I know I took my time with this one, apologies for those who have been asking for it. I didn't want to rush it, considering CW sent me the watch for free. It is a cracker..... assuming you are OK with the looks. Cheers, Jody
I've owned a Trident pro 43mm MK2 for 3 years. I get countless comments on it every time I wear it. The feeling of quality you get when you wear is is something I haven't had with a watch costing under 5k. It miles a head of something even such as an Oris or Squale. Mine is the first to have the logo at the 9pm position, and it almost prevented me from buying it, but I'm so glad it didn't because I absolutely love it and can't see me ever getting rid of it, God knows it's gonna last me a life time.
If you sign up for their newsletter , there’s usually a code given out often that makes this $785 shipped !
Thumbs up so hopefully your comment goes near the top. Don't buy C.W. without a coupon.
Thank you. I hope others see this.
How often do they send these out ?
Which is exactly the price of a longines hyrdo conquest in any color way you want. Brand new with warranty. I'd take the longines diver for the$785 personally thank you. But hey, to each their own i guess, lol.
@@jasongennero2925 Could you kindly provide a link? I heard of the brand, I can't remember if it is owned by Richmont of Swatch group.
My c60 trident turned up yesterday. Absolutely love it! Nearly ran my car off the road and into a ditch whilst admiring it...
Christopher Ward paid for the import duty too which I was stoked about.
Just got my trident pro 600 and at least now I can confirm half links are in the bracelet. So that is another improvement they made to the watch!
I have had a C60 Trident Pro COSC ltd ed. for five years and it is still my favourite watch. They are superb value for money. It has the date window at just after 20 past, which is unbalanced and I love it :)
Chr Ward have excellent after sales service, which I had to use due to an issue with the movement. They sorted it out very quickly, no questions asked, paid for all postage (I live outside the UK) and gifted me a beautiful leather strap for the inconvenience. That’s why I bought another of their watches. Recommended.
I think you are one of the most genuine reviewers in the industry and few have your integrity and enthusiasm.
Excellent review, I’ve considered CW several times, but yet to pull the trigger. Would love to see a change to the logo. I absolutely love the hands.
I like how the dial is designed. Totally balanced in my eyes. There is something at 3, 6, 9 and 12 and the logo is not too much in your face. Minimalist approach. If you look closely
the logo is the Swiss flag followed by the English flag.
I love the left-right balance used to watch as well as the nearly invisible logo, I think that because that balancing is different, you need that little bit of space somewhere and I think up top is perfect. And just in case it's a problem and is to empty, and there's still that logo there. I think it's perfect.
I bought a c60 Trident Pro a couple years ago, when they still had the onion hands. In the first 30 days the movement started acting funny. I reached out to customer service, and they responded super quickly and took care of me. They setup someone to come pick up my watch from my house for free, and they sent me a new watch in a couple weeks. Really excellent experience, and have enjoyed wearing the watch daily ever since.
My C60 Trident COSC has a day complication as well and this balances out the dial perfectly. As for the on the fly bracelet adjustment I have no issues with it, works beautifully...fantastic watch all round.
C Ward is absolutely killing it. They're a bit spend for our 40 and 20 fans, but definitely in the ballpark for someone looking to go first luxury waych. I don't think anyone gets close to the value for the money!
I have the C60 COSC Trident and the C65 GMT. Christopher Ward watches are excellent.
My C60 COSC is in the post, I went for it over an oris aquis or a second hand Tudor peglagos. Think I made the right decision?
I do. I’m a big fan of the Oris as well and I also considered a Tudor but the value of the CW is unmistakable. Hope u like the watch. My Trident COSC is my daily wear.
@@robertdconner I was really tempted by the oris, but the idea of being tied into oris only straps has put me off. Just waiting for my dispatch email!
I have the C60 Trident Acan COSC day/date and it's a beautiful thing, the quality is outstanding....
I had the 38mm MK2 version and like this one more. More modern design. I even like the logo design now they have added the flags at 12 (the C65 GMT I now have has an embossed logo which works even better). Christoper Ward make excellent watches.
Right now I’m wearing a Christopher Ward Trident 🔱 300 quartz , with the new logo.
This is one of my favorite watches I’ve ever owned.
$390 shipped. Worth every penny.
Just bought one yesterday went for 40mm black. Thanks for the advice.
