    In the future it'd be awesome awesome if you talked about things like chum tactic while diving, what type of structure to look for/ see on sonar (for grouper), and maybe about how to become a charter captain.

      I dispatch every single fish as quickly as I can, often before I even surface. Hate to see any animal suffer and am always extremely grateful for their sacrifice to feed countless others!

    Another awesome video! It doesn't matter if you're shooting or deep dropping you make all your videos fun to watch. My question this time is, i know you've been free diving for a while and have gotten accustomed to it, how do you condition yourself to make those 50, 75, 90 ft dives?

And honestly I don't do any kind of training, I really should but I have been diving for so long my body is used to it, wish I had a better answer! Nice that fish are not all caved up. Shooting Anegada reefs for most of the 80's it was rare not to have to spend most of your time looking into caves. Spring steel shafts would snap as soon as a fish turned in a cave so I had to use SS and get good at using wavy shafts. Nice video. Mostly we shot dog snapper, YF and Nassau grouper. My PB was 29 lb Nassau and 31 lb YF. I had chances ar huge cubera but would not shoot with shooting line attached to gun. I discovered reels and float lines after returning to Texas in 1991 after Hurricane Hugo blew us home. Oh and finally in 2001 Rob Allen guns. All the Euro designs are accurate.

      @@KeyWestWaterman I used 2 Dacor aluminum guns in the VI I won in a scuba rodeo in 73 and 74 in Freeport Tx rig diving big cobes and jewfish. I still have the record 321 lbs since no one has shot them since 1978. In the 90's in Tex local paper interviewed me about that fish and printed a long full page that was widely circulated all over the gulf coast. I had given out a lot of info about rigging and how to take jewfish in the rigs. This attracted 2 game wardens who visited me at home. I had stated how good they are to eat and the paper stated he enjoys them today ha ha I proved I hadn't shot one since the 70's. My wifes ex is Billy Causey who was in charge of the NOAA reef protection at the time. Very funny.

I’d love to see how you got your start because I’m super interested in getting into commercial fishing and crewing on a charter fishing boat to build up my sea time. • @KeyWestWaterman
      @KeyWestWaterman  4 роки тому +2

      glad you enjoy them! Me looking around is honestly more for looking for other fish that came to investigate, or if a spooked anything I should be looking for on the next dive! we deal with sharks on a daily basis and aren't a huge concern. They often come in to see what's going on but if you secure your fish quickly thats the end of it. With that being said there are plenty of times we have to leave spots because sharks get too blood hungry and give us some buzzes that are too close for comfort!
