    I like the new C60 Mk3. It's great value for what u get. They finally have a completely unique CW design now.
    You really should get a bracelet version because it is a really nice one.. Enough to make it a huge selling point to buy one for me.
    One of the best unique case design. Love the bevels, shape and it contours nicely.
    I don't mind the logo(s). Get over it. The logo and way space is used on dial is distinctly CW style now.
    The old hand set were ok. I actually like the new one. It's a unique CW design now. The old ones were actually more Bremont style.

    I have a C60 Trident Pro 600 chronometer, black on black with the SH21 in-house movement and it's got the old logo too (which I prefer). However, having said that, I really do like the new Mk3 Trident. I llke like the new hand set and the new case too and the black date wheel, and I think the new logo looks better on this design than it did on the old design, so there, now you have my 10 cents worth :)

    I think CW are trying and succeeding at making a quality product and introducing some innovation. The jumping hours model and the older world timer models come to mind. But when they changed to the current logo, it just ruined it for me. I much preferred to old C W logo, even the Chr. Ward logo is better than this current design.

  • @Photoandcargeek
    @Photoandcargeek 5 років тому +3

    As a Ward Trident Pro (GMT) owner, I think that the new watch has upgrades and downgrades.
    For me, 40mm is better (as the 42mm is big and looks even bigger than it is), slimmer profile is great, bevelled crown is more comfy, much better line, matching date wheel (although I will have mine changed mine to black at some point).
    Downgrades: unbalanced dial design (I don't mind the logo that much but it should be balanced with a bigger more visible logo at 12 .... Or remove the writing at 9 and leave the logo at 12 like on the quartz chronographs), hand set is neither worse nor better but changing it is a mistake. What I mean by that is that when Rolex or Omega have refined their designs over decades, Christopher Ward seems very undecided about their visuals by radically changing them from generation to generation and that is a weakness in my eyes, they should stick to their visual identity and refine it because that is how you build your brand and heritage. I loved the old hands and the old logo and so did most people I have shown the watch to in the last 3 years (and internet seemed to agree). The size, sharp crown, white date wheel, the poor like, the dial with a wave pattern that didn't always reflect light nicely and could look like made from cardboard could all have been improved easily.

    I have the two Bronze versions and the C5 Malvern, the logo isn't a big deal. I actually like the idea of it being at 9 versus 12. My biggest complaint about my CW tridents is I wish there wasn't a date window. They do such a great job on the dial and layout, I'd prefer a Trident version without a date.

Other than that, I like it all.

    • @Photoandcargeek
      @Photoandcargeek 5 років тому +2

      @@vtlxx I doubt a hose could exceed 100m pressure! A Karcher high pressure cleaner might buy then I am not sure a watch could take that because when watches are tested for water resistance, they are tested for homogeneous pressure on the whole case (with the case distorting under pressure and temperature changes etc), a high pressure water jet will apply pressure on one side of the watch, change of temperature likely combined with a sudden temperature change on just one side of the case .... Not sure all five watches can take that just like a lot of different watches will die if you take them to your hot jacuzzi.

      Agreed, that shows a lack of self confidence in their design or the willingness to please the largest number but this is a dangerous strategy that has backfired so many times in the past with so many brands which wanted volume instead of brand loyalty, saw sales explode (in the best case scenario) and then collapse.

    CW just can't get a cohesive design, it is really kind of sad, because it is almost a great watch, but every time I glance at it there is this slightly jarring sensation something is out of balance. The name "Christopher Ward" is simply not a good choice in the first place, and then putting it at 9 is just weird with a second logo at 12, odd.

    It is a nice watch but it is over-logo'd. I'm ok with the text "Christopher Ward", it is a bit stylised and fashion brand like, but whatever, it's ok and their thing. But that's not all. At 12 and on the crown is their plus/dot logo. Don't seem to be too proud of it, sort of hiding it but it is there. Then the second hand has the trident, is that a logo too of this watch? So, 3 logos? In my book that is at least one too many.