I think I've indirectly benefited from this review: CW sent round a 'sale' email a couple of weeks ago and I picked up the last of the MkII C60 Trident Pro 600 38mm for just under half price. It is a stunning watch (a few minor differences from the one you review in the video, but certainly not $500 worth of upgrades). The MkII feels every bit the $1000 watch you describe. You weren't joking Jody - this is a hell of a watch for the money.
I love the branding and logo. There are so many with the "normal" setup, so it's ok to have a couple with a bit of a difference.
Got a C65 classic...can't fault it, excellent quality & value. I'm saving for another model (& hinting to the Mrs as its my birthday in September... so I'll casually leave my pad laying around with this review "half watched" 😉) Cheers mate 👍👍⌚👍👍
Getting the big sponsorships now :D proud of you
He really deserve it. Always at point and pointing flaws we normally do not see. Even the watch companies can benefit and start making even better watches.
I love this brand. I have a red bezel 42mm Trident Pro 600 and 38mm vintage Trident Pro 600. I was able to get both for under $800 Canadian dollars each.
I really love the trident second hand it’s so beautiful and unique
Just purchased this watch (38mm) and it’s outstanding. It looks stunning and you’d think it was more expensive than it is. I have a 17cm wrist and struggled to find a dive/sports watch that doesn’t make me look like a 10 year old wearing his dads watch but this has done the job perfectly. Can’t fault it.
Hey Jamie, I have a 16 cm wrist and I’m trying to decide between the 38mm and the 40mm black dial variant. How do you feel about the 38mm one month after your purchase?
Daniël Granja Baltazar I’ve since realised my wrist is 16.5cm and I bought the 38mm and it’s spot on. You won’t be dissatisfied.
Jamie Thrift thank you for the quick reply. Much appreciated mate! 👍🏼
Daniël Granja Baltazar tell you what mate, I’m thinking of selling mine? I’ve only had it 2 months, barely worn it. I Fancy the c65 now
I just bought the GMT in 38mm. Fantastic. The logo really makes sense when you see it in person
Had to use the warranty at 4 years. Great experience working with CW. They provided free air shipping from California back to England. Had the watch back in 7 weeks.
About time you reviewed Christopher Ward. They are a terrific brand.
I just can't get over the brand name. Everything else is great.
It seems that they have listened to your suggestion, latest version have included half ring on it
I'm going start a you tube channel reviewing watches just to get free watches ! I will be a true Scotsmen if I can pull this off, that's being truly frugal ! Cheers!
It appears that I’m in the minority, but I actually like the 9 o’clock placement of the branding
same, you directly see it's a CW, which is a good thing. I think people are going to like it more in the future.
I like it too. I’ve never thought the previous branding was very strong.
Glashütte brands at 9oclock, but that font is really really cheap
40 and 20 approved logo, for sure!
The old branding looks really dated. I cant see how people keep saying it was better?!
Cracking review. I can confirm what Rikki said about the bezel research, as CW himself told us at The a Edinburgh meet a few weeks before launch. He referenced the Rolex Submariner as having the best action and sound, so that’s what they aimed for. Such a shame they’re getting a lot of bad QC and customer service issues just now, as they do produce great watches, which punch well above their weight.
I have 2 CW Trident Pro (Mark II) myself and I have gotten plenty of compliments off them. CW is grossly underrated and congrats on your first CW! Am looking at one of the Trident GMT model.. still thinking over if I should pull the trigger. Keep up the great Vlogs 👍
I'm a fan of CW. Almost pulled my trigger on a CW65 Trident a while ago... One more glass of wine and i would of done it.
wine you pussy
@@eliransabak1447 Yes i know, real men drink beer.
As a wine-drinking man, you ought to know better than to write "would of".
@@impact0r Dumbass writing. I do that sometimes...
@@eliransabak1447 FYI hipsters also like drinking beer... ;)
Ordered one a few hours ago, will hopefully be here on Wednesday. Ordered the 42mm in red bezel 😍
Christopher Ward seems like a great brand at the price point... 60 month warranty on the movement! The finishing reminds me of what you find on most Tudors. I particularly like the C65 blue dial Dartmouth Series. Looks a lot like a Seamaster 300.
The cases are made in same place as tudor
Bought the 38mm variant two years ago and it's still my one watch watch collection. No other diver has come close.
Had mine a few years. The watch is absolutely outstanding, and the best watch in my collection. That said, I don't own anything more expensive. The previous logo was far nicer though, and I don't know why they changed it.
Stealth logos are cool imo
Great video as always, you have one of the best “back catalogue” of videos on youtube! Excellent re-watch value too
Hell no! My Oris was 2 grand and I only got a 2 year warranty! I only got an extra year because I registered it on the Oris website. 5 years is unheard of and amazing.
