jurassic Park, and the giant sized one as being Grumpy from Land of the Lost. Grumpy tended to change from a normal sized dinosaur to a giant one, depending on the needs of the scene. When he was chasing someone, he was normal sized. When he was trying to get at Marshal, Will & Holly in their cave, he became large enough to reach it.
Now i need a Visitor Center Playset .... also a BIG DOOR ... ya know, the big King Kong Doorway!! We need that!! ... I can do my own electric fence set up and stuff ... but they GOTTA do the DOORS!!
Hey! You gotta that too! I too loving Mattel's work on Jurassic Park and Jurssic World toyline for a long time. Plus i couldn't resist buying all species of Dinosaurs as well to put on my display shelf all while doing art works with themn vecause i'm just a huge Dinosaur fan through out my life. Also Mattle is doing much better then Habro when it comes to Dinosaurs action figures! XD
Do you think they will make the helicopter?
Lex will probably come with some kind of computer set. Though then Tim should have come with a giant fence.. ?;- )
And the computer should have Unix on it, to be movie accurate.
I always thought it was a mercury mariner
I would love that Hasbro followed this idea , to give us figures for that nice afterlife plasma Ecto
The exploration of exploring the explorer
Love this video! I'm probably going to start collecting these now because... yeah they seem awesome and I'm a sucker for any vehicle that can actually seat 4 figures. How to these look next to the Jurassic World figures Hasbro did? I would love to add Owen and some more dinos to the set.
Also resubbed to the channel. I had unsubbed during all the drama but then I heard about this video and the Airwolf one and both have been awesome.
These scale with the mattel Jurassic World line, Hasbro's line sucked
Funny complaining about this while myself collecting diecast at 60 years old!!! Great video. I feel the reason for this is money. More sales. After all this is a business and hotwheels does this same thing in cars that come out. The matchbox (also mattel) bugatti was hard to find but i did manage to get it.
its so great to see small film accurate figures. back in the day I had the Kenner figures, I was kid and didn't know better but they were so inaccurate and bizarre with guns and gliders and bunch of other weird shit that didn't belong. wonder if they will do a Dr Arnold like the amber collection.
If you want to fix the scratches in the plastic try a compound called polywatch, It's used to fix scratches on acrylic watch screens.
Great review...Thumbs up!!!!!!
This is the only line mostly complete down here in Quito, Ecuador. I just hope Mattel keep the quality on this one to the end.
They should do a control room play set with Lex and Sam Jackson (with cigarette)
I’ve seen these at Target and they look fantastic. I’d pick them up if I had the shelf display space.
Wish these were available in Canada, Tru has a few (the Isla nuclear escape, Brachiosaurus, Apatosaurus) we haven't gotten any of the legacy 33/4" figures. That's my only problem with the toy line, hope they get released in Tru stores in the future
I want it !!
I love your content. Will you ever talk about Starcom or Dino Riders?
Would be nice if they ended up doing Explorer 05 (the one Grant and Malcolm were in during the T-Rex Paddock scene). If they ended up doing that, I could possibly see Lex maybe getting added then. But like you, I want Lex, and to a lesser extent Gennero, to round out my Jurassic Park characters.
There is a T-Rex that's poseable and affordable for 20 bucks in most retailers it is the same size as this T-Rex
The more you bring it up, the more I realize this movie was made for big sets:
Tim, Lex, Genaro, Explorer and T-Rex
Muddy Lex, Grant, Injured Malcom, Outhouse, Deadmeat Genaro and broken Explorer
Muddy Tim, Muddy Lex, Muddy Grant, Galamimus and T-Rex
Muddy Tim, Muddy Grant (w Raptor claw), Snotty Lex, Tree and Brachiosaurus
Lex, Tim, Grant, Perimeter Fence, Bunker, Ellie, Raptor and Dead Meat Arnold
Muddy Lex, Poofy hair Tim, Dining room set, 2 Raptors,
Etc.
Looks like fun
I need to get those since I'm an Uber Jurassic Park fan
I could see Lex in another set with the crushed number 4 Explorer but that would limit the play value if the vehicle can't move and is stuck being upside don with a tire removed from the rim.
I am betting they are planning on packing the sister in with a Raptor Set. As integral as she was, the Explorer was really more about the boy. The Raptors in the kitchen would be more the girl. It really needed Alan Grant with a flare.
It's a decent set, but I can't find it in Target for less than $60 right now and that just seems absurd to me. I have the '93 Kenner version of the Explorer and the Red Rex, which I've always been happy with and for display purposes, you can remove the goofy missiles on the Explorer, etc. and it looks terrific. But I agree, Mattel's been doing a nice job with the line, overall.
Not so much luck in the UK we never got ANY of the original movie characters on shelves or online in the UK.
I gotta keep asking this, cause I really would really like to know your opinion on the Legacy Collection Matchbox Jurassic Park vehicles which along with the figures/vehicles i think is a home run
2:18 The giant T Rex would scale good with the 6 inch Amber collection figures.
These look like the type of cars my cousin would try to hit me with. Lol
nice set. I would buy it if I only had the space for more vehicles.
What about the transformer visions?
cool line.
I hope we get a similar thing with their Amber collection.
I suspect the easily scratch able clear bits will be a thing going forward. Due to European Rules mandating greener plastics they’ve had to change some plastics used. This has particularly impacted the transparent acrylic parts as the new stuff scratches and fogs much easier.
the brachio is real good at being huge
I’d love to see a review of the ray Arnold playset!
I found the 1/24 th scale model of the explorer. The real Ford explorers were built by the Barris Corporation who built all the batmobiles, A-Team vans and ecto-1. 😎🇺🇸
I bet mattel has plans for the girl in another set, or an exclusive. But as a group they look fantastic.
Almost bought this at target.
Noticed the jp stuff sells here instead of shelf warming. We dont get restock, but tney crank out so many releases something of interest always turns up again.
At last a proper toy line that is really marketed for kids most lines these days seem to be hyper detailed and fragile I wouldn’t give a modern g i joe or vintage collection Star Wars figure to a child they wouldn’t last a day
Hey did u know? That there’s a transformers collaboration of jarasiac park. It came with the T. rex and a jeep transformer.
Youre lucky! These never really made it to WI - I see the T-Rex one and and thats it, never saw any of the other Legacy sets. Just tons of Amber Collection stuff at Target
I like how they realized that they don't need to pump out crappy Jurassic world movies to sell the toys, since they still sell well without new movies to back them up
Drop of Polywatch on that plastic window should buff out the scratches
You could try propping the mouth open with a clear plastic rod. A la Luke and the Rancor.
I agree, bigger T-rex is better. If they included Gennaro, he should have removable limbs.