    dropping the guilloche wave pattern and old onion hour hand and then cramming a SECOND logo (and one they seemingly just kind of came up with recently) at the 12 really annoy me. use one or the other, not both. everyone said they were boring in the mk2 days, but the classic looks and high quality fit and finish made them subtle but timeless with a couple more personal touches that set them apart. If there weren't so many other good options, I might consider looking at getting a mk2 used I liked the design so much.
    I love their specs and how versatile they are since theyre dressy and shiny but also functionally a real pro dive watch, but cranking the price up by another $50-100 while really adding 0 functional improvements (and removing most of the things that actually made it visually unique) was kind of met with an eye roll for me in what is really a saturated segment of the microbrand market

  • @dustytriumph

    From day one that billboard fashion branding made me nuts on all previous tridents. An absolute deal killer. We buy the watches we do because we like how they look, right? In the previous versions that BRANDING is too big, bright and the first and only thing I see when looking one of their watches. You even acknowledge that having a white date wheel is kinda jarring on an all black dial, the only thing your eyes look at. Exactly. You sight the black date wheel is sleeker and understated. I agree with that sentiment and think that makes the point people complain about the name branding. Additionally, I think in all the previous iterations that modern font is out of aesthetic character with the vintage mash up of design cues so it really stood out: like a brightly lit billboard. But, now that this MK3 has a very modern look that font and even the placement works aesthetically. I actually almost like it. On this MK3 that branding would not keep me from getting one. I like the balance with the date. Still, I think it's too big, bright and dominant. C. Ward on one line likely better. When they offer this MK3 with a stainless steel bezel I'll get one. Matte ceramic insert might be nice too. All in all I think this is a fantastic update. Love the hands, indices, gloss deep ink black dial, new case and crown.

    I like CW and what the owner is doing. It’s a handsome diver and reminds me of an older Tag (which is a complement). Just not inspired to get one.

    I very much like CW wristwatches; I have four. I do NOT think this one is a fail, but NOT an upgrade either. Kind of a "eh" for me.

    The logo font actually looks very nice in my opinion. In fact I often find the font used on some big brands really annoying. Like the numbers on the bezel of Blancpain Bathyscaphe, it's just Arial and it completely ruins the design for me. Some goes for the JLC Polaris diver. It's such a shame since before they made the reissue the font they used looked so nice.

    The tear drop hands is why I never bought a CW. I'm a happy owner after the new hands

    I’ve got both the mk2 and mk3 38mm tridents. The mk3 is a major step up from the mk2: better case, better lume, better dial, better batons and yes better hands. The mk2 is a tool watch. Slab sided, rough and ready. The mk3 is much more refined. On close inspection the hands have more detail and depth to them, which leave the mk2 hands looking a bit flat and basic. The batons are beefed up and have sloped edges, which play with the light. They’re both excellent watches, but the mk2 has now become my ‘beater’ as the mk3 is really quite special. The hour hand is the middle prong from the trident staff so there’s some cohesion there. In regards to losing it’s identify, it’s still clearly a trident and retains a lot of the original dna. Unfortunately the rubber strap reacted with my skin so have swapped to leather. Will get the bracelet later, which is also an improvement on the mk2 with quick release spring bars. It’s also less chunky than the mk2 bracelet which suits the new case better. In short can’t go wrong with either. Oh and I love the logo. 😉

    Interesting comments. I have a CW C60 bronze and I adore it. The logo, the hands, the movement, et. al. There is really nothing that I don’t like about it. BTW, I have the 38mm variant. Jory......keep up the good work!

    I find this a very generic dive watch, but that is true of many of these dive watches but at least you get good quality and specifications at a very reasonable price.

    I like the watch the way it is. The water drop hour hand would look nice too. About the font. If they put the w inside the c, I think would look nice. But still keep the flag under the 12 o'clock position.

    Christopher Ward watches are actually very good quality, and they combine that quality with a sense of fashion, as an added bonus...
    I would definitely not put these in the same group as other fashion watches, such as Movado and Bulova...Christopher Ward are far better than that

    Nice watch which ill buy but could of been better if they swapped the Christopher ward logo with the two flags logo

    The logo to me is perfect, is kind of an abstraction, not easy to catch at a first glance, which, for me is a plus.
    The ands, I appreciate more the older design (I own one watch of the predecessor version). The font chosen to express the brand name...I like it also very much. That details bring personality to the watch, showing that it is not trying to be something that it isn’t !

    I don't have a CW yet. It's on the list. I probably should order one before they leave the EU. I prefer the new arrow hour hand over the onion shaped. I'm not fan of their logotype. Noth the old one nor the latest one.