Nice looking watch, super sharp! My favourite C. Ward though is the C65 Trident GMT, it's pretty much perfect in every way in my opinion. Can't be beat for around a grand!
Fantastic watch and review! I have the C65 Trident GMT and I absolutely love it. It’s hard to beat the value provided by Christopher Ward. 😎
Yes.Yes. Yes.
Jody, I had almost given up on a C. Ward review from you so many thanks for this.
There does seem to be a touch of snobbery around the brand until reviewers get one on the wrist and even poor Adrian over at Bark and Jack found himself spluttering some compliments into his coffee when he reviewed similar. That was a bit of a wow moment.
I am the very proud owner of a Trident 300 quartz 38mm which my wife bought me and I love it. The craftsmanship is simply gorgeous and the watch sits beautifully on my smallish wrist. It really is a joy to wear. I can only guess at what you have received.
Pound for pound I think C. Ward offer probably the best value on the market and no question their after sales service is number one.
Certainly, the logo is contentious and it gave me the jitters initially but after many hours on the wrist I have to say it is no longer an issue. I do agree though that the iteration has not yet reached its apotheosis.
A wonderful review, giving a lovely watch the time and attention it deserves.
Thank you.
Thanks for your kind words! Cheers, Jody
I’m currently wearing a 🔱 Trident 300 with the orange bezel. Love it.
Great review. CW sent me a sale email this morning, so I just ordered the Trident Pro in blue for about $800. It will be my third CW, and am really looking forward to receiving it.
CW rocks - I have the former generation in blue, 43mm - the case and dial finishing is the best I've ever seen on any watch sub 1k - I mean, under the loop even the polishing looks like glass. Really impressive and fantastic style.
Looks like a classy timepiece, I’m tempted. Great review btw.
Thanks Robert! Very solid watch that has become a bit of a benchmark for me now. If you like the look, and the branding, then go for it!
Excellent review Jody as always, I bought one of these with the cranberry colored bezel 3 months ago and absolutely love it, it fits in my rotation with my Omega SMP, my Breitling Superocean and my Seikos
Nice watch! Glad to see brands are recognizing you now. Kudos!
got the Blue model with the hybrid strap and the bracelet and i love it. definitely a keeper.
same pal
I've enjoyed the c60 and c65 cw's. This c60 mk3 is the best. The case is really nicely done and the bracelet's quick attach/removal and easy micro adjust has not been an issue. May be the best sub $1k modern diver. The logo does not bother me at all. I'm just waiting for more colors.. i would love the new white dial black bezel option they have on the 42mm version in the 40mm as well.
I am so glad you did a review of this beautiful piece! I've been looking at this one for a few months now since its release and I'm quite fond of it. Might make this my Christmas gift to myself this year😎 great vid as always🍻
I just order a 40mm black C60 Trident Pro, because of the simple font, clean logo and unique branding. Considered a few others for several hundred less, but just couldn't bring myself pull the trigger on a Folex®
Great great great brand...the c65 is an incredible watch, love everything about them.
I pulled the trigger on the previous C65 blue wave dial version not so long ago and love it. I now have it on a tan suede strap and it looks the dogs, well to me it does.
Brilliant- my rainy Saturday has been made for me.
I have the GMT version. Love it. Only annoyance is that the bezel is unidirectional. Should be bidirectional on a GMT.
Definitely! That's a miss.
They should use CW as their logo.
There, you did it, my Trident is on order. The current 50% off sale did not hurt either.
C/ward make great quality watches , I own 4 and every one is superb, the C60 range are unbeatable value, I have the limited edition ombré model cosc certified and it is as well made if not better than a lot of the so called luxury brands at twice the price, brilliant company and excellent value for money, for example the tag aquaracer is twice the price and doesn’t come close to the C60 in build quality, I owned and sold my tag caliber 5 when I bought my C60 ombré, i own a Tudor bb which in my opinion is the best watch in the world for the price and it’s not far off that quality ! That’s how good it is
This watch caught my eye and I immediately wanted it... then I realised I own it :D
I believe half links are coming. My preference is the older Mk1 and 2 hand sets but I adore this light catcher case.
Surprisingly nice... the more i look at this piece the more it draws me in. Brilliant mate, thanks for sharing!
I have the C60 BLUE Limited Edition watch on my wrist. Unbelievably stunning dial. You won't regret this one. I don't! Supposed to keep +/- 20 sec a day, and while I don't have a good way to measure this, it appears to me that mine is running much tighter then that. Also good feeling that all my money went to help clean the oceans. So if you think about it, you donate all your money to a good cause and the watch is free ;)
You're right! Logos are tricky. Just look at Phoibos. The first text logo was absolutely horrendous! THEN, they nailed it with the Octopus (Cthulhu) logo 🔥🔥🔥👏👏👏
I really like Davosa Ternos for the money. 40mm 200m dive watch with ETA 2824-2 for about $800. Love that watch. And they now have distribution in the USA so you dont have to send overseas for any warranty issues that would unlikely to happen.
That was a good observation, the problem with the lack of half links.
I have got the blue Mark 2 Christopher Ward and I love it. Great review.
19:40 The reviewer says it is a risk buying online, but with their 60/60 guarantee there is 0 risk to try one on your wrist in the comfort of your own home. They pay for shipping AND the return shipping plus the full refund if you are not taken away with the watch. It's an amazing service. What other company let's you try on their watches completely for free this way (covering all shipping costs - even international)?
I love their C1 Grand Malvern Power Reserve. Its quite impressive to get an in-house movement for this price!
Gorgeous watch! Great review, I appreciate the phrasing (not ‘unbalanced’, just a different placement of the Christopher Word font). Overall? It’s a little out of my price range, but I still enjoyed the review! Keep up the great work!
its worth signing up to the newsletter they offer, they normally give plenty of notice of incoming sales. and there are some great bargains to be had, I got an older trident for almost 50% off, and its a stunning watch.
Hello Jody, I own the CW C65 Trident. I find that with ownership the CW Brand name at 9 o'clock becomes unnoticeable over time. Not that I have a problem with its placing anyway. cheers and thanks for the review
Great video as always, Jody!! The only things I'd change on what is otherwise a total winner is the logo at nine, highlight the one at twelve and sort the bracelet adjustment!!! Just saying.......
Extremely nice watch and great value for your buck. 600 m diver. The case has a Breitling Superocean heritage feel about it and looks like it wants to punch on with the Oris Aquis and hydroconquest. Maybe the "best" choice at the price point. Would be cooler on a nice endmill bracelet or a mesh like the Breitling.
I absolutely HATE the "Christopher Ward" billboard on the dial.
@Brenton Edwards same with the Hamilton Jazzmaster Viewmatic open heart. Beautiful timepiece, but branding has no elegance. Even the font and size choice are just damn uninspiring. Even undergraduate multimedia arts students can create so much better than these brands did. I can't believe they can't even find or pay someone with expertise/taste/style in design and branding. These lazy branding designs make me puke. Too bad since the timepiece themselves are really good.
Thanks for representing a lot of us who feel the same way! It doesnt have the same appeal as "Patek Philippe" just not a cool name and my name is Christopher myself 🤣
It’s grown on me. I HATED it. Now I really like it.
@Brenton Edwards It's gay. Not that there's anything wrong with that. But it is gay, and gay isn't my thing.
Same. I'd literally never buy one JUST because of it. It looks so tacky
The al black looks outstanding, also liked the black dial with red bezel.
Appreciate the "Ministry of Silly Walks" shirt :D
It’s interesting to see how Ward mixes modern with austere in their aesthetic. Simple dial, clean font, but his shine bezel and distinctive second hand flourish. I kinda don’t know what to make of it...
Another great watch review! I bought the white-dial version and it's everything Jody said: it's a great watch but the lume and logo let down the side a little bit. The lume is weaker than it should be and the logo always makes me think it quarter-to-something at a quick glance but otherwise it's a terrific watch and a great value.
There is a half link at the other strap end . Easy to use it
I had a similar problem with the bracelet on my C65 and agree that a half link would have sorted it. Shame, but the quality from CW is excellent.
I own a c600m gmt and I absolutely love it
Great review. I see lots of comments sugesting the Longines Hydroconquest as a contender. I was expecting many people suggesting Steinhart as well. I've never held one in my hands, but my impression is that they are (also) very well built and finnished. Care to give your view on how the Steinhart stack up againts the CW?
I bought mine 7years ago and it has the orange bezel ala the sea master planet ocean. It’s be a great watch and it has an eta 2824-2 movement. Looking at the new model they have improved the crown that I always felt was a little small. Great watch I think I payed $ 550 US. A bargain.
They're better than I thought. That case 'scalloping', facetting, shaping and polishing reminds me, maybe a little, of the sarb033, my own sbdc053 (6Rmas), and then some! The case and back are fantastic. The new hands are an improvement, too.
Really like that there's a 40mm. Not '41.this' or '38.that'. I've a few over-40 divers but a recent homage purchase has made me feel like a bit smaller, at 40mm, is the way. Among other things: it seems a bit more civilised (or something), haha.
I wouldn't quibble about their logo, either. It's only small and in the subtlest of fonts.
I would choose this over my Hydroconquest if I was looking for something in that price bracket, today.
It's got my name on it so what can I say! I love it and am getting one for Christmas! It's a fabulous looking watch and I can't wait to get mine. I would prefer to have the name at the top but it's not the end of the world. Who wouldn't want a quality watch with your own name on it!!!! Perfect....
You need to buy the entire range!! 🤣
I appreciate the disclosure, wish all UA-camrs were this honest.
I have the thin Malvern 2 hander - CW is amazing! One of my favorite brands!
And I like the logo :)
I agree with your point of the Moans & Niggles. Would have prefered if they had stuck with the "Ch. Ward", if they really have to keep it. Hopefully they stop using the writing and just use the little cross logo only. In my opinion it will make the watch look a lot sharper than it already is. I hope you get to review the GMT I would like to know your thoughts on it.
Thanks for another great review and congrats on another great addition to your collection 💪💪...... (the Oris 65 though 😍😍.
IT's a beautiful looking watch
One word: it’s Stunning and for 1100$ it’s excellent buy. About the clasp it’s no issue for me as I wear my watches a little loose just for that occasion when my wrist swells up a bit during a day.
They are great overall piece of art.
CW dollar for dollar some of the best.
Ordered a C60 BLUE Limited Edition 2 nights ago... cannot wait!
I have exactly the same problem with the bracelet and several of us brought it up with Christopher Ward at the Manchester get together. For some people it works fine, but if your wrist size is in between links then you're either using the clasp fully open or closed depending on how many links you have. A half link would certainly solve that.
Great review as usual Jody...spot on.
The watch checked all the boxes but I sold my Christopher Ward (like this in black). Had issues with the watch vibrating when wound. I then had issues with customer care. They told me the watch was fine even though it vibrated- that's not normal. You can check some videos (I located one on facebook) showing the vibrating issues.. I would agree it's a nice watch but for the price there were too many issues. I also liked the 5 year warranty. But check the warranty notes. You have to send it back around 2-3 years for service otherwise the warranty is basically voided and the repair is out of pocket.
I don’t understand the hate with the identity/logo. As a designer I love where CW have arrived.
The elephant in the room for me on the new trid3nt divers is that ridiculous sword hour hand. Proportions really not doing doing it for me personally.
Great review though, thanks!
Notice how even you referred to them as CW? Yea, most people would have much less of a problem with them if they actually branded as “CW”.
Is it just me or does the 12:00 indicator on the bezel not quite line up with the dial? (12:13) Maybe it’s just my eyes.
Great honest review 👍 I got the 40mm version and the feel of it is great but something that cant be explained- it has to be felt (a bit like a grand seiko). It had a quality heft to it, without being too heavy or big. Feels solid and well made.
I have returned mine due to an issue with the movement and hope the customer service is not as bad as people say it's become as they were always known for being good. Worried they have got bigger too quickly and cant handle it.
Okay this convinced me, just bought the bronze version
That may be one that I save up to buy that is pretty cool the 60 month warranty is what really impresses me. Overall it does look like a quality watch and shiny is my favorite color I really like it
LIV watches is a Swiss micro-brand that offers 5 year warranty on outstanding quality divers for around $800 in 41mm and 44mm sizes. I have also had my eye on the new titanium version of this CW diver, which looks fantastic.
For a grand you should, after some looking around, be able to find the automatic Longines Hydroconquest. If you don't know it: check it out, it's gorgeous. 41mm, Ceramic, 64 hours power reserve in-house (eta-based i think though) movement. Very nice bracelet and clasp...
Yeh thats a nice watch, had my eye on it but fell in love with the tissot seastar 1000 with blue graduated dial. $700 street price. Powermatic 80 has almost quartz accuracy. Though do concede longines as a brand does evoke more prestige
@@LLSicilia that Tissot is indeed a beauty, and as a make it is underrated, but it will never be a Longines:)
Seems like Steinhart Ocean One represents a better value at almost 1/2 the price. Thoughts?
